Set on a private beach and surrounded by peaceful countryside, Mersea Island Holiday Park has some first class facilities including an outdoor heated pool, live family entertainment, adventure play area and an on-site clubhouse.

Where's Mersea Island Holiday Park?
Julie, Aveley , Essex
Date of stay: 8th July 2018
Overall we enjoyed our time there , our caravan had not been cleaned properly on arrival.
I did report it to reception , toiletries left in cupboard from previous guest & cat litter left under the sink! The microwave didn't work either but we dint need it so didn't report that.

We were in Poplars number 41 -
I had requested we as a family group with two other families be together & was told we would be in the same row & we were but would have been nice to all be next to each other?
Susan, Essex

The caravan was lovely. The fixtures and fittings were of a high standard and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and included a built in microwave. A very nice touch was the addition of towels and toiletries waiting for us upon arrival.
Also, there was a lovely, and unexpected treat bag for our dog, which he loved.
Olumuyiwa, Bromley / London

Nice holiday in all but could do with more activities and games for kids
The price was good and would visit again at the same offer
David, Ware
Date of stay: 1st September 2017
The caravan was brilliant.....we requested a balcony however wasn't expecting one so when we realised we had one it was a great addition. There were doggy bags with goodies in, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits in a basket, towels with soap, shower gel and shampoo's It was like turning up to a hotel rather than a caravan.
There was only a couple of issues which are small - there was a dirty radiator in the bathroom which with a bit of elbow grease could have been cleaned. Also the toaster was a real cheap one which couldn't really fit normal sized bread in there......it had to be squashed in! The extractor fan was working, but again these are things that can be resolved by the owners pretty easily.
Overall we were very impressed with the caravan and was one of the better ones we have stayed in.
Gary, Woolwich
Date of stay: 7th August 2017

Date of stay: 22nd August 2016
We stayed as a family of 4 in a newer 3 bed caravan. It was our first time in Mersea Island and we used the site as a base to do a bit of exploring. The Mersea Island Holiday Park was quiet and didnt have loads of activities, but this suited us. The site shop was very well stocked and the staff were very helpful. We didnt get round to using the swimming pool as it was a bit cloudy, but people were in the pool. The Bar was small but welcoming and there was entertainment.. Overall we would be going back to this park..

Date of stay: 3rd June 2016
Very comfortable stylish carvan with lots of space very relaxing.
Wayne, Chester
Date of stay: 30th May 2016
Excellent quality caravan, some bits were a bit rough but only the bits you would expect on a caravan that has to be used every day by demanding families, some people have unrealistic expectations of static caravans, this one was great by comparison to some others ive stayed in. The van was marked down slightly on score because a couple of the fittings had not been replaced after previous people had broken or smashed them.
Gill, Gosport
Date of stay: 23rd May 2016

Date of stay: 7th March 2014
Staff and caravan were great. Very disappointed with the poor facilities on the site.
Would consider using sister site, Waldergove, if we return to the area.
Pauline
Lovely park have stayed here before highly recommend
Diana
Wonderfully clean caravan. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only reason I gave low mark for surrounding was because of the muddy field we had to cross to access the club house. Would have been nice to have a path of some sort but instead we sunk in the muddy fields as it had been raining. Overall, it was a perfect holiday, thank you
Annette
Clean surroundings and caravan. Well maintained site with very helpful staff.
sarah
We had a lovely break, caravan was lovely, returning in may
Heather
Fantastic quiet holiday just what we wanted, caravan was excellent Clean, tidy and modern.
Robert
Great place.Caravans were lovely.Very nice at reception.
Jackdeo
An ideal location for a peaceful holiday.
Pat
Great welcome on arrival and helpful staff throughout. Dog friendly with a much appreciated welcome pack for our furry friend. Caravan was clean and fresh, although signs of wear this did not detract from enjoyment or comfort. Mersea Island too had some interesting places to visit, and the site was not far from Colchester too. We were on a short break so did not find the visits too repetitive.
Sarah
A lovely clean and tidy Park. Caravan was exceptional and felt like home from home. The grounds were well cared for and all the staff really friendly. Will stay again.
Sally
Had a fab time. Have booked another 2 mini breaks already.
Mark
Lovely resort , second time visiting , so relaxing. Beautiful caravans and lovely touch having wine and beers in fridge and then a doggy present being delivered - will definitely be back next year.
Christine
Superb location. Caravan spotless and well equipped. Staff extremely helpful. Pool lovely. Only limitation was no cafe/restaurant facilities (though staff directed us to a nice pub and restaurant walking distance which was very good) and shop closes at 6 pm so a problem for anyone arrive later without pre-prepared meal with them. P.S. Comedian was terrible - late starting, not funny and boring. Most people left before he finished. Would rather have just had the music on.
Leahanne
Picture perfect site. We had the pool to ourselves. Caravan was luxurious even though it was a basic one. Loved this place

This attraction is currently under construction but we are looking forward to it opening in early 2011.  The philosophy of the Discovery Centre is 'healthy body, healthy mind, healthy planet and aims to change people's attitudes and actions towards our planet.  Educational as well as fun there are plenty of activities such as outdoor sport pitches, cycle and walking trails and indoor activity rooms.  This is a unique attraction for the whole family.

This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
about 31 Miles
Wildwood Trust is well worth a visit if you are staying in the local area.  You can experience close encounters with native wildlife - all in a beautiful forest setting.  You will find this attraction between the coastal town of Herne Bay and the ancient city of Canterbury.  There is a wide variety of animals to see including badgers, foxes and otters. Kids will also love the animal encounters sessions, playground and games and quizzes.  Check out their website for the latest admission prices which are excellent value for a family day out in Kent.

This is a museum with a difference and a must see if you are into horse racing.  You can take guided tours around the museum or choose to wander round yourself admiring the exhibits.  New for 2010 is a Junior Fun Tour which is ideal for children.  Simply ask the gallery staff for a Fun Tour pack when you enter the museum and kids can answer questions and spot clues and tips on the way round.  One of the most popular recent exhibitions is the Thoroughbred: State of the Art exhibition in Gallery 5 on until 31st October.  Check out their websites for the latest exhibitions.
