Fun Days Out in Dorset

This has to be our favourite attraction in the area located amidst the woodland area of Dorset.  This is a monkey sanctuary and you will get the unique opportunity to see all of the great work that's carried out by the staff - and of course see the 160 plus primates for yourself. Situated over 65 acres this is a fantastic environment for the monkeys.

If you like museums then this is one with a difference.  Families will love wondering around this building looking at the earliest antique teddy bears and more modern teddy bears from today.  A real highlight is Edward Bear and his family of people sized bears which are hard to miss!  This popular Dorset attraction is also excellent value for money.

Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park is a must if you are enjoying a family holiday to Dorset. The Majestic gardens are simply stunning and include formal areas with gorgeous floral displays as well as a pretty terrace, a temple and a lake. The animal park area is great fun for children with plenty of friendly creatures including goats and adorable pot bellied pigs. The site also has a visitors centre with shop. At well under £20.00 for a family ticked it isExcellent value too.

The caravan was clean and tidy and had plenty of room, the only thing that was lacking was coat hooks.

Caravan could have been cleaner, we cleaned the skirting boards ourselves as don't think they had ever been touched. Need more cooking equipment, baking trays etc and why only one shelf in oven, should have been two.

Lovely clean chalet. Bed and sofa very comfortable. Kitchen with hob and microwave fine as we planned our menus about that. Nice bathroom and shower, not the strongest in the world but still okay. One thing was chalet has a skylight which had no blind to it so even if curtains were shut, as soon as the sun was up, it was light in the sleeping area. Maybe have a blind at the bottom of the shafts it is at the top of, to deal with this issue? Overall rating (and comfort) would be a 10 if this was fixed.

We had another fantastic holiday at Newlands park.

This is a brilliant site. Emerald lodge is very spacious and having a washing machine was fantastic with kids. Although the site was clearly busy it didn't feel over crowded. The amusement arcade is small and if all the machines are working a good selection ,unfortunately more than half were broken in our first week but the second week some more were fixed. The kids enjoyed it anyway. A minor moan for a two week stay in a lodge that gave us towels is that we were not offered fresh for the second week ,something we have had in other sites. Parking by lodge was fine one week but a nightmare the next so there is only just enough parking one night i had to park in tent field and come back down when others had gone for the day. The pools and play areas are lovely and it feels so safe to let the children roam. The wifi is rubbish paid for both weeks for 5 devices ended up with 1 working in one corner of lodge as else where you could spend half an hour trying to connect and then for the device to think it wasn't connected because it was so slow.

Very nice, small holiday park. More geared for entertaining children under 10. A little walk into Charnmouth (not a huge amount to do there) but a short drive to Lyme Regis which is worth a visit.
