Visitor Reviews of Lode Hall Lodges

Oliver
Date of stay: 29th March 2025
We had an absolutely lovely stay! The owners are genuinely warm and thoughtful, making us feel right at home. The cottage is charming, with its traditional half-timbered style and the shower is surprisingly powerful-much appreciated after a day of exploring. The bed was super comfy and the cosy kitchen and living space made it feel like a proper retreat. Plus, parking right next door was a real bonus. Perfect spot for walks to Thaxted and easy trips around the area. We’d definitely return!

We had such a relaxing stay at Willow Lodge. The peace and quiet were just what we needed and the RAF jets flying by gave it a bit of character! Lee was really helpful sorting out the hot tub quickly, which we appreciated. The place is perfect for two, spacious and comfy, though the sofa could use a bit of a refresh. Downham Market is lovely and worth a visit, especially the cheese shop. We’d definitely return!

We had such a lovely stay! The peaceful setting really made a difference and the lodge was fantastic, especially with the hot tub - perfect after a day out. The free hamper was a lovely touch. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and there’s plenty to explore nearby, like Downham Market, March and Ely. Cooper the dog adored it too!

We stayed at this lovely cottage and really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The hot tub was definitely a highlight, though you should expect some night-time plane noise from Stansted.

We had a really enjoyable stay at the Chamomile 1 lodge. The place is modern, cosy and had everything we needed for two couples and our dogs. We especially loved the little touches, like the complimentary basket full of bacon, eggs and sausages - such a nice surprise! If we had to suggest anything, a BBQ spot, a mop, more loo roll, some kitchen roll and plastic glasses for the hot tub would make it perfect. Overall, a lovely experience and we’d definitely come back!

We loved staying at this cosy cottage! It's perfectly tucked away for peace but still near shops and local spots. The hot tub and underfloor heating made it extra special. Rob & Sharon are lovely hosts and Bonnie’s a sweetheart. Can’t wait to return for longer soon!

We had a really lovely stay at this place. The location is so peaceful and private, perfect if you're after some proper quiet time. The site itself is quite small, only about six lodges, which made it feel cosy and exclusive. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a thoughtful welcome pack - a nice little touch that made us feel special. Our labrador was well looked after too, with a dog bed, towel, water bowl, poo bags and treats provided, which was great. The lodge was spotlessly clean, comfy and nicely decorated, with good WiFi for catching up. The patio was enclosed by a picket fence, so our dog could relax outside safely. The owners and staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, making everything easy. We’d definitely come back for some much-needed R&R, it’s a proper retreat!

We recently stayed at Goddard's Mead and it was lovely. Rob and Sharon really put a lot of effort into restoring the historic building and their warm welcome made us feel right at home-Bonnie was a bonus too! The place has everything you need for a chill, comfy stay. The location’s perfect for exploring Essex, especially Thaxted and surrounding villages-definitely worth taking a wander to soak up the local history and charm. We'll be back!

We recently stayed at this lovely spot and really enjoyed the peaceful vibe. It’s such a calm place to unwind and the grounds are truly stunning. We didn’t see any staff around because of Covid rules, but we got a message on the day with all the info we needed, which was handy. The lodge itself was spacious and good value, though we wish we’d known to pack some things like toilet roll, dishwashing tablets and scissors - a bit of a let-down. There’s not much to do on-site, so most activities are a drive away, but overall, it’s a great place to relax with family or your partner.
