We really enjoyed our stay at the retreat cabin. It’s absolutely beautiful! The only thing we’d suggest is adding a softer light inside the main room. Leaving the curtains open was lovely, as we could soak in the peaceful surroundings. Lovely place!

Honestly, the location was a bit of a pain - it’s tucked away down this narrow lane with barely any passing spots and it’s not lit well at all, so driving there at night felt a bit nerve-wracking. When we arrived, the lodge was freezing; the heating was dead and took over two hours to get sorted out by the owner, which left us shivering trying to stay warm. The hot tub wasn’t very hot either and we were told it was set to maximum, but it still felt quite lukewarm. The bath water was only just warm, not hot enough to relax in properly. The place itself is pretty dated and really needs a refurb - the plastic on the kitchen cupboards was peeling, leaving sharp edges that aren’t ideal. The floorboards and doors creaked loudly, which was quite disruptive, especially at night. Outside lighting was pretty dim too, with just one faint light near the hot tub, making it tricky to see anything when dark. On the bright side, the bedding and towels were clean and comfy, which was a plus. Overall, it’s got potential but definitely needs some work to make it more comfy and convenient.

Really enjoyed our stay here! The private spot was perfect for relaxing and the hot tub was kept in great condition. Ideal for a chill weekend away.

We recently stayed at the Amour 1 Lodge and honestly, it had its ups and downs. Inside, it was quite nice - the kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans and utensils, which made cooking easy. The living area was comfy enough for relaxing after a day out. The bathroom in the bedroom was a bit tight, though, with nowhere to put your toothbrush or toiletries, which was a bit annoying. The hot tub was okay; it was at the right temperature when we arrived, but most of the jets didn’t work, so it felt more like a warm bath outside. We only used it twice in the week. The bed was a real letdown - it was an old, rickety wooden frame with a super soft mattress that sank in the middle. It creaked constantly, so we kept waking each other up turning over or getting up. On the plus side, the place was generally clean, though there were quite a few cobwebs hanging from the beams and light fittings over the bed. We did have a day without heating or hot water due to a storm, but the staff responded quickly and even brought electric radiators, which was a nice touch. All in all, not bad, but could definitely be better!

We had a really lovely short break and definitely plan to come back - there’s still so much more to explore around here. We love it!

The decor was quite lovely and the sofa super comfy, which we loved. The TV in the bedroom was a bit frustrating though-only worked with radio, no controller! Still, clean and cozy overall.

We booked this for our honeymoon since travelling abroad with three kids was a nightmare. Honestly, we thought it was just second best-turns out, it was absolutely fantastic! Loved every minute.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge! The outdoor space was lovely and the copper bath was a real treat. It stayed hot enough, though it didn’t last as long as we’d hoped. Still, very comfy place overall.

We stayed at Coombes View Lodge and honestly, it felt a bit past its prime. The furniture was worn and the heating needed staff to turn it on, then restart later-kind of a pain. The hot tub was okay but showing its age, with lights not working. The gate remote was broken and no spare was available, which was annoying. On the bright side, the staff were really helpful and quick to respond. Still, the lodge definitely needs a proper upgrade.

Honestly, our stay at The Lodge was just what we needed. We stayed in Coombes View 1 and from the moment we arrived, it felt special. The location is stunning, nestled in lovely countryside with views that just take your breath away. Each lodge feels private, so you get that real sense of peace and quiet - perfect for unwinding. Inside, it was beautifully decorated, super clean and had everything we could possibly need. The hot tub was a real treat, always ready after a quick check in the mornings. We had some adorable visitors too - three alpacas came to say hello at the fence, which was such a lovely surprise. We even got to watch Mark herd some sheep that had escaped and paid us a visit! On our last day, we spotted a deer from the kitchen window - a perfect end to our trip. Honestly, this place is a good place, great for switching off and relaxing away from the hustle. We’ll definitely be back!

We absolutely loved our time at the cottage in the Peak District! The scenery was breathtaking and the place itself was really charming with lovely decor and comfy furniture. The hot tub was a real highlight after long walks. The kitchen had everything we needed and the dressing room was such a bonus. Oh and the master bed was super comfy! Thanks for a fantastic stay, we’ll be back for sure!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The cottage was super spacious, clean and comfy. The views are stunning, though the access road is a bit tricky so driving carefully is a must. The kitchen had everything we needed, but it’d be handy to have some instructions for the cooker. The hot tub’s position is a bit odd-covering the view when off, which is a shame.

Date of stay: 23rd June 2024
We really enjoyed the cottage’s comfort, especially the shower and bath - they were fantastic! The cooker and appliances made cooking easy, which was a bonus. However, the cleanliness could’ve been better, with cobwebs and insects around. The hot tub wasn’t spotless and we only saw someone maintaining it once. The dressing room felt a bit pointless, honestly. Still, a decent stay overall!

We had a lovely stay at Coombes View Lodge! The place was fantastic overall, though we did miss a little welcome pack with tea, coffee and milk - something we're used to in other lodges. Still, highly recommend it!

We found the cottage to be really roomy and super comfy, set in such a peaceful spot that’s well looked after. It’s just a short drive to lovely walks, National Trust places and Manchester too. The place was spotless, the bed was a dream and we loved the views from the bedroom and patio. Listening to the birds and owls at night was a real highlight - we’d definitely return!

We really enjoyed our stay! The hot tub was definitely the highlight-exactly why we pick lodges, for that little bit of luxury. The location was perfect and always accessible. Inside, the lodge was clean but a bit dated, which wasn’t obvious from the photos. Still, very functional and comfortable.

Date of stay: 28th April 2024
We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage. The bed was super comfy, especially the king size, which was a real treat. The views outside were absolutely stunning, perfect for unwinding. Everything we needed was there, which was great. The only minor hiccup was the smart TV - it only played BBC iPlayer, so it could do with an update. One evening, while relaxing in the hot tub around 7pm, the owner asked us to turn the music down, but we knew the rule about no noise after 10pm anyway. All in all, a lovely break!

We really enjoyed our stay at this charming barn conversion. The peaceful location is perfect, even if the access road isn’t the smoothest. The bed was super comfy and the bathrooms were modern, especially the one with the spa bath! The hot tub was a highlight once it warmed up. Definitely coming back!

The place was spotless and perfect for a calm, restful holiday. I wish the hot tub had jets that could be used together, but I’d still come back!

The lodge was really cosy and spacious, which we loved. Parking was simple and stress-free. The layout means you’re not crowded or overlooked. Having two bathrooms was a real bonus, even if we didn't use the hot tub. Nice place!

We had such a lovely break at The Retreat in the Peak District. The lodge was immaculate when we arrived and the facilities really impressed us, especially the outdoor spa bath - it was just what we needed! It’s a great escape from the hustle and bustle. We’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat.

We had a lovely stay at Old Barn Cottage for four nights. The place was just what we needed - super spacious and well-equipped. The views and peaceful surroundings really added to the experience. The sofa’s been upgraded to a big, comfy corner one, which was perfect after a day out. It’s a short stroll into Charlesworth village with a cosy pub and a couple of shops, then not far to Glossop for more options. The Peak District is also nearby for some great walks. We’d definitely return!

We stayed at one of their cabins recently and honestly, the photos on the website can be a bit misleading. There’s quite a variety of cabins and it’s not always clear which one you’re booking. My mum surprised me with it for my birthday, expecting a more modern interior and a log burner - unfortunately, ours didn’t have either. Still, the cabin was spotless and had everything we needed, so we weren’t disappointed overall. When I showed my mum around, she was a bit let down because it wasn’t quite what she imagined, but I think that’s down to the photos. Despite that, we’d definitely recommend it for a cosy stay. It’s a lovely place, just a bit of a heads-up about the different types of cabins!
Greg
Excellent stay, just a few minor things that could elevate it. Mirror in single bed bedroom, dishwasher wasn’t working after being told it was fixed, a few wasps flying around. Otherwise the stay was brilliant and we really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you ?
Frances
A very nice and clean lodge that was good value for money. Hot tub was also clean and well kept. The only slight issue was no access to WiFi (couldn't find or connect) but was a minor flaw when everything else was really good. Would return happily.
Christopher
Been here several times before so that should say something of my opinion of site , ( first time in old barn though ). Ideal spot to get away from it all for a few days , but plenty on door step if required ( Buxton , Manchester).
Michelle
All round excellent, my only complaint is that there was no where to sit to dry your hair and make up as there’s no dressing tables or mirrors, apart from that excellent.
Debbie
Beautiful lodge with fantastic amenities located in an idyllic spot, would definitely book again, in fact I have booked for next year already.
Claire
This place MADE our trip. Recommend it to anyone.
Martin
We had a very good time staff we've helpful and areas was nice.

Maryam
A lovely location, staff were very helpful and overall great visit
Paul
Just a bit annoyed that when booking I was told a 10.00 am checkout, only on arrival to be told it was now a 9.00 am checkout. Rushed morning!
