We had such a great weekend at this place! The location was perfect for what we needed and the house was comfy and welcoming. Our dogs really enjoyed the garden, especially the underfloor heating - it kept them cosy. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it, but honestly, everyone left happy and relaxed. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Lodge has all the modern conveniences you would ever need and was very clean inside which was much appreciated. Improvements necessary:- Toilet seats are worn out and the lids won't close, ensuite bed is worn out and needs replacing and the outside sofa was very dirty, covered in dog hairs and bird droppings, would be nice if it was cleaned. Please make the necessary improvements and we'll visit again. Thanks.

We spent a week here in July with our two tiny dachshunds and it was lovely. The village of Thaxted is charming and our dogs had a great time making friends with other pups around. The cottage itself is really nice - especially the hot tub, which was a real treat, especially during the hotest days of the year. We enjoyed watching the planes land since it’s near Stansted’s flight path, which added a bit of fun. The hosts were super friendly and made us feel really welcome. Would definitely stay again!

We had a lovely time staying here! Sharon and Robert really went out of their way to make us feel at home, which was much appreciated. The place was spotlessly clean, cosy and felt very safe for our dog Archie. The location couldn’t be better - plenty of walks nearby and charming villages like Thaxted to explore. Honestly, we left feeling refreshed and relaxed, so it was exactly what we needed!

This cottage really hit the spot for us! It’s tucked away enough for peace but still near shops and cafes. The hot tub was a highlight and the underfloor heating kept everything super cosy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome. Can’t wait to return for a longer stay!

Date of stay: 15th April 2025
We had such a lovely stay at this cosy place tucked away in a peaceful spot. The owners were super friendly and always ready to help if needed, but it still felt private enough to relax completely. The hot tub was a real treat after our cycle rides! A heads up, though - the cottage is right under Stansted’s flight path, so there’s quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn’t bother us much after a while, but it’s worth knowing if you’re sensitive to noise. Overall, a really nice break!

We had a fantastic stay! The house was super well kitted out and kept us cosy even on that rainy December day. The bath was perfect after a long walk and the shower was equally lovely. Being near a flight path didn’t bother us at all, honestly. Perfect spot for dogs scared of fireworks - total peace and quiet. Thanks so much for a great break!
Tom, Northamptonshire
Date of stay: 19th March 2025
We had a fantastic holiday! The lodge was spotlessly clean, modern and really comfortable. Only a couple of things: there’s no mirror outside the bathroom, so blow-drying hair was a bit tricky. Also, the bar menu was quite limited and the selection was poor. We tried the Sunday roast, which was excellent, but more meals like that would’ve been great. The bar staff seemed new, so they were a bit slow but really friendly and cheerful.

We loved the stunning views from the woodland cottage, it’s really peaceful. The facilities were good, though we missed having a full-length mirror in the three-bed. No coat hooks by the door, but everyone was super helpful. Debbie's massage at Clowance Spa was fantastic!

This place really hit the spot for us. Quiet, well-stocked and with a fantastic hot tub, it’s perfect if you want some downtime. The hosts are lovely too. Absolutely loved it, definitely coming back someday!

We stayed at this lovely little cottage and honestly, it had everything we could think of. No need to pack much, as the place is super well-equipped. The welcome pack was a nice touch-full of useful info and menus, which made things really easy. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was just perfect after long walks! Sharon and Rob were quick to reply to any questions, which we appreciated. Thanks for a really relaxing break-definitely recommend this gem!

We really enjoyed our stay! The place was lovely, perfect for a dog walking break. Plenty of fields nearby and pubs just a short stroll away. The dog didn’t want to leave, which says it all!

Fantastic and relaxing sty in such a peaceful setting.let down by 2 things: golf course shut, when it had been advertised when we booked and the lodge we were is a little frayed at the edges. They didn’t detract from our enjoyment but took away from the polish when compared to the rest of the venue.

Superb surroundings and settings. Exceptional lodge that was one of the cleanest I’ve stayed in. Staff on the resort were amazing. The restaurant was also top quality. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but, you get the quality you pay for.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. We stayed in the treehouse which was just amazing! Location was so central for days out. Would love to return and stay longer as there is so much to do and see! Highly recommend

We had a fabulous stay , our lodge was amazing very clean bright and airy - a great design. Our wonderful meal in the restaurant on site offered local produce superbly cooked , the very friendly & knowledgeable staff added to our delightful evening. My only minus was the spa pool was too cold but the Jacuzzi was great.

All staff are polite, helpful and friendly. Restaurant food was fantastic experience

The location was a great mix of being peaceful and calm but still close enough to popular tourist hot spots for visiting. We had a great stay but did struggle with signal so the texts we were receiving from reception didn’t come through until we’d left the estate. We loved the lodge and hot tub and we loved walking around the estate feeding the birds and seeing the lake. The pool was fab and the changing facilities were clean. We’d love to come back in future.

Woodland lodge- Group of 8 Pro: Beautiful grounds, well equipped lodge, friendly staff, good restaurant and sports activities. Con: 24hr reception not contactable out of hours.

We enjoyed our stay. We were comfortable and enjoyed the hot tub. The only criticism would be lack of a mirror (outside of the bathroom one) had to style hair without a mirror. But everything else was great! Can’t wait to come back again!
