Close to many of the outstanding beaches of the North-west coast this well-maintained park sits on the edge of the traditional Victorian seaside resort of Southport. Perfect for a relaxing break.

The bright lights of world-famous Blackpool and vibrant Liverpool the 2008 European Capital of Culture are only a short drive away.  There are many fun days out in this region.  Blackpool Pleasure Beach is well worth a visit just 10 miles from the park.  Here you can enjoy an array of rides and attractions including the new South Beach Musical.  If you are interested in sea life then you could visit the Sea Life Centre at Blackpool or even the Blue Planet Aquarium a little further afield at Ellesmere Port.  Football fans would enjoy a trip to the National Football Museum in Preston where you can take an interesting journey through the history of football.

Accommodation is a selection of good quality caravans sleeping 6 or 8.  We like the Riverside Platinum caravans which provide a luxurious base for your stay.  Other options include the Riverside Silver and Riverside Gold caravans all of which come with 2 or 3 bedrooms.  You will find well designed kitchens and TV in all of the accommodation and beds are made up for your arrival in the Platinum Caravans.

Small niggle... the location of the toilet roll holder in the main washroom doesn't work, but given the position of the heater there aren't any other options.

Unless we can find out more of what is going on on the site I don't think we will be using that camp site again we will look for somewhere with a lot more things to do.

Date of stay: 28th August 2017
Whilst the caravans are spotless and very comfortable - the park is more of a residential park than holiday park - a bit like being on a traveller park
Nehgut, Birmingham
Date of stay: 25th August 2017
I enjoyed my break with my family we went out to beach everyday.
Cas, Warrington
Date of stay: 11th August 2017
The only slight downside I have is noisy neighbours at the weekend, though did stop around midnight and a yappy dog belonging to adjacent neighbours who was let out on its own to yap and foul without restriction and with no one cleaning up after it.

Date of stay: 9th June 2017
See above review. We were very impressed with the standards of both the mobile home itself and the equipment provided. Clean and quiet, free along-side parking, 4G mobile signal (no wifi) all helped make our stay comfortable and relaxing.
We did not use the restaurant at all so cannot comment on that.
Carol, Cheshire
Date of stay: 29th May 2017
the cooker was broken so we had to use the cafe it was reported and the staff dealt with it within 30 mins and the dvd player wasn't working on the tv again the staff dealt with this quickly - also the water heater stopped working it was a dealt with in minutes - staff very good we were just unlucky with the van we were allocated
Sharron, Stoke On Tent
Date of stay: 12th May 2017
Lovely clean caravan with everything you could need for a great comfortable holiday
John, Criccieth
Date of stay: 12th May 2017
As above - though there was one fault (reported to office on leaving) regarding safety. Caravan was beautiful and had double glass doors at gable end of living room. These opened onto what should either have been an elevated decking area or set of steps, but there was nothing there and an unsuspecting person stepping through this doorway would fall 2 feet onto a gravel surface.
Elizabeth, Harrogate
Date of stay: 8th May 2017
Will definitely visit again

Date of stay: 7th May 2016
On entering the camp the old building on the left of the entrance created a poor first impression. The club house building was very tired looking and once agoin doesn't create a very good first impression.
Keith, Bolton
Date of stay: 2nd May 2016
The 3 bedroom caravan was well equipped and very comfortable. The master bedroom was spacious , having enough room for a travel cot and it also had an en-suite toilet and washbasin. The twin bedrooms were ok and all the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was also well equipped , but we felt it lacked a few items ie bread board and bread bin. The lounge was also comfortable and with double glazing and central heating we were all kept warm and cosy.
Tanya, Fleetwood

Both caravans spotless and very spacious. Definitely worth paying the extra for Platinum.

One point knocked off as there was damage to my daughter's caravan. There was a hole in one of the internal doors and also in the lounge window.

However, the staff on site were aware of the problems and had a job rota to get them fixed as soon as possible.

Our caravan was beautiful, spots sheets and duvets left for the beds, with plenty of extras if needed, all the kitchen crockery, utensils and appliances were spotless as well, as we're the bathrooms. The master bedroom, was a great size with a little ensuite wc and basin and lots of wardrobe space. The smaller bedroom, was fit for purpose and did its job well. We chose a caravan with central heating and it was lovely, caravan was toasty warm throughout the stay and there was a lovely electric fire in the living room, which heated the room up almost instantly. The caravan was very modern, with flat screen free view tv.

Lovely accommodation with huge walk in shower/wash room as one of our party members has a learning disability. However glass table wasnt a good idea specially when the glass was just attached to frame with some suckers not secure at all so everytime you lent on table the glass would come off and everything would almost go on floor, not the best with someone with any kind of disability who doesnt understand!

We have visited many times always in a similar caravan. The one we stayed in was beautiful. But wad let down not being clean. I had to clean the en-suite toilet and wipe the table and brush the floor..

Had a very nice break. Camp is well situated in the countryside a few miles out of Southport. We had visited previously a few years ago but it has improved since then with added facilities. Caravan was great, everything we needed in it. Modern and spacious, en-suite toilet as well as shower room/bathroom.

Caravan was lovely,so we had a very pleasant stay apart from the poor and abusive attitude of the staff at the swimming pool. Also no information is provided regarding opening/booking of pool. Entertainment was limited.

Date of stay: 23rd August 2014
Fantastic platinum caravan. Site fine for us as we wouldn't really use the bar/facilities with two young children. Pool was chilly the first time but once fixed was great . Little bit further away from the centre of southport than I had anticipated but wasn't really a problem. Could have done with the shop selling a larger variety of items

This was our second visit to Riverside and enjoyed it very much. The on-site facilities are not great but staff are very helpful and the park is in a great location for easy access to Southport. You can even get the bus from the park to Liverpool. Would recommend the platinum caravans are they are of a very high standard.

Booked a 4 night holiday and had a great time. We stayed in a Platinum caravan and it was amazing, definitely worth paying extra for it, we received a lovely welcome pack upon our arrival in caravan which was much appreciated. Kids entertainment slightly disappointing. There are plenty of buses to take you from holiday park to Southport as you will need to rely on transport. No cash machines on site but you can use your card in bar/cafe providing you spend over £10. Great booking system for swimming pool, this prevents over crowding. Would definitely return again hopefully next year.

Very clean, comfortable caravan.
Site itself could do with a bit of updating especially the entertainment block and shop.

I was surprised at the closeness of the very busy road and the facilities were pretty average but the caravan was so clean and modern, very different from any caravan I've ever stayed in and my children just wanted to stay in the caravan they loved it that much which was fine by us!
Nicky, Swindon

The Caravan (Platinum) was lovely but the park did not have enough facilities/entertainment for families. Also the park was a bit far out of Southport so although we had a fairly good holiday we would not stay at Riverside again.
Martyn, Doncaster
Date of stay: 15th August 2014
Very quiet site with easy access to Southport. Also very clean. Staff were great. We used the site as a base mostly and made trips out. The caravan was super, and very clean. Contained everything but a hair dryer. The onsite pool was nice, and you could book in for 1 hour slots, so it was never over crowded. The shop was cheap and had a good supply of everything with quite a few offers on. There is also a small play area by the camping site end of the camp. Didnt use the bar but it looked pretty big and there is also a takeaway/restaurant. A small launderette is also available. About £3.50 per wash and £1.70 drying. There is a but into town and various other things going on locally so you have no need to be bored on camp. remember to take some cash as there is no cashpoint or cashback facility. There is also a £20 deposit required for your caravan key. You also need a pound for the swimming lockers. We loved our 4 night break and have booked again for next year.

Found the location of the holiday park ideal for my plans for the week. The bar, pool and food were all good however entertainment was poor and the arcade had more broken machines than ones that worked.

We had a fantasic time. Thr caravan was gorgeous, very clean and well furnished. Everything we needed was supplied. The only down fall would be the pub/resturant , we only atr there once as we didnt get what we ordered, the cutulrey was dirty and it was very over priced.

The area where we stayed were lovely. The only problem we had were on the Monday, after the Saturday we booked in were the family that moved into the next caravan were very noisy and untidy. Running around the other caravans until 10 o'clock at night. That were the only downside. Everything else were great.

Really enjoyed Southport Riverside it was ideal for going to Southport. Staff friendly & helpful & the pool was fantastic for all ages. Only two things that let it down was no entertainment only on the Thursday night & the amusements weren't work in other than that a lovely site.

Date of stay: 18th July 2014
The pool was closed due to a fault the first 2 days of our holiday, no entertainment at all during our stay and all machines in the amusements were jammed for the duration of our stay even though I reported it to reception staff. The caravan was excellent and we had a great holiday sightseeing around the area.

The Holiday was good because we made it good, but the Park offered minimal entertainment when really they should have said NO entertainment! The Shop was not stocked well, for instance there was no milk, no butter, no bread (basics really). There was no lifeguard at the pool, and the arcade is poor! The only good thing on the park was the caravan itself and the surroundings, it was clean, comfortable and tidy. There is a little river with ducks on it and it was quite picturesque. The staff were nice and I don't blame them for the state of the park itself and the facilities.

Overall it was a nice break. Waiting time for food was appallingly & unnecessarily long; had we had not paid upfront we would have gone elsewhere. Complaining made no difference what-so-ever, they just weren't interested. The accommodation itself was spotless and extremely comfortable.
Stuart
Excellent holiday at Riverside,Southport, the caravan was brand new, very comfy, the only thing we didn't like was the bar didn't take cash, you have to pay by card.
Rachael
We used the caravan as somewhere just to sleep so cant comment on the facilities of the park as we didnt use them. Although we did want to use the shop and takeaway service at 6pm most nights and it wasnt open. So that didn't help. But still didn't effect our overall stay.
Jade
Booked as a last min mini break with my 2 children and my husband we really enjoyed ourselves the caravan is brand new and really big kitchen with everything you need and beds really comfy...... nice quiet park the park was really big with a large play area for kids pool was pretty small wasn’t to full as booked for morning so was empty...... overall lovely place will be going back for a week in the 6 weeks holiday we stayed in a platinum caravan 2 bedrooms also the couch turns into a bad aswell which is helpful has a cooker microwave fridge ect .... and a nice warm fire very cosy.....
Joe

St Winefride's Well in Flintshire is described at one of the 7 wonders of Wales and is shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Legend has it that the well first erupted at the spot where Caradog cut off the nuns head with his sword. The shrine was then erected in her memory in the first decade of the sixteenth century and remains one of the holiest places in Wales. The stunning temple and well attract visitors from all over the world. Water can be drawn from the spring basin within the crypt and is thought to be lucky.

Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.

Here at the Wildlife Oasis you can really get up close to the animals and experience a mix of exotic wildlife and hand son displays.  See butterflies, birds and even bats flying around.  You don't have to plan your visit according to weather either with the tropical hall and butterfly house undercover.  Sunny days are ideal for some of the inhabitants however with the monkeys and Lemurs loving to sunbathe.  The mission of Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis is to engender and foster an interest and appreciation of the natural world which, in our belief underpins wildlife conservation; and, where possible to contribute and encourage contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places.  You know that you are helping with this mission if you choose to visit.

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
