The double bed kept rising from its moorings unexpectedly, and then wouldn't stay down, we eventually found some rope on the beach to fix it. (This was in June earlier this year)
In September the rope was still there..but as we didn't report it, it's not surprising

We had a lovely time and would stay here again, places that are outside the area are not that for away from the site within half an hour to an hour drive, some of the road's are a bit narrow, but overall a lovely place to stay and see.

The caravan was excellent, very clean and comfortable, particularly the beds. Excellent television on a fantastic spinning support which meant you could watch in the dining area or the lounge area. The sachets of tea, coffee and biscuits upon arrival were very welcome!

The tarnside unit was very pleasant and I can image in the height of summer with the access door to the decking area open and relaxing outdoors it would be marvellous.

Couldn't fault the caravan but again we think it was over priced.

Date of stay: 24th July 2015
Our Willoughby caravan was modern and gorgeous, with a perfect sea view!
En-suite toilet was useful in the night and all was to a clean standard, even the spider webs (which we didn't mind, as we are both gardeners/outdoorsy folk).
Could have benefited from a toaster, but not majorly important.

A very quiet and pleasant site. Superb view/access to the beach. More suitable for couples looking for a peaceful break than young families such as ourselves due to limited child friendly attractions nearby.

We were looking for a location that was safe for our grandchildren to play in and quiet enough for them to get to sleep each night and stay that way until the morning. Our van was clean, well equipped and comfortable, the local beaches were perfect and the view each evening from the decking was splendid.. We had a lovely, relaxing holiday. Thank you.

Date of stay: 8th July 2014
Excellent sea view. Comfortable bed and spacious living area. Constant hot water and would have certainly appreciated the central heating and the double glazing if the weather had warranted it!
Date of stay: 28th June 2014
It was a very relaxing holiday and brilliant for our dog it was so nice that we did not have to have her tied up at all times as this can cause stress to some dogs (depends on the breed). I have recommended this park to a friend who has a dog and has a tent as we saw a couple of tents on the site when we were there. We will be re visiting your park as liked the spot that was allocated to us C1.Thanks and we will see you again.

The directions were from St Bees - this road was terrible it would have been better to come in from Braystone( I think that was the name)

If you want a quiet relaxing holiday this park ideal we brought own food ect there is no shop on the site . There is a club/bar but can't comment as didn't go there . The caravan was spotless and located overlooking the beach if you like walking or cycling there's plenty of country lanes .

A beautiful place! Stunning Sunset & Sunrise almost everyday from our caravan balcony!!! So relaxing & peaceful holiday ever... can't wait to go there again.. hopefully soon... thanks for very friendly lady at the reception for all your help...
We have stayed at Tarnside before about 7 years ago. I now prefer this area to the actual Lake District National Park. It's much more friendly, empty and beautiful and there is still an abundance of walks on your doorstep. The view from our caravan was out of this world and we were up and out on the beach every morning with the dogs for a pre breakfast walk just because we could. The clubhouse was reasonably prices and the food excellent. Didn't even need to get the car out to go for a cheeky pint Will definitely be back.
Good location of caravan Nice and quiet site few minutes from the beach very friendly staff on hand when we arrived caravan was already for us even had the heating for us All of our family really love Tarnside Park Looking forward to coming back soon
What a lovely quiet, tranquil, clean, well maintained site. Our caravan was spotless. When we had a little problem with our boiler it was rectified within hours. The view over the sea was spectacular.
Caravan could do with some repairs but had a nice quiet time.
Lovely quiet location perfect views. Would come again!
Fantastic get away from it all location. Great sea view from the caravan. Dogs loved the walks on the beach.
Fantastic caravan. Couldn't fault it and the whole family impressed. Great location looking over the cliff straight to the sea. Great sunsets. Great place for peace and quiet but also perfect for kids to run around safely. Would definitley return.

Fun Days Out near Tarnside Park

about 20 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.

Here at the Wildlife Oasis you can really get up close to the animals and experience a mix of exotic wildlife and hand son displays.  See butterflies, birds and even bats flying around.  You don't have to plan your visit according to weather either with the tropical hall and butterfly house undercover.  Sunny days are ideal for some of the inhabitants however with the monkeys and Lemurs loving to sunbathe.  The mission of Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis is to engender and foster an interest and appreciation of the natural world which, in our belief underpins wildlife conservation; and, where possible to contribute and encourage contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places.  You know that you are helping with this mission if you choose to visit.

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
about 37 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.

This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
