The beautiful scenery of the Lake District surrounds this peaceful holiday park, well situated for visiting both Penrith and Keswick. There's a wealth of facilities, including an indoor heated pool, gym, spa, sauna and steam room, as well as a holistic therapy centre where you can enjoy a range of treatments and massages.

The children will love the 18 hole crazy golf course, the adventure playground and giant draughts and chess. Adults will enjoy the bar and restaurant as well as the pool and games room - and everyone will love the family entertainment on offer in the evenings.

We like all the accommodation here, but particularly the Keswick, a two storey modern and comfortable country cottage that sleeps six people. It has a master double bedroom with ensuite shower and doors out to a patio - plus one twin room and one with bunk beds.

The Priest Hole in Ambleside serves delicious, freshly prepared Mediterranean and English food in a beautifully restored 16th century building. The watersports at Windermere include water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing and canoeing.

Date of stay: 13th August 2018
Newly refurbished property was great and offered most mod cons. Free Wi-Fi facilities for a modern family are a must and the lack of this needs to be addressed for guests especially at the cost charged for the week.

Date of stay: 25th June 2018
The cottage was perfect. The only problem was the heat and surrounding trees attracted flies, and we had dozens of them in the accommodation when we arrived. Reception staff were very helpful and had a cupboard full of fly spray.
Lorraine, Bo'ness

Modern and spotlessly clean villa with everything we could need. Hot tub and children's den were added bonus. Wifi sporadic and only thing we would mention as negative.

Wish the service team could start a little later- being woken up by banging and greeted by the window cleaner whilst using the toilet at 9am on holiday seemed odd.

Date of stay: 2nd September 2016
Loved the upside down house! Bedrooms downstairs , kitchen upstairs! Spacious and clean
Julia, Gatehsead
Date of stay: 6th August 2016
Nice house but heating controls not working properly and dishwasher took for ever. Oven was not good either.
Very comfortable upside down house although it is a small double bed in the master bedroom.

Very clean, all linen provided.

Double bed small not comfortable.

Bunk bed room very small just about got beds in and a small drawer unit.

Very hot upstairs (without heating on) and very cold downstairs - no way to control it.

Oven poor and inefficient. Dishwasher very slow (3 hours for 1 cycle even the eco setting.)

Living room furniture very comfortable and carpets very good.

I would nto think the ful price was good value at all but half price was good.
Sarah, Durham
Date of stay: 1st August 2016
Very spacious and immaculately clean. We cooked every day and the kitchen had everything.
Louise, Bridlngton
Date of stay: 1st August 2016
there was litter under the bed as this was moved to accomadate a pram. The hot water in the cottage was very unreliabe with us needing to get this in the kitchen by setting of the bath tap on all occasions. the bathroom sink hot water was also hit and miss as to whether you got it without running the bath tap first to pull it through.
Overall though we did enjoy the stay and the layout of the cottage and being on the ground floor as requested was great.,
Andrea, Hampton
Date of stay: 1st August 2016
Kirkstone was very spacious and well equipped. Enjoyed having a balcony overlooking hills. Plenty of towels and bed linen. Carpets definitely need renewing as stained and worn in places but overall felt very clean- bathrooms like a hotel, even provided extra toilet rolls.

A nice club house and a nice complex. The only down side was the swimming pool ,it open at 7 am but as there is no life guard at all you could not enter the pool. I waited half an hour before I could go into the pool waiting for a holiday member to arrive.

Great accomodation. Easily enough room for our family of 6-3 adults and three teens. We loved the layout of lounge and kitchen diner. Bunk room was small but perfectly adequate for a short stay. A lovely, quiet and peaceful location. With good weather to top it all off, we couldn't have wanted anything more.

We spent four nights at Whitbarrow with our three children (4, 7 and 9) and we didn’t want to come home! We stayed in a 3 bedroom property (Troutbeck) that was furnished to a very high standard, with a well equipped kitchen, plenty of room for the 5 of us; complete with kids den and hot tub. It was clean and well maintained on arrived. The site is very pleasant and nice to walk around. The indoor pool is unfortunately too small to cope with peak demand, but when it is full you simply put your name on a list. We managed to swim every day and when we did have to wait for a slot it was no longer than 5 or 10 minutes. The pool itself was a good temperature and kids are free to have lots of fun - i.e. no lane swimmers (other than before 8am and after 8pm when it’s adults only). Unfortunately the small kids pool was out of order for our entire stay. The pub/restaurant enjoys a nice setting with views over the fells and the food is good. The kids play room has a table tennis table, but the PlayStation was out of order and the kids (brio type) train table was a bit tatty - the play room could do with some investment. I have to say that the staff were always really friendly and helpful, helping to make the overall atmosphere very pleasant and relaxing. The location of Whitbarrow is excellent - 15 mins from Keswick, 15-20 mins to the M6 and roughly the same to Ullswater, so a great position to visit some great parts of the northern Lakes. Overall we loved our stay at Whitbarrow (our second time of visiting) and will certainly be going back again.
Gillian
Lovely few days spent at Whitbarrow.Facilities really excellent. Cottage perfect with everything you could possibly need.Bar and restaurant perfect for a quiet drink or tasty snack or meal.Everywhere spotless and lovely friendly staff.Whitbarrow ideally situated for visiting the beautiful surrounding countryside.Cant wait to visit again.Although there was snow on the ground we still used the hot tub each day.
Lee
Excellent facilities with clean accommodation.
Sam
Had a really nice time! Would prefer the hot tub area to be little more private as you was looking up to the apartments, but other than that amazing weekend!
Christine
We loved the newly refurbished Troutbeck cottage with hot tub; some issues with the boiler but these were dealt with very promptly
Lorraine
Great family break. Fantastic base for exploring the Lake District.
Olivia
Very nice! A few things broken or missing in house and hot tub took a very long time to warm up but overall enjoyed our time there.
Phillip
Great holiday and fantastic value for money. Would definitely book again.
Ellie
A wonderful relaxing holiday. The accommodation (and hot tub) was very clean, well presented, and fully equipped. The pool facilities likewise were spotless and we were impressed with the bar, restaurant and games room. It was great that the kids could run around without the fear of cars. We had a great time.
Amanda
We had an amazing 5 days at Whitbarrow Village over October half term. The cottage (Caldew) was fabulous, the facilities just right and the bar and restaurant just perfect. All in all a relaxing holiday xcx

Fun Days Out near Whitbarrow

about 7 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
about 12 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
about 13 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
about 17 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
about 32 Miles
Here at the Wildlife Oasis you can really get up close to the animals and experience a mix of exotic wildlife and hand son displays.  See butterflies, birds and even bats flying around.  You don't have to plan your visit according to weather either with the tropical hall and butterfly house undercover.  Sunny days are ideal for some of the inhabitants however with the monkeys and Lemurs loving to sunbathe.  The mission of Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis is to engender and foster an interest and appreciation of the natural world which, in our belief underpins wildlife conservation; and, where possible to contribute and encourage contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places.  You know that you are helping with this mission if you choose to visit.
about 32 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

about 38 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
about 39 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
about 39 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
