Visitor Reviews of Ty Mawr

Date of stay: 22nd September 2024
Honestly, for the price, the sofas and chairs should be cleaned more regularly. They were pretty filthy when we visited, which was disappointing.

The WiFi here is pretty patchy, especially around the park. Also, the communal pool toilets are often neglected and need better upkeep.

The beds were honestly the most comfy we've had in a caravan, super cosy! The place was spotless too. We had a small issue with one shower, but shoutout to reception - they sorted it within ten minutes. Really impressed!

The layout's a bit odd, but it’s functional and the en suite was really useful. Overall, decent stay.

Overall, we had a decent stay. The caravan was spacious and comfortable, which we really appreciated. The fridge and cooker worked perfectly, but the fire didn’t seem to heat the room properly and a few lights were flickering or out. Still, we enjoyed it!

The caravan was lovely, but the bedding could use an upgrade. The double bed duvet just doesn't fit well.

We booked what we thought was a nice, quality caravan but arrived to find a much simpler model. The first reception staff weren’t very helpful, but luckily the second was much better and offered to show us a different caravan. It turned out to be just what we wanted and very similar to what we originally booked. The rest of our stay was really lovely. The facilities are mainly geared towards families, so it might get quite lively and noisy during school holidays. The swimming pool was spotless and a real highlight!

Just to clear things up, St Asaph is actually the type of caravan we booked, not the place we stayed. We spent our holiday in Towyn, which is a nice enough village. The caravan itself was pretty disappointing - definitely not like the photos online. It was a bit of a letdown because some of the facilities didn't match up and from reading other reviews, it seems this is a common issue with this kind of caravan at Ty Mawr Park. The site itself is massive and quite busy, especially with kids who probably should’ve still been at school since we went at the end of September. We did grab breakfast at the site restaurant a couple of times, which was alright - just the usual eggs, bacon, hash browns, beans and a sausage on their meal deal for £11.99 for two. But honestly, most of the food was pretty pricey and the drinks weren’t cheap either - a pint was about £5 on average. Location-wise, it’s pretty good for exploring along the northern coast, thanks to easy access to the A55 from Chester to Caernarfon. The area itself was quite rundown, though - not much open late in the season and all the seaside souvenirs are way overpriced. Rhyl is currently being upgraded on the promenade until 2025, which should help breathe some life back into it once it’s finished. Most visitors seem to be from Liverpool and Manchester, so it’s not very Welsh in vibe. On the plus side, there are some lovely castles nearby that are worth a visit and Llandudno is a charming Victorian town with a nice pier. We’d definitely come back, probably stay somewhere along Towyn Road - there are loads of caravan parks there and it’s just easier to get around from that area.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ty Mawr. The location is just lovely and the facilities are top-notch. The cleanliness of the whole site was impressive; it felt really well maintained. The boathouse is such a nice spot to grab a bite, especially when you want to relax by the water. The caravan was comfortable enough for my partner, our young kid and me, but I do think the photos on the website are a bit misleading. They made the caravan look bigger and more spacious than it actually was. For six people, it’s definitely a squeeze, especially with a baby, as we had to squeeze in our travel cot in the bedroom, which wasn’t ideal - we also had to block the wardrobe space. It’s a shame, really, because the caravan itself was lovely, but it’d be good if they clarified that the actual accommodation might differ from the pictures. Overall, a really nice break - we’d come back, but just with a clearer head about what to expect!

We really enjoyed our stay! Plenty of activities, reasonable prices and the caravan was lovely. Would love a decking area with a table and chairs though.

We had a really good experience. When our daughter was unwell and vomited in the double bed, the reception staff were so friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was quick to respond, removing the bedding and returning with a cleaner. We’d definitely stay again!

Date of stay: 30th April 2023
Overall, the place was clean, but we did notice some leftover food in cupboards and wrappers from cakes. The seating area had rubbish around and a quick vacuum or Ewbank would really help. Also, a toilet brush would be handy.

The caravan was spotless and well kitted out, which was great. The only thing that could be improved is the single beds-they're a bit cramped. Overall, we had a really comfy stay and enjoyed it!

Caravan was clean and comfortable. Only down side is we tried to use the pool and we’re turned away as it was full 15 mins after opening
Mary
Brilliant area. Lovely surroundings.
Christine
Brilliant long weekend for my 60th caravan was amazing.
Kelly
Had a great time at Ty Mawr caravan park, kids enjoyed themselves too. Would definitely go again. Only thing I’d have to moan about was the pull out bed in the lounge area was broken
Alison
When arriving at ty mawr, the check in was quick and simple, the caravan was immaculately clean and was very spacious, the caravan had a fridge freezer, ironing board and iron also a clothes maiden, the shower was brilliant, the master bedroom was very spacious with its own little ensuite and double wardrobes, the other room was comfortable, the outside of the caravan was also clean with gardeners doing the grass, the park area was fantastic for the kids, there's plenty to do, the laundrette washing machines did a huge wash in one go. The food at the restaurant was next level, the night life was next level, always kept us entertained well done to each and every member of staff there I can't wait to book my next holiday
