Visitor Reviews of Seal Bay

Mrs Reeves
Our family of 4 stayed at west sands this summer and we were really close to the beach which was good. There was also plenty to do on site which I would describe than bigger than average compared to other parks we have stayed in. The only thing that spoilt our holiday a bit was a noisy family in the caravan next to us but I think that's the luck of the draw and not something you can control! Other than that we would go back.

Communication was an absolute disaster. The day we checked in, no one gave us the entrainment passes and the digital key didnt work. The receptionist asked us to go to security office as we came after 5:30 so didnt do nothing. Finally after over an hour we managed to get in the caravan. Even next day we didnt get the passes so we couldnt use the swimming pool. Last day we got the passes so we used the pool and shows. Everything else other than pool and entertainment were paid which I felt few things like soft play could be free. Caravan was too small with one toilet and shower.

Caravan was nice and central in the park, few minutes walk to waterfront quays club & restaurants which was great; the caravan had everything we needed for our stay, bed and pillows were very comfortable, the carpets were quite grubby, but it was a dog caravan and we had crocs so it wasnt a problem, only issue we had was trying to unlock the caravan door via the app on my mobile when we arrived, took quite a few attempts.

Far too expensive now. With 3 kids, its just not affordable. The activities are so expensive we couldnt afford to do anything on site. Anything we could afford to do was all booked out as everyone pre books.

So the accommodation we stayed in was very clean and was spacious, I am not sure why they claimed it was for up to 6 people as if that is the case then 2 people would be sleeping on the sofa which isn't that comfortable. The walls are paper thin so you will hear a lot of noise, the doors are opened and closed by either your phone or a key fob, which is great but our neighbours didn't realise that you needed to use the phone of fob to also lock the door, so at 10pm they were banging the doors constantly which disturbed our young children. But overall it was fine, this is still one of the best static caravans we have been to.My only complaint is that you have to pay for WiFi in the caravan which is a daily rate, which in 2023 is ridiculous and seems like another way of making money out of an already expensive stay for two nights. So if you have an unlimited data plan or a lot of data with your phone contract then I would suggest you use your phone as a hotspot to connect to all your kids devices.Lastly there was a lot of conflicting information about the check out time, one email said 11am but then another said 9am and stated that any other emails should be ignored, so we left at 9am to find out that everyone else seemed to have left at 11am, we have two very young children who didn't appreciated having to get up and leave so early.

Super beach pads - would definitely re-book.
Upstairs, in the sleeping area was lots of thick dust. Also, had to clean the pull out 'drawer' where the previous tenant had cut bread. This was not clean.

Otherwise, lovely holiday. I just wish we were closer so we could visit more often.
Thank you.

I went to West Sands with my 2 children (14 & 12) at the end of July and we had a fabulous time. It helped that the weather was amazing so we were able to make full use of the amazing beach (very pebbly so bring beach shoes). We loved climbing the rocks and watching the Sunsets. The facilities were great and my children loved the arcade and of course the swimming pools.
I did however find a real lack of signage considering how large the site is. We got lost a couple of times in the first couple of days and had trouble finding the outside lido. You actually have to leave the site altogether and walk along a road without a pavement to get to a sister park but there were no signs to say this so we ended up turning round and having to queue up in reception to check we were heading in the right direction.
As far as Covid was concerned, I found the caravan exceptionally clean, they limited the amount of people in the swimming pools and closed the changing rooms but I was surprised that they did not insist on us wearing masks in anywhere other than the small shop. The arcade was very much lacking in social distancing etiquette and although there was hand gel scattered around I did not once see anyone in there cleaning.
Covid also meant you could only book the inside pool once every 2 days and you were limited to 20 mins in the outside pool before you had to get out and queue again but that was not the fault of the park, that was just unfortunate circumstances.
Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely come back again.

Caravan was a little smaller than some we have visited before but it had everything we needed and for four people it wasnt too squashed. Furnishings were great, kitchen kitted out well and beds very comfy.

Site is well kept. Facilities are good but where quite busy, especially the lido. Restaurants are pretty average.
Frances
Fabulous location. Easy to get around the site too. Lovely staff and I particularly loved the strawberry in my Prosecco!
Stephen
We stayed at West sands resort and we had a really good time. Caravan was very clean and had all we needed in it and was within walking distance to all facilities including beach.the club house and pool are great.the only downside was that all the extra activities on site came at an extra cost and not cheap either, luckily my family just wanted to swim and go on the beach so it was okay.
Beata
Great place, close to the sea, lots of attractions
Helen
Lovely clean, well landscaped camp.Pools were great. There were a number of play areas and plenty of spaces for children to play The sea was calm & warm. Ideal for adult swimming. It is a very pebbly beach with sudden drop when tide is in so may not be great for young children wanting to paddle unless tide is going out or for them to make sandcastles. The camp does have large sand pits for this and the pools are great for all ages. It is spread over a large area so courtesy bus helps cover distances if you don’t want to walk. The walk from main site to the outdoor pool is on a narrow road with no footpath in places and can be dangerously busy with cars squeezing past The toilets at lido pool although clean never smelt fresh but those inside complex were fine. We only had drinks at the quays and breakfast at the lido. The food was really good value and came quickly. We felt the prices were reasonable & staff were helpful. The other people’s meals looked good and portions were excellent. The supermarket was reasonably well stocked & prices ok compared to local supermarket. Would definitely go again.
