Lovely spacious lodge. Comfy beds. Everything you need for a great self catering break - like a home away from home! Views from the lodge were stunning and it is in such a tranquil spot. I love the gate at the entrance, I felt super safe as a woman travelling with 2 kids!

It's a simple lodge with little to no decor but does the job. You are asked to strip the beds on departure which I've never been asked to do before.

The cottage was just what we needed-super cosy and nicely tucked away, yet close enough to town for convenience. The hot tub was a real treat after long days and the underfloor heating kept everything warm and comfy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel really welcome. Can’t wait to return!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead and really appreciated how much effort Rob and Sharon put into restoring this historic place. Their warm welcome made us feel right at home, along with adorable Bonnie. The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you enjoy wandering through charming villages like Thaxted with their interesting history and lovely architecture. It’s a peaceful spot, ideal for a relaxing break. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting a cosy and scenic getaway!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and honestly, Rob and Sharon made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, along with Bonnie’s lovely company. The building’s history is beautifully preserved and you can tell they’ve put a lot of care into converting it. It’s in a cracking spot in Essex, perfect for wandering around Thaxted and nearby villages-definitely worth exploring their rich history. Would happily recommend it!

This place is charming and perfect for a peaceful getaway. Just a heads up, the planes at night can be a bit noisy, but the hot tub makes up for it!
