We had perfect weather and with the fantastic Retreat Lodge and hot tub we had the perfect place to stay and celebrate our sons 18th birthday, the park has undergone major refurbishment and is spectacular, so relaxing, you feel that your in the peace and quiet of the lakes but just a short walk away you have some really good quality pubs in Pooley, we will return that's for definite.

Date of stay: 20th July 2018
The accommodation was excellent and it allowed us the freedom we wanted. The cupboards in the kitchen had all of the kitchenware we needed and more and when we arrived there were teabags, coffee, sugar and milk so that we could make a drink when we got there. A complimentary bottle of wine was also chilled and ready for us.
The hot tub was a great added extra and it was checked twice a day.

This was a short break for me and my husband. My son had stayed there over Easter with his two children. They loved it. He showed us a video of the accomadation and we were impressed. When we arrived and were shown round it with a very friendly member of the park, the video didn't do it justice. It was amazing so modern, clean and everything one needed. It was definitely home from home. I would recommend this park and especially the Sheraton Cottage.

Very helpful friendly staff. Caravan was lovely and clean and had everything you needed. The location was great, just a short stroll into Pooley Bridge where they were all dog friendly pubs. Also close to the steamers to explore the gorgeous area. The only thing missing from the site was somewhere to wash your dog but I understand this is being looked into for the future. Will definitely return.

Stayed in Aspen Lodge at Hillcroft Park. The Lodge was lovely, very well equipped, clean and modern.
The lady in reception on arrival was friendly and very helpful giving directions to the location of our Lodge on the park.
Although we left the evening before check out, it was easy to drop off the key at reception before heading home.
All in all, a relaxing 6 days at Hillcroft Park.
Thank you to all the Park staff.

A very happy holiday during which we managed to do lots. But for the wriggly roads we might have done more! We used the buses a great deal as well to give our driver a rest! Made use of the local pubs but felt their menus were expensive and lacking in imagination.
Kate, Warrington
Date of stay: 22nd September 2017
This was one of the best holiday caravans I have every stayed in. It didn't feel like a rental but a home. The extra details like the toiletries, biscuits and tea coffee facilities were great. The grounds were neat and tidy and well looked after. The staff were always helpful and cheerie. The site is on the hill (hence its name!) and the Fells and lakes are both only a short distance. The village has three pubs which are all dog friendly and worth a visit.

Date of stay: 9th September 2017
We had a wonderful stay Meadowcroft Cottage. Located at the entrance to Hillcroft Park with a wonderful view and glimpses of Ullswater. Plenty of adjacent parking for our 2 cars. Well appointed, secluded and comfortable - Sky TV, log burner, recliners in lounge and hot tub just outside on the private patio. Next door to the park shop, with Reception and recycle area just across the drive. Beds very comfortable - bedding, linen, towels, robes and slippers provided. Beautiful bathroom/ loo and although 5 adults, there was another single public loo situated in the building but accessed from outside, which we were happy to use. Lovely modern kitchen with everything we needed.
Dawn, Greater Manchester
Date of stay: 2nd September 2017
We had a fabulous and relaxing time at Meadowcroft Cottage in August 2017. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Jill who gave us a tour of the cottage and helpfully explained where everything was and where to go to if we needed assistance throughout our stay. I have to say that the cottage was spotlessly clean and immaculately presented. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you would need from the microwave, dishwasher, large cooker, washing machine, tumble dryer, tassimo coffee machine (with complimentary coffee pods), to the wide range of utensils, ample crockery and serving dishes. I was particularly impressed that there was a floor to ceiling fridge and separate floor to ceiling fridge freezer, so plenty of room to store provisions for a party of 6 people. The complimentary bottle of wine and welcome card was a lovely gesture. The living room was spacious and cosy, with great views of the countryside and Ullswater and we even had some Sky Sports channels, much to the delight of my Dad who is an avid football fan! We didn't get to try out the log burner as the weather was so nice, but I would love to come back and sample it in the Winter months. The 3 bedrooms (1 king, 1 double and 1 twin) were all very well presented, with comfortable beds for a relaxing sleep. The king size bedroom had a very large chest of drawers, tall boy, wardrobe and 2 bedside cabinets, so plenty of space to pack away your clothes. The double bedroom had an elegant dressing table and built in wardrobe and the twin bedroom had a bedside cabinet and built in wardrobe. The bathroom was large and luxurious, from the free standing bath, to the double shower. There was also lots of storage space to hide your toiletries from sight. Although we couldn't fault anything, the highlight for us had to be the hot tub. We have been on many hot tub holidays, but this was probably the best one because the views were stunning whilst still feeling secluded, all the jets and lights were in full working order, the temperature was just right when we arrived (no waiting till the next day for it to warm up), the hot tub was checked up to 3 times each day and finally complimentary bath robes and slippers were provided for each guest. You couldn't wish to meet nicer people than the staff at Hillcroft; everyone was so friendly and wanted to make sure you were having a great time. We were sad to leave after a week's stay but the complimentary homemade ginger biscuits kindly given to us by a Jill helped to soften the blow on the journey home. Thanks again to the staff at Hillcroft - a wonderful park in a great location. We hope to visit again in the near future.

2 bedrooms complete with en-suite & a separate bathroom.
Outside was a secure decking area ideal for the dog, complete with furniture
The lodge was spotlessly clean upon arrival. Highly recommended and well worth a 2nd visit.

Date of stay: 18th August 2017
On arrival we were told that we had been upgraded to a larger lodge. The ratings relate to that lodge, a Hampshire, not the Hillcroft (pet).

I made a late booking so the price was discounted. Especially together with the upgrade, this represented excellent value for money.

|Hillcroft Park, was ideal for our 1st Cambrian escape and it wont be the last.

Everything fine, a new lodge.
Minor comments , we only had one large bath sheet with three smaller bath towels and a hook behind the bathroom door would be useful.

Date of stay: 29th July 2017
I have put said all my feedback about this in the first part part of this survey.

My review was that the accommodation was fully equipped, well furnished and comfortable to relax in. The accommodation's layout was good and it was pet friendly. The amenities and facilities were great and it was nice that the accommodation was warm and inviting. As the accommodation was spacious we could all relax. Good ambiance in nice setting and surrounding. Pretty furnishings to make the accommodation feel homely.

The accomodation we stayed in was a caravan (Atlanta 25) and was really clean and fully kitted out with everything we needed. Fully fitted kitchen, crockery, fridge microwave, dishwasher...everything you'd use at home. I was very surprised to be frank. Master bedroom had an ensuite and the overall decor was very modern.

Well presented lodges in a beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful site, but with lots to see and do in surrounding area. There a number of pubs and cafes in Pooley Bridge so neve r stuck for places to eat out. The site is on a hill but has never been an issue. Both dogs had a fab time and would like to go again.

Cottage was lovely really clean and tidy. It was a nice touch to leave us some milk (and wine) and the hot tub was great and even though the cottage was at the front of the park it was private and quiet. The scenery round about was lovely. We really enjoyed visiting many of the surrounding areas and will come back here to stay and would recommend it.

Superb break for families. We stayed in the cottage before the main park opened for the season and it was fantastic. The staff were welcoming and obliging with any requests that we had and we were greeted with a pint of milk and bottle of wine (the little things that really make a difference!) Jacuzzi was clean and well maintained and the bonus was the previously unadvertised Sky TV package which included movies and sport!

Location is superb for both energetic and the not so, with Keswick only 15 minutes away.

Not the cheapest but certainly justified with the quality of accommodation on offer.

A return is definitely on the cards - Thank you to all staff and owners.

The cottage looked nice from the pictures but was so much better when we got there. It was decorated and equipped to a very high standard with everything you can think of needing being provided. A great relief to a busy mum who has to try to think of everything for everyone! The little touches like the welcome card made it even better

Caravan was first class. Well equipped and very clean.

We were not expecting such a high class caravan as we had booked to take our dog with us, but were surprised to find that the accommodation was the equivalent of staying in a 5 star hotel in terms of comfort and facilities.
We were even provided with a bottle of wine on arrival. Nice touch that!

There were also some nice toiletries in both of the bathrooms too.

The park is a doggy heaven and our border collie would have loved it had he lived to get there.

Fantastic little place, ideal for what I was looking for - tranquility with an amazing view. The complimentary bottle of wine and milk in the fridge set the weekend off to a great start. Overall, really nice stay :)

Spotlessly clean, stylishly decorated. Plenty of room for entertaining when inviting friends over from another lodge. Every utensil you could think of in the kitchen, nice & warm lodge. Only reason we have it 9/10 is that the hot tub isn't very private its at the side of the lodge behind the parking spaces. Otherwise a perfect stay.

Hillcroft lodge was absolutely perfect for our stay this Christmas. The standard of the lodge was really outstanding. We were also left a complementary Christmas hamper with a selection of wonderful cakes and biscuits and a Christmas tree lit in the corner of the room. This was a lovely touch!
Unfortunately due to the horrendous weather this prevented us from doing all the things we wanted to do. But we will definitely booking for next Christmas! A big thank you to the owners of Hillcroft park, beautiful :)

The lodge was clean and well presented when we arrived. We had very small glasses and wine glasses but it would have been nice to have some pint glasses and some tall water glasses. On the whole though, we had what we needed and everything was clean.
The lodge had a wooden decking which was gated so that our dog could safely wander out in the fresh air and we sat out in the sun in October!! The outside light was not working and the shower over the bath was dripping so these need attention.
We enjoyed our stay and would like to visit Hillcroft Park again in the future.
Joanne, Manchester

This lodge is perfectly adequate for a family of 5 or 6 . Plenty of crockery and towels etc. very clean and nice and cosy. We made use of the hot tub every day especially at night. Nicely fitted out, fairly new so everything worked. Hot water & heating very efficient, kept us warm when needed. Master bedroom, double bed, tight around end of bed, leading to ensuite bathroom and walk in wardrobe. Second bedroom smaller with two singles, main bathroom opposite. LED downlights everywhere, very controllable so could relax watching large TV with just the right ammount of lighting. Large expansive French windows onto balcony, sit and take in the fantastic views. We were a couple and it was off season and quiet.
Overall: brilliant.

This was one of the best lodges we've stayed in, loved the privacy of the hot tub (did notice others were in full view of other lodges ) very clean with everything you could possibly need only one criticism and that would be that most of the crockery was chipped.

We stayed in a Hillcroft lodge last year, and an Atlanta this year. Minor points were there were no sheets for the fold down bed in the living room area, and the two blankets would be a struggle for warmth in the colder months i would guess. However, the standard of lodge, and noting it allowed pets was very high.

This is becoming a regular haunt for us. Love the location and the lodges are well equipped, clean and very well maintained. Complimentary wine and milk on arrival. Was very pleased to find that this year the lodge we stayed in had been fitted with an external gate to the decking area that meant we could let the dogs out without fear of them escaping. To top it all the weather was almost Mediterranean and in April!!! Couldn't ask for anything more. Will be back next year. Note the park is on a hill and is a 5-10min walk into Pooley Bridge where there a number of pubs to get food. The launch for the Ulswater "steamer" is also to close hand for trips around Ulswater (recommended). Overall a good base to explore this beautiful part of the UK.

The cottage was very well decorated with all the modern equipment with some welcome items, which was lovely.

It may be beneficial to collate the information on use of the hot tub as the park's rules differed to the instructions given by the company

We would certainly recommend the cottage to other people.

Had a wonderful stay, bungalow is lovely, kitchen fitted out with all amenities, high quality furnishings, spacious bedrooms, large family bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower, even has a tv! big screen TV with sky, fabulous views from lounge window over fields with ulleswater in the distance, great hot tub on the patio decking, with outdoor dining area.
Helen, Leeds
Date of stay: 7th March 2015
Very relaxing, retreat lodge with hot tub had everything we could need. Kitchen modern and has everything, even a wine fridge. Private decking woodland view in hot tub. Owners so friendly and helpful. Perhaps needs one single bed removing when trying to fit a travel cot inside, wet room easily starts to flood the bedroom carpet a little, but such minor points to an otherwise perfect stay. Will definitely book again!

we found the cottage to be of an exceptionally high standard with everything present as described plus more that hadn't been like tea ,coffee, milk and even a complimentary bottle of wine. A superb place for a break!

Meadowcroft cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard. It was lovely and cosy and the hot tub is always lovely for a relax - ! The bathroom is huge - and even has a TV. The only small criticism is that it could do with a second bathroom - especially when 3 couples staying.
Tom, Warrington
Date of stay: 6th February 2015
The cottage was immaculate on arrival and had been pre heated for us due to the cold weather on the day of arrival.
The decor was homely and in good condition. It appeared if the cottage had been recently decorated

The Atlanta was a beautiful caravan, very modern and clean, plenty of space in the lounge /kitchen area. The only thing was the radiators
in the hall and bathrooms were too hot, as we couldn't adjust them.
overall it was superb accommodation.

Retreat lodge far exceeded our expectations. Very spacious, lovely large decking surrounding the cabin and excellent woodland views from the rear where the hot tub is, very private. Spotlessly clean, cosy inside & fully equipped kitchen. Lovely surprise hamper & wine on arrival. We stayed over Christmas & had everything we needed, the hot tub was a bonus.

Date of stay: 27th December 2014
Excellent accommodation. We stayed over Christmas. The park did an excellent job in making the lodge look very festive. The was of a high standard and extremely comfortable. There was nothing you actually needed, the kitchen had all the utensils and cooking equipment you could possibly need. I was very impressed with this as it made cooking painless.
The accommodation was extremely warm which was perfect for the cold wintery weather outside.
Views were perfect from our lodge and with only a 5-10min walk into Pooley Bridge it made this the perfect location to explore the area.
I would certainly recommend this park and will definitely return.

The lodge itself was very well thought out and was nice to have little extras such as hairdryer, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc. Little touches like that makes such a difference and is apreciated. Was nice to come accross an easy to work tv and dvd player! Was all very comfortable and we were very pleased with the accommodation.

Date of stay: 8th November 2014
Spacious and comfortable accommodation. Only very minor problems, such as wardrobe doors rather flimsy and prone to coming off their tracks, electric shower in bathroom weak at higher temperature. It would be helpful if they included details of recycling arrangements in information packs in the accommodation and instructions for appliances.

We stayed in pet friendly home with having a small schnauzer. Previous occupiers have allowed their pets to sit on sitting areas which left a doggie odour on cussions and settees. I personally take clean blankets for my pet to sit on.

Date of stay: 6th October 2014
The house itself was lovely - nicely decorated and clean. The downside of having pre-schoolers was there were a lot of ornaments around which we had to hide! It was handy having a washing machine, dishwasher and blu-ray player and the Hot Tub was lovely for relaxing in even if the weather was cold! We felt like we were in the best spot of the whole place with lovely views. Much nicer than other similar accommodation we have been in!

Michael
We really enjoyed our holiday lodge. The site was very clean and tidy. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. We will visit again. Thank you very much hillcroft park.
Susan
As a family we would highly recommend Hillcroft Park. We stayed in Meadow Bank Cottage the view from the hot tub was amazing - the garden area was set out to provide privacy but still managed to provide uninterrupted views. The cottage was very well equipt (tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and plenty of bin bags/dishwasher tablets etc) these items often sadly lacking at holiday parks. The staff were friendly and helpful and always seemed happy. This is a family run business, the family seemed to be very involved with the day to day running and very approachable. Unfortunately my husband was in a lot of pain during our stay due to a displaced disc in his back - this meant that we were unable to fully explore the area, we will definitely return as soon as his health improves to discover the beautiful countryside.
Robert
Lovely clean caravan. The site and surroundings were well kept. Nice and peaceful.
S

Katherine
The lodge we stayed in was immaculate and was fantastic to get complimentary milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. The staff were very helpful and friendly, as were the other holiday makers. Hillcroft is in a beautiful spot and great to be so close to the village. I can't wait to visit again!
Alison
Lovely, relaxing break in beautiful surroundings.
Alan
We had a break booked at Keswick lodge that was cancelled twice due to weather and this was an alternative we booked. We were given a more expensive cabin at the same price for our troubles and I think we got an even better location as well.
Stuart
A great 5 days away. Site is clean and staff are really helpfully.
Jo-Anne
Excellent, we will be back!

Fun Days Out near Hillcroft Park

about 7 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...

This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.

Here at the Wildlife Oasis you can really get up close to the animals and experience a mix of exotic wildlife and hand son displays.  See butterflies, birds and even bats flying around.  You don't have to plan your visit according to weather either with the tropical hall and butterfly house undercover.  Sunny days are ideal for some of the inhabitants however with the monkeys and Lemurs loving to sunbathe.  The mission of Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis is to engender and foster an interest and appreciation of the natural world which, in our belief underpins wildlife conservation; and, where possible to contribute and encourage contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places.  You know that you are helping with this mission if you choose to visit.

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
