This place is perfect for a peaceful getaway! The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a real treat after long walks nearby. Quiet location, lovely village, we had an absolutely fantastic time. Highly recommend!

The lodge was spotless and super comfy, really enjoyed our stay. Only downside was the description mentioning an ensuite shower in the master, but it was just a toilet and basin. Still, lovely place overall!

We really appreciated the spaciousness of the lounge and the kitchen/diner - it made everything so much easier. The shower was excellent and having washing up supplies plus extra bin bags was a nice touch. Two toilets definitely came in handy! On the downside, the main bedroom mattress wasn’t great; we could really feel the springs which was a bit of a letdown. Also, this was the only lodge without decking and the outdoor furniture was pretty sparse - just a tiny round table and two fold-up chairs, not really enough when we wanted to eat outside in the lovely weather. The pub’s extractor fan was quite noisy at night and being right next to the beer garden, you could hear the crowd outside, so bear that in mind.

We absolutely loved this cosy little cottage. It’s perfectly tucked away from the hustle but still near local shops and cafes. The hot tub was fantastic and the underfloor heating made everything super comfy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel right at home. Can’t wait to return!

Date of stay: 10th March 2025
We had a fantastic weekend here! The place really ticked all our boxes and we’re already planning to return. Our dogs adored the underfloor heating and the garden kept them busy for hours. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it-vet says she’s just happy! Overall, a lovely spot for both pups and humans. Definitely recommend!

We had a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob, Sharon and Bonnie really made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The building’s been beautifully restored, keeping its historic charm but feeling warm and inviting. The location in Essex is perfect for exploring Thaxted and nearby villages - so much history and charming architecture around every corner. Honestly, it’s the kind of place you want to return to for a peaceful break. Highly recommended!

We had such a lovely stay here! The owners are genuinely warm and thoughtful, making us feel really welcome. The cottage itself is adorable, with its charming half-timbered style and a really powerful shower that was much appreciated after a day out. The cosy kitchen and comfy bed made everything perfect. Parking right next to the cottage is a massive bonus. It’s spotlessly clean, well heated and perfect for peaceful walks in the fields to Thaxted. Would definitely come back!

We had a fantastic stay here! The house was super well equipped and kept us really cosy, even on the rainy December day. The bath was lovely and the shower was plenty big. The location might be near a flight path, but honestly, we didn’t notice a thing. Perfect spot for dogs who dislike fireworks, surrounded by peace and nature. Thanks a lot!

We booked a dog walking getaway and honestly, it was just what we needed. The place was lovely, with great pubs and eateries nearby. The best part? Miles of fields and off-road walks - the dog loved it! We didn’t want to leave either.

We absolutely loved our stay at this lovely spot. The setting is so peaceful and private, perfect for relaxing. The owners are genuinely friendly and make you feel welcome without being intrusive. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day of cycling-such a bonus! A heads up though, the cottage is right under Stansted’s flight path, so aircraft noise can be quite noticeable. It didn't bother us too much after a while, but if you're sensitive to noise, it’s worth considering. Overall, a really charming place to unwind!

Date of stay: 21st September 2024
The chalet was really cosy and well-kept. We appreciated how quickly they responded to our questions about the heating and Wi-Fi. It’d be nice if there was a welcome folder with local tips though. Still, we’d definitely stay again!
Andrew
Highly recommended ...This caravan site is for the people who wants a very relaxing holiday.
Peter

David
Lovely quiet site close to local amenities
Tina
Excellent place for a quiet get away. Perfect location for days out. Would definitely return
Rosemary
The static caravan was nice and clean, however, there were a lot of cobwebs outside on the veranda. The steps were covered in autumn leaves which must have been there for some time. The kitchen equipment was lacking. One pan did not have a lid. There were no wooden utensils suitable for the non stick frying pan. No tablespoons or whisk and a very blunt potato peeler. The website showed that bedding and towels were provided but there was only one hand towel. When I rang the given phone number for help I was told that they had sent an email, but there was no wi-fi on the site. The email was sent to our PC at home on the day that we arrived. She did arrange for a pack of 2 shower towels to be delivered. There was no towel for the hand basin in the toilet room, no bathmat and the black tea towel was brand new and very fluffy. I would have liked the provision of some cleaning materials. The site was in a nice quiet location and we had some meals at the Bay Horse Inn which was on site.
Karen
holiday was great lodge was comfortable and clean, this is not a gripe but a little lamp in each of the bedrooms and lounge would be great
Lisa
Perfect weekend away just right for what we needed
