Oystermouth Castle is a Norman stone castle in the village of Mumbles, overlooking Swansea Bay on the east side of the Gower Peninsula. It dates back to the 12th century, and the de Braose family rebuilt it in stone as a comfortable residence, with a high curtain wall, a chapel and three-storey living quarters with fireplaces.

It worked as a colliery from 1880 to 1980 and opened to the public in 1983. The star attraction is the Underground Tour, which takes you 300 feet down with a real miner to see what life was like for the men who worked the coal face.

???? Idyllic Stay at Heronstone Lodges Lodge 5 'Kestrel' We recently spent 5 days and 4 nights at Heronstone Lodges in Ystradgynlais, nestled in the picturesque hills and valleys of South Wales. From the moment we arrived, everything was a breezestraightforward instructions made accessing the park and our lodge hassle-free.Lodge Kestrel itself was a cozy haven with an open-plan layout featuring a plush couch, a dining table for two, a comfortable double bed, and a changing area complete with a wardrobe and vanity unit. The kitchen was snug yet well-stocked with everything we needed, and the bathroom boasted a spacious walk-in shower.Stepping outside, we were met with a private decking area perfect for relaxing in the hot tub under the stars. A few steps down led to a secluded garden with a BBQ setup, ideal for quiet evenings in nature. Every inch of the lodge was impeccably clean, inside and out, and the settingright on the edge of Diamond Parkoffered unforgettable views.The surrounding village of Ystradgynlais added charm to the experience, and the location was ideal for exploring South Wales. With Swansea just a 30-minute drive away and access to stunning hikes, waterfalls, and scenic walks, Heronstone Lodges is a hidden gem wed wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking tranquillity and adventure in equal measure.
The lodge was clean and well equipped for a small family self catering get away. The kitchen was equipped with all the necessary utensils and the kitchen knives were sharp! Which made a nice change for a holiday lodge. The hot tub worked as expected and felt very private. I will recommend.

The place was pretty good overall, but the cleaning process at the end was a bit of a hassle. Having to strip beds and tidy up before 9am was a bit much, honestly. Still, we enjoyed our stay!

Our weekend stay was just perfect! The place really hit all the right notes for us and were already planning to visit again. The garden was great for the dogs and they couldnt get enough of the underfloor heating - Luna even strained her tail from all the wagging! Happy pups, happy humans and a lovely break all round.

We had a really lovely stay at this cosy little place. The location is quite private and peaceful, with stunning views around. The owners were super friendly and always available if we needed anything, but they kept a respectful distance to preserve the privacy. The hot tub was a real highlight, especially after a long day of cycling. One thing to note is that the cottage sits directly under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of noise from the planes. It didnt bother us much after a while, but its worth mentioning if youre sensitive to noise. Overall, wed definitely go back!
Honestly, we loved it here! The lodge was super comfy, really clean and the private garden was perfect for the dogs. The hot tub was spotless and the setting in the woods was just gorgeous and super peaceful. The staff, especially Maria, were so friendly and helpful - she made us feel right at home. The lodge was really spacious and the hot tub was fantastic-spotless and relaxing! There were a few cobwebs here and there when you looked closer, so some extra TLC wouldnt hurt. Overall, its a lovely place to stay and wed happily return. Highly recommend!

Stayed for a few days with the wife, whilst exploring the area on a motorbike. Stunning area around the Brecon Beacons. Staff were excepionally helpful and friendly. Their local knowlegde was helpful.
The lodge its self was a good size for 2 and the hot tub, was hot and checked twice a day. The decor and funiture is a bit dated and could do with updating, apart from that, a thouroughly great location and the staff made all the difference. Would recommend to anyone.

Lovely relaxing stay. We had lovely weather, so managed to make use of the BBQ and the hot tub was great too. The lodge itself was spacious and had everything you could need and was very private from the neighbouring lodges.

We have visited a number of Hoseasons locations in the past and this latest break came well up to expectations. The hot tub was a new and pleasant experience. The staff were very helpful with local knowledge and overall service. The lodge was warm, comfortable and well equipped and the general information and instruction pack was clear and simple.

Excellent accomodation an location . We had our cycles with us and found some excellent traffic free routes right from the lodge . The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the site manager was very informative with her local knowledge and advised us of some excellent walking and cycling routes .
Great location, easy access to many wonderful waterfalls and local produce. Everything is close by too. Very private setting, hot tub feature is a must, fantastic hot shower - every day, never failed me!, can do with so more mod cons, update of comfy beds etc - however lovely place and has a Great local pub down the road too with homemade food. The Heronstone site has excellent staff, very friendly and they always answered my queries. Definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon ?.
