Just seven miles from tranquil Aldeburgh and close to Framlingham with its wonderful castle, Carlton Meres Country Park is set in woodland around two large fishing lakes. Suffolk has a host of family friendly seaside resorts and pretty English towns, as well as a beautiful coastline and plenty of opportunities for fun days out.

Fish in the lakes, play tennis, enjoy a splash in the outdoor heated swimming pool and have dinner in the clubhouse - there's lots to do here on the park - and further afield. Both Ipswich and Lowestoft have a good mix of shops and restaurants  - and you could enjoy a champagne brunch aboard the Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant at Orford.

There is a good selection of holiday homes and lodges at Carlton Meres. The Platinum 2 is a luxurious lodge with two double bedrooms, one with an ensuite shower. The spacious open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area has a flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD and there's a good sized decking area with garden furniture.

You can go carp and coarse fishing at Waveney Valley Lakes in Norwich, and enjoy indoor kart racing at the Anglia race track in Ipswich.

Our Top Tip
"There are beaches galore - Southwold has golden sands and a lovely old lighthouse and Dunwich is a National Trust beach with some excellent walks and lots of wildlife to spot."

The fridge/freezer was not working properly when we arrived. Food in the fridge was frozen, and adjusting the temperature control did not help. A replacement was supplied after six days. Everything else was fine.

A clean and attractive environment. One serious defect was the clear glass front door, which could not be screened off at night. My wife found this quite intimidating once it got dark and we were brightly lit in view of all and sundry.

Very enjoyable.
Restaurant was closed and bar opening hours limited apart from that every thing was ok. Caravan was excellent and one of the nicest we've stayed in. Thank goodness it had central and double glasing as if was freezing.
The holiday was amazing. However we were told that the restaurant was closed a week before we arrived and when we arrived we wanted to use the swimming pool but this wasn't open the whole week we were there which was disappointing. The surroundings were beautiful and it was set in a lovely location. We were hugely amazed by the standard of the caravan which we had. It was top standard! Considering coming back next year too.
Well appointed lodge- at the time we were there, there was no Wifi restaurant or shop. This wasn't a problem for us but could have been for some visitors. We loved the area
Brilliant last minute half term break with our 2 boys. Great location for rest and relaxation but close enough for a trip to the coast. On site facilities excellent. Small shop for essentials, friendly staff and reasonably priced bar/restaurant. Evening entertainment far exceeded our expectations. We would definitely return.
Very good overall. Van was fairly near to club house and may affect quietness during busy times. We could hear the activities going off in the club and there was a constant banging when music was playing which may have been a problem in peak season.
Lovely caravan very clean and has everything you need. Hubby loved the fishing he had some good fish too. Had lunch in restaurant food was good and freshly cooked, pity we missed Sunday Carvery perhaps next time. Staff on park lovely, Pat and Brian are an asset to park will be coming back.
Lovely place to stay and the staff were friendly
Definitely one of the best short breaks we have had the caravan was 1st class and great surroundings club house was lush did not realise about the fishing won't forget the next time thanks very much for all yours jim an liz day has der lar vista
Had a great break, lots to do and close to the beach
