Fun Days Out in Essex
No visit to Essex is complete without a day at this popular zoo with over 250 species of animals. The enclosures are well maintained and the zoo provides a good habitat for the animals there. The 60 acres of parkland and lakes are ideal for walking round and we are sure this day out will provide you with lasting enjoyable memories. Some of the highlights include penguins which you can see swimming at Penguin Shores, and the elephants at Spirit of Africa. In addition there are over 30 daily shows to attend.
This attraction is actually free of charge to enter which we think is excellent. Located on the Southend Seafront there are over 50 rides and attractions to enjoy. For the very daring there is a 75ft roller coaster with a more than vertical drop- not for the faint hearted! Other highlights include the Dragon's Claw, Vortex, Scorpion, Ramba Zamba and Sky Drop. Younger children will also find plenty of more gentle rides and attractions to keep them entertained.
A day at Great Notley Discovery Centre and Park is a fantastic way to explore the very best of Essex offering many facilities including a sensory trail, visitor centre, bistro and cycle hire centre. There are links to over 15 miles of walking and cycling paths on the Flitch Way too. Those with young children can rent a trailer or tandem bike to make exploring fun for the whole family.
Roydon Marina Village Reviews
We stayed here for a long weekend with 2 sets of twin babies and a 10 year old. On paper we didn't fit in the lodge as a party of 8, but the staff were excellent at reassuring us we would fit and continued to support us on arrival and throughout our stay. The lodge was spacious and clean and we never felt we were crowded. The hot tub was an added treat and again was clean and warm on arrival. The park itself doesn't have anything to do,especially for older children so it is a trip out everyday but it is a beautiful location and very peaceful.

Lovely thank you
We stayed in lodge 7 which is very spacious with an open plan living/ kitchen area with two bedrooms both with en suite facilities one containing a bath the other a very high tech shower. The bed was comfortable and towels were supplied as well as a couple of dishwasher tablets and some olive oil sample products which was a nice touch. Once up to temperature the hot tub was lovely, only thing was you felt a bit exposed as you were getting in and out of it but that's only for a few seconds. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and it was a lovely surprise there being sachets for coffee, tea, sugar and minature pots of milk so that you could make a few cups of tea when you arrived! Living area was nice with freeview and a DVD player, the sofas looked nice however one of them was losibg it support when you sat on it but as it was only myself and my husband on a mini weekend break without the children that didn't matter too much. A very nice lodge and would certainly consider staying again.

When we first walked in the accommodation it was amazing.it was so clean and bright and comfortable. It was home from home.
This is the second time we have stayed at this particular lodge, it might be self catering but it was also the height of luxury, hot tub, power shower, heated towel rails and a dishwasher!

This is Five-star accommodation in every way and I will certainly be coming back again next year.
Could not fault it
Rooms we're clean BUT please get rid of the cobwebs
The back window of our number 5 lodge was broken, this needs fixing however it never affected our stay.

Peaceful location, close to the railway, our son loved watching the trains go by. A lovely lodge, hot tub was fab. Perfect location for visiting London. All in all a great holiday had by all!
The lodges were lovely.
Great for getting to London.
This location is excellent for families wanting access to London but desiring a more laid back family environment in the Essex countryside. The lodges and park have everything you could want for a laid back holiday but close to the train station for the hustle and bustle of city life. Excellent holiday!!
Perfect site to visit London, 5 minute walk to station, peaceful and relaxing location and pleasant walks along the canal and marina. Village 10min walk, friendly pubs with good food at reasonable prices, excellent value for money.
A really enjoyable break in an excellent location only 25 minutes to London on the train would definitely stay here again.
We enjoy quiet, peaceful holidays with lovely long walks and this holiday provides just that. With the scenic river walks it was perfect.
Very comfortable accommodation with excellent cycling along the canal, easy train travel into London and the luxury of a hot tub to relax!
Located next to railway station, ideally sited for visits to London. No need to take the car. Lodges are very spacious and ideal for families and as everyone says the hot tub is great.
The accommodation was excellent, spotless and well furnished with top of the range TV and shower and a wonderful hot tub. When the hot tub temperature was accidently put down by my son the maintenance man was there within minutes to reset it. Also brilliant for catching regular trains to London with late returns.
