The beautiful scenery of the Lake District surrounds this peaceful holiday park, well situated for visiting both Penrith and Keswick. There's a wealth of facilities, including an indoor heated pool, gym, spa, sauna and steam room, as well as a holistic therapy centre where you can enjoy a range of treatments and massages.

The children will love the 18 hole crazy golf course, the adventure playground and giant draughts and chess. Adults will enjoy the bar and restaurant as well as the pool and games room - and everyone will love the family entertainment on offer in the evenings.

We like all the accommodation here, but particularly the Keswick, a two storey modern and comfortable country cottage that sleeps six people. It has a master double bedroom with ensuite shower and doors out to a patio - plus one twin room and one with bunk beds.

The Priest Hole in Ambleside serves delicious, freshly prepared Mediterranean and English food in a beautifully restored 16th century building. The watersports at Windermere include water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing and canoeing.

We have stayed here 3 times now and it is always a good experience. The onsite restaurant is very good as is the swimming pool and spa area. The location is very convenient for visiting the northern lakes area. The fell views from our accommmodation are beautiful.

Booked over the Christmas period. The contractors whole place was very un-festive. Bar closed at 6pm Christmas eve and wasn't open on Christmas day unless you were having a pre booked meal. The attempt at Christmas lights outside was fire to say the least. Wasn't expecting illuminations but poor. No atmosphere. Bar staff weren't the happiest. Left early. Never again. Used to love this place

Would have liked a firmer pillow, they were both too soft so didn't get a great night sleep. Loved the balcony even though it was a little cold, be great in the summer.

Nice place to stay have been before. Lovely quiet location. Rooms although self catering and if in main block are not serviced so ensure you equipped for what you need. We were not able to buy on site and no local shops near as in rural spot. Unable to use balcony as dirty and full of moss ?

Cosy, comfortable and quirky upside down cottage with lots of room, towels robes and slippers, toiletries and complimentary dishwasher tablets and cleaning products. Loved it! Very comfy beds too also a bonus and two bathrooms.

Date of stay: 15th January 2023
The cottage was nice, just not very clean. Mouldy shower head, food under the sofas my 1 year old found, cupboards dont shut properly because the fridge is the wrong size. All the cups were dirty when we arrived so we cleaned these ourselves. Hot tub lids are extremely heavy and no assisters fitted to the hot tubs to help put them back on when you get out. The restaurant was closed when we visited which wasnt advertised when I booked. We got notice of this a few days before the holiday which was too short notice.

Will definitely return. Everyone seem to respect each others privacy etc. No loud music or loutish groups. The village is immaculate and the friendly ducks were loved by the children.

There were a lot of flies in the cottage. Fly spray was provided but it did get annoying.

It's the first time for us there and we will be back very enjoyable Staff were fabulous thank you ?
Gary
Excellent setup and location in need of balconies painting and restaurant closed 2 days, which we understand due to short taff in the kitchen but the bar could of been open. All in we have stayed 10 times and will make it 11 then 12+
Liane
We stayed in Caldew 1, myself, my husband and two children aged 7 and 11. The contact free check in worked very well. I arranged an online shop for an hour after we arrived at reception. This was great but next time would meet the van in the guest car park as there is more space. The lodge was well equipped and very clean. The children used the swimming pool twice a day which was fantastic. Our hot tub was serviced every day and we had lots of fun using that. Places I would recommend a visit to with children are - Lowther Castle (huge adventure play area), Aira Force (the kids played in the stream for hours), and Brougham Castle. We packed lunches everyday which saved money. A big thank you to the reception staff at Whitbarrow Village who worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. My daughter particularly enjoyed feeding the ducks with the food you gave her
Nikola
Staff were very kind and attentive. The entire place is spotless
Joanne
We had a fantastic few nights Surroundings are stunning as is the accommodation and facilities. Very calming place and lots for the kids. We really enjoyed the pool which was spotlessly clean. The staff were lovely and so helpful at the main reception. Food in the restaurant was delicious. We would return tomorrow ?
