Close to the beautiful Eden Valley yet within easy reach of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales Chapel Farm offers a tranquil central base for nature lovers walkers and sightseeing. Appleby with its castle and horse fair is 8 miles and popular Kendal is 19 miles.

Historic towns and villages and the 'coast to coast' and Pennine Way long distance paths are all within easy reach. A trip on the scenic Settle – Carlisle railway from Kirby Stephen is a real must.

Accommodation at Chapel Farm is a collection of comfortable caravans sleeping 6.  The Asby model has one double and one twin room and sleeps 4-6 in two bedrooms.  This option is excellent value for money.   We also like the Appleby Caravan which is a 12ft wide luxurious caravan and will suit the more discerning traveler.  All of the caravans come with TV and well equipped kitchens.

Our Top Tip

Fun Days Out in Cumbria

Lake District Wildlife Park

Both children and adults will enjoy a day out here where you can see over 100 species of animals including Zebras and Antelope.  At set times you can go an see Birds of Prey flying displays as well as Zoo Keeper Presentations which are educational as well as fun. If the weather is not on your side then you can make the most of the indoor heated play area and modern cafe.  Located at Coalbeck Farm in Cumbria we think this is a must for families...

Ullswater Steamers

A trip to Cumbria wouldn't be complete without a cruise on the lake and what better way to do this than on an Ullswater Steamer.  Ullswater is widely regarded as the most beautiful of all of the lakes in the area.  This award winning attraction has been in business for 150 years and currently has four vessels operating Ullswater lake cruises.  A further option is to combine a lake cruise with some of the most breathtaking walks in the area.

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery

Described as the number one attraction in Carlisle this place makes a fantastic day out for all the family.  Suitable for all weathers you can take in interesting exhibitions and enjoy interactive fun.  Lookout for special events which take place at various times of year such as Easter weekend and summer holidays. Open daily all year round.

Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis
Lakeland's Wildlife Discovery Centre is the perfect place for a fun day out which is also educational. The unique centre offers visitors the chance to explore many species of exotic wildlife through interactive 'hands-on' displays. These clever displays travel through 3,000 million years of evolution from the development of life on Earth. The centre is home to some of the world's most threatened species and plays an important role in international breeding.

We loved the location and we were glad wee chose to stay at Chapel Farm. It was a peaceful site and the central location meant we were able to visit the Lake District, North Penines, Yorkshire Dales and we even went into Scotland.

We were very pleased with our caravan. Some if the furniture was a little dated and showed some wear and tear but this did not effect our stay. As were were a party of 5, I would have prefered 5 plates, bowles etc but gain this did not effect our stay.
