The caravan was a perfect base close to family. The new caravans are immaculate and cosy. However, a lot of the facilities are not open during the winter months and it is difficult to find what is open as no signs on doors and no opening times in the welcome pack. We sussed out by the end of our stay the bar is open although possibly some nights only until 5pm? The coffee shop is open 10 to 4pm. The restaurant is not open over the winter the fish and chip shop is not open over the winter. Reception closes at 3pm in the winter but check in is at 4pm. Call reception to see if you can get an earlier check in due to this. There are no rubbish bins near the caravans you have to take all rubbish to the castle not ideal. There are dog bins on the main roads spread so far apart which were emptied during our stay. The staff we came across were friendly but not many about at winter. Weather was awful but that's not witton castles fault!

Gatehouse View i feel from looking over the site is the best position for views and quietness, a little far from castle to walk for us, but we are elderly and there is plenty of parking at the castle itself. You really cannot fault any thing about this part of the site it is excellent.
