The lodge has so much potential, just needs a refresh and comfier beds, but we loved it!

Honestly, we had such a great time at the lodge! The private hot tub with fairy lights and starry views was just incredible, especially after long walks. Indoors, the spa bath felt like pure luxury - really appreciated that touch. The living space was super comfy and the four-poster bed in the bedroom was just lovely. We did get invited to try the pool, gym and squash courts, but we were too busy exploring the beautiful surroundings and relaxing in the hot tub. Thanks for a wonderful break!

We had a really nice stay here. The area is so peaceful and perfect for walks right from the door. It’s quite remote, so don’t expect local shops nearby. The lodge was spotless and had everything we needed. Great for unwinding!

We recently stayed at Redwood Lodge and honestly, it was just what we needed-a peaceful, cosy spot tucked away in a lovely setting. The lodge itself is charming and feels like a hidden treasure. Simon and Jeanette were so helpful with directions and making sure everything was just right. Big thanks to them! We’re definitely telling friends about it and can’t wait to come back someday. Cheers, Emma and Mark from Runcorn!

The lodge was a bit older, but everything functioned smoothly - hot water, TV, DVD and solid Wi-Fi. Kitchen had all we needed, except no freezer, so we ate our provisions quickly. Lovely view of Chirk Castle too!

Honestly, we were pretty disappointed with our stay. When we arrived, the gate was hanging off and the key in the door looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The cooker was filthy, clearly not cleaned for a while and the fridge was just gross-full of ice and frozen orange spills that hadn’t been defrosted. I’ve worked in catering for over 30 years, so I definitely know what a clean kitchen should look like. The dishwasher had leftover food bits in it, which we never used. The place felt tired and a bit run down, especially the garden furniture which was all worn out. The kids did enjoy the hot tub, but the play area was pretty disappointing-nothing much there. We didn’t see any of the owners, only a few texts about extras like the swimming pool and gym, which cost extra. The surrounding area was littered with rubbish and the hot water was scalding hot, unsafe for kids without any warning signs. We wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to friends. Not a great experience.

The chalet was falling apart, with rotten wood everywhere. Furniture was just okay, but hinges and fittings were loose or missing. Honestly, one of our worst holidays ever!

We spent a week over Easter and really enjoyed our stay. The site is quite cosy and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which made everything easier. The lodge was a bit quirky and maybe a bit old-fashioned, but it was spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub was definitely a highlight! There was plenty to keep us busy too - a pool (we had it all to ourselves!), squash courts, a gym and outdoor tennis. Our dogs loved how welcoming the place was. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

We had a lovely family getaway here. It’s really about making the most of it and you get what you pay for. The cabin’s a bit on the older side, so don’t expect shiny new furniture or high-end appliances. Bedding and towels were spotless and comfy, which was great. We did have to ask for extra towels, so it’s worth bringing some along, especially if you’re planning to use the hot tub a lot. The appliances all worked fine, no issues there. The shower was a bit weak but hot enough to do the job. The kitchen could do with a pizza cutter-lol! The hot tub was definitely a highlight, even if we didn’t use the pool or other facilities on-site. The drive up is quite steep, but our car made it fine. Stunning views too, we’d definitely come back!

We had a really pleasant stay! The place was comfy and inviting, making us feel at home right away. Check-in was smooth and the staff were super friendly and helpful, giving us tips on local walks and spots to visit. Would definitely come back!

The place felt really old and needed a proper update, with dusty furniture and broken drawers. The smell was horrible and just kept getting worse. Not great at all, unfortunately.

We stayed at Holly Lodge and found the shower room to be perfectly fine, unlike Redwood which needed a bit of updating in the bathroom. The walk from the cottage isn’t the most scenic and the drive around the large property can be a bit off-putting, especially with discarded hot tubs and other bits lying around. That said, we really enjoyed the peaceful countryside setting and the location was ideal for visiting Oswestry, Llangollen and Chirk. The beds were comfy and we had some lovely nights’ sleep. We used the hot tub a few times - it looked br and new! For the price, especially for two lodges sharing with friends, it was a bargain. The food at CastleBistro in Chirk and the Golden Lion in Llangollen was spot on. Plus, Plas Newydd was a lovely visit!

Honestly, we had a lovely time at Copper Beech Lodge. The inside was well-equipped with all the kitchen utensils you could need, which was great. We spent some evenings playing board games, which was a lot of fun. The hottub was definitely the highlight-so relaxing under the stars. It’s ideal if you’re after a peaceful, outdoor-loving getaway with family.

We stayed at Copper Beech Lodge over Christmas and honestly, it was just what we needed. The location is so peaceful and scenic, perfect for a quiet getaway. The hot tub was a real highlight-such a lovely touch! There’s a nice walk nearby, which made for some great days outdoors and everything we needed was within a short drive, including shops. The hosts, Simon & Jeanette, really went above and beyond; they were super friendly and helpful. They even decorated the lodge with a pretty lit-up tree and left us a gift and card on arrival - so thoughtful! On Christmas Eve, they dropped round a new roasting set, which made cooking so much easier. It truly felt like a home from home. We had an amazing stay and can’t wait to come back!

The draft coming through the door was quite noticeable and made it a bit chilly, but it’s something the owners could easily fix. Still, we’d happily use them again!

We recently stayed at Redwood Lodge for a short getaway and honestly, it was just what we needed. The place looked exactly like the photos - lovely and spotless. Some reviews mentioned a musty smell, but honestly, it just smelled like a proper wooden lodge to us, which felt quite authentic. The beds were really comfy and the hot tub was a real treat after a long walk. Plenty of trails nearby too. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We had a really chilled stay at this lodge. It’s a bit worn in some spots, but honestly, it didn’t bother us much. The space was great for relaxing and the owner was super friendly when we needed a hand. Loved the peace and quiet, especially off peak. Plus, having towels included was a nice touch. Plenty of local spots to explore too!

Great lodge and hot tub and lovely surroundings

Thoughouly enjoyed our relaxing break and our log cabin with hot tub. A cover for the hot tub would be beneficial when it rains.

Had a lovely stay. Staff were very helpful when needing information about the surrounding area and walks. The facilities were lovely and easy to access when in use. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to relax and have a romantic get away.

Beautiful scenic stay! This was a perfect place for our family with 4 children under 10 years. We love being outdoors and exploring woodlands so the location was perfect for us. It was very private and quiet which is perfect if you enjoy a secluded trip away from a busy life. We also really enjoyed the swimming pool, the booking was really easy for this, we really enjoyed we had the pool to our selves. The pool was very clean.
The only recommendation we have would probably a map as we felt bad as we had to text the owners a couple of times, however they were super friendly and helpful.
David
What a fantastic find, will definitely be going back. So quiet and homely. Perfect break
Ruth
The lodge itself could do with a bit of 'doing up' as looking a little tired, windows where double glazed but couple of hamdles missing and the wind was blowing straight through windows and door
However, everything else was amazing, Ollie was extremely helpful and friendly.
Private swimming pool to hire which was nice, although again a little 'tired' looking
Also a gym and pool room with self service bar which was really nice
Fantastic scenery, could do with more signage to actual lodges off main road and very narrow, twisty, hilly lane to the lodges, which made the entrance a little interesting, also a recently fallen tree due to storms which we had to drive under, very exciting
Would definitely recommend for a stay, even better in summer!
Elena
Thank you! We had a nice pre-Christmas break?
