We arrived to a spotless, pristine place, which was lovely. However, the photos and description on Hoseasons didn’t quite match up - there’s no en-suite shower, just a WC, which was a bit disappointing. The hottub was well kept and offered stunning views, though we did find the cutlery lacking and really wished for a bigger sofa. Despite these small things, we really enjoyed it and have already booked again!

We had a lovely stay! The lodge was really comfy and it’s great that pets are welcome. The woodland walk behind the site was perfect for a chilly morning stroll.

Honestly, we were quite disappointed. The bedroom blind kept slipping and fell multiple times, scratching the wall in the process. It’s frustrating dealing with a faulty product, especially when it keeps causing damage. Not what we expected at all.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay, but the place did lack some crockery which was a bit annoying. There were a few stains on the sofa, which wasn’t ideal. Also, we weren’t told anyone would be checking the hot tub daily - when the staff appeared suddenly on the decking, it was quite a surprise. A note in the info folder would’ve helped!

We had a pretty good stay overall, but a few small things did bug us a bit. The park itself is lovely, with some really stunning views. We stayed in the Otter Lodge at the Retreat, which was nicely decorated and we loved the log burner - made it feel cosy. The hot tub was drained for changeover when we arrived, so the water was only lukewarm that night, which we expected. But then, bizarrely, it was drained and refilled the next morning, making it unusable for the rest of the day and night since the water was freezing cold. That was a bit of a letdown, especially since we only had four nights and the best weather was on that day. Also, having just two towels for four days was tricky and no mop was provided, so the floors did get quite dirty. Still, it was a nice break, just some minor annoyances.

We stayed at the lodge recently and honestly, everything was top-notch. Despite being pet-friendly, it didn’t feel like it at all - super clean and the smell when we walked in was lovely. The bedding and towels were really good quality and the dressing gown was a nice touch for the hot tub. We’ll be back!

We had a lovely stay at this lodge, nestled in such a peaceful spot. The staff do a great job keeping everything in tip-top condition daily. We’re definitely planning to come back! Just a couple of small suggestions - a mop and bucket would help for the floors and more cutlery and plates would be handy since the sink’s a bit small for washing up. It would also be great if there was an on-site bar or restaurant to mingle with other residents. Overall, a really friendly place!

We booked Largo Law last minute for a quick four-night escape and honestly, it was fantastic! The place was super clean and felt really cosy, even with the chilly -4 outside. Both bedrooms were roomy and had dressing areas, which was a nice touch and the showers in both bathrooms were really powerful-perfect after a day out. The views over the Forth towards Edinburgh were stunning, especially when relaxing in the hot tub. It’s on a peaceful park with easy access to St Andrews and Fife, making sightseeing a breeze. The only tiny thing was the pillows could have been a bit fuller. We had a great time and definitely plan to return!

So, despite the mix-up with Hoeseasons insisting we were staying at "Bonny View" when we actually booked "Fourth View," the lodge itself was really lovely. It was spotless, with super comfy beds and walk-in wardrobes in both rooms, which was a nice touch. The room with two single beds was a decent size, plenty of space for us to relax. The bathroom (not the ensuite) was quite spacious too, though the shower didn’t drain as quickly as it should have - it tended to fill up and leak a bit into the bathroom. We managed to fix it easily by removing the top of the trap, so no big deal there. We did have a weird smell in the living area when the windows were shut, but once we reported it, someone came to check the pipes and it was sorted. So, good service there. One thing to note, though - Hoeseasons advertised WiFi, but there isn’t any, so make sure you have enough data if you need internet. Also, check-in was a bit confusing: they say after 5pm, but actually it’s after 4pm since reception closes at 5. Luckily, we arrived 10 mins early and got in smoothly. Check-out time is also later than advertised; it’s actually by 10am, not 9. The pub on-site was never open, which was a bit disappointing and the dryers cost £2.50 for 90 mins. The shop on site isn’t very well stocked and most leaflets in the laundry room are from years ago, so best to check prices beforeh and. All in all, a decent place, just a few small hiccups!

We had such a lovely weekend stay here! Everything was just right for us and we really enjoyed our time. The underfloor heating was a hit with our dogs - they loved the garden and had so much fun. Luna came home with a strained tail from all the wagging, but it just shows how much fun they had! We’ll definitely be coming back.
Oliver
The cottage was really charming and in a lovely spot, perfect for escaping the busy city. The hot tub was a real treat and the owners were so friendly but not intrusive. They've got the balance just right!

We had a fantastic stay at this cosy cottage! The place was really well looked after and had everything we needed. Loved the easy access to walking routes right outside the door, perfect for the dogs. The host was lovely, super quick to reply and made us feel very welcome. Meeting Penelope the pig was a highlight! Definitely coming back, great value for money.
James
We stayed at this lovely cottage nestled on a working farm and honestly, it’s so peaceful and private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely and welcoming. The place itself is really spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom, plus a super comfy bed that made sleeping a dream. The garden is perfect for dogs - secluded, dog-proof and with nice furniture to relax on. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted’s restaurants, like The Star and The Maypole, are worth a visit. We’d definitely recommend it!
Emma Parker
We had a lovely stay! Sharon and Robert really made us feel at home, which was so nice. The place was spotlessly clean, comfy and perfect for Archie with good security. The location was great, plenty of walks nearby and we loved exploring Thaxted and the surrounding villages - such pretty spots. We definitely left feeling refreshed and relaxed, so all in all, a really enjoyable break. Would happily return!
Emma
We stayed here for a week in July with our two mini daschund girls and they absolutely loved it! They made loads of new friends in the village of Thaxted, which was lovely to see. The cottage itself is really charming and the hot tub was such a treat-especially during those hot days, as the water was nicely cooled for a refreshing dip. The hosts were genuinely warm and welcoming; it was nice to see them taking their dogs out to the fields daily. Being near Stansted’s flight path was interesting, watching the planes land. Overall, we’d definitely recommend Hide, it’s a lovely spot!
Emily

We recently stayed at Goddards Mead for a week and honestly, it was lovely. The cottage had everything we needed and felt really cosy. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming. Despite being on a working farm, it was surprisingly peaceful and quiet. Definitely recommend!
