The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip. Situated just a short drive from out holiday parks and lodges in the Yorkshire Dales is The Deep! This award-winning 'submarium', is home to over 3500 fish from tiny neons to spectacular sharks and rays! The site is a big hit with adults and children alike and visitors can enjoy wandering through Europe's deepest viewing tunnel and take a thrilling a glass lift ride through the 10m deep tank. The Deep is also home to the world's largest exhibition, featuring weird animals from the depths, and slime! The Deep also aims to educate visitors with regular talks and events and is involved in conservation and research around the world, from the Caribbean to the North Sea oil fields. For a relaxing day out surrounded by nature Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens is an excellent choice. The charming series of small gardens are beautifully situated surrounding a late C19th farmhouse. And offer the perfect place for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic. Established some 30 years ago, each garden is crammed with stunning texture and foliage creating dramatic displays and beautifully landscaped areas. Visitors can also enjoy a woodland walk leading down to a wildlife pond and on to a wildflower meadow. Nature lovers will enjoy seeing the many birds and butterflies as well as the rare poultry. There is a nursery onsite where plants can be purchased. Those with green fingers can enjoy several morning courses throughout the year including Planting and care of wildflower meadows and Perennials for autumn colour and to prolong the season. Entry to the gardens cost just £4 for adults and 50p for children. Courses are priced at £12 and include coffee.
