Fun Days Out in Vale Of York

Dig promises a unique fun and educational experience and is the ideal place for a family day out. The site features four exciting excavation pits filled with Roman, Viking, Medieval and Victorian remains which children will just love digging up! While discovering the treasures children can speak to the friendly staff and learn about the items they are finding.  There are also three discovery rooms where children can try out various archaeological techniques, a science lab where experiments are plentiful and a field tent offering a range of activities. Pre booking is recommended during school holidays and at weekends.

Castle Howard

Castle Howard is a beautiful place for a day trip set within 1,000 acres of glorious parkland and garden. The site is home to the historic castle itself but also has many other attractions including the Land Train which is a great way to explore the park and the Great Lake where boat trips can be enjoyed. During school holidays and at weekends in the summer organised activities such as crafting sessions, animal encounters and educational talks are on offer to ensure that the children are well catered for. Other attractions include the Adventure Playground, Nature Trail, Farm Shop and Café.

Creepy Crawlies
If you have children of varied ages and are looking for a day out to please everyone, then Creepy Crawlies is the perfect choice. The all weather attraction offers fun and games for children up to 12 years old and also provides a place for adults to relax and enjoy a coffee while the kids are playing on the slides, sports area and adventure zone. The site also has a very impressive outdoor area and petting zoo where children can enjoy crafts and meet cute and cuddly animals. Outside there is also a pedal track with Berg Go karts for big children and ride on's for little ones, a pond and a sensory zone where children can touch and feel new and interesting things. You can bring along a picnic to enjoy outside or try a freshly cooked meal at the cafe.
York Maze

York Maze is fast becoming one of the regions top tourist attractions during the summertime.  This year the maze has a new design to make it even more fun and interesting.  The maze is carved out of an amazing 1.5 million growing maize plants and is thought to be the largest maze in the world! Of course the maze is the main attraction of the site, but there are plenty of other things for the whole family to enjoy including an adventure playground, 9 hole crazy golf course and a animal petting area where children can meet the animals that eat the maize and watch pig racing! Tractor and trailer rides around the maize are also available.

Fantastic holiday despite husband having an eye infection so we couldn't go far this time. We find the park very relaxing and the dogs enjoy plenty of walks. Well done Alperton.

it was great value for money and allowed us to have a few days break without braking the bank
I would highly recommend this site to friends and family. Great location, spotlessly clean everything you could ever need.
Great position for visiting different places in Yorkshire
Really loved this place. Quiet and central to a lot of things we wanted to see
The lodge was absolutely beautiful, spacious and so clean, we received a call prior to us setting off, advising us of directions and to wish us a pleasant stay, which really was appreciated. Overall a fantastic holiday and a great base for trips out.
Lovely quiet sight went for new year and was lovely to be away from the usual hype of new year. Staff were very helpful and friendly and caravan and park surrounding really clean.
Usually when we go to the larger holiday park chains we get put in the poorer quality caravans because we have dogfs but this was the best caravan we’ve been in and the park was beautiful being under trees and even though it’s near the A1 it’s lovely and quiet
we have been to this park for 5 or 6 times on the trot.Great base for York, the Dales,North York Moors,Whitby etc.The park is very quite, clean and friendly. The cabins are well maintained and very very clean,if you find anything wrong you tell the staff and it will be put right. Will be going back soon.
A lovely place to relax and take in the peace and quiet of the surroundings, yes the A1 is close by but you don't notice it. Helpful staff, pleasant and chatty even helped us find day kennels for the dog so we could enjoy York. Brilliant dog field great for running about, grandkids enjoyed it as well especially the den in the woods, log cabin was excellent. Play area perfectly ok for kids to let off some steam, laundry as well, and a small information room all in a beautiful wooded park.
We so enjoyed our mid-week break at Allerton Park. The accommodation was very spacious (Lodge) and beautifully presented and furnished. We enjoyed a very warm welcome from the member of staff who showed us our lodge and ran through everything. The position of the lodge was perfect and its surroundings, idyllic. Our party consisted of my elderly mum, my daughter and myself-3 generations and we ALL had a lovely time. A slightly lower mark for facilities on site only because this was a smaller, quieter park.....which is just what we wanted. Although, while we were there, we were visited by my eldest daughter and little granddaughter (who live fairly locally) she enjoyed the little play area and walking around looking for squirrels ☺️ Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet getaway and re-charge!
we loved this holiday park, it was fantastic and would highly recommend
