We had a really nice, chill stay. The cottage was spotless and had all we needed, plus some thoughtful extras. Highly recommend it!

We stayed at the lodge recently and honestly, it’s a lovely place with really nice decor and comfy beds. Everything was super clean and tidy, which we appreciated. However, we did notice quite a bit of mould in the corner of the main bedroom, which gave off a strong smell and slightly spoiled the experience. A few little touches, like providing hand soap and not having to strip the beds at checkout, would definitely improve things. The hot tub area is a bit odd - it's fenced off and we think lowering one side would make a big difference, offering better views of the valley. Still, overall, a pretty great stay!

Honestly, we loved it! The place was super well organised and the hosts were genuinely lovely and helpful throughout. The location is just perfect - peaceful and scenic. We’re definitely coming back next year! Can’t wait!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and honestly, Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The building itself is beautifully restored, preserving its charm while offering modern comfort. The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you enjoy wandering through quaint villages like Thaxted. It’s a peaceful spot with everything you need for a restful break. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cosy getaway!

We had an absolutely lovely stay! The location is perfect, especially sitting out on the veranda without worrying about anyone peering in. The lodge was spotless and really well equipped, with a layout that made everything easy. We first visited last year for a special birthday and a trip to Kielder Observatory - the wildlife, peaceful surroundings and dark skies are just fantastic. We’re not hot tub people, but tried it and it really helped with aches and pains!

Our time at Oscars Lodge was truly lovely. The location is absolutely stunning and the hot tub was a definite highlight. Jackie and David were super friendly and helpful without being overbearing, which we appreciated. Plenty of space for us three and everything we needed was there. We’d definitely come back to this beautiful part of Northumberl and!

We had a great time at this place! The park itself is really peaceful, perfect for relaxing. The lodge was comfy and the hot tub was a nice touch. We lucked out with the weather - one night the sky was incredible, full of stars. Plenty of walks and cycle routes nearby, plus a pub with tasty food within walking distance. Definitely planning to come back!

We had such a lovely stay at this good place. The location is stunning and super private, which we really appreciated. The hosts were genuinely friendly and always ready to help if needed, but kept a good distance to maintain our privacy. The hot tub was a highlight after a long day cycling around. One thing to note is that the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, so there’s quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn’t bother us much after a while, but it’s worth mentioning for light sleepers. Overall, we’d definitely come back!

We had a fantastic stay at the lodge! It’s perfect for couples or small groups, with just enough space and a lovely surprise dressing room off the main bedroom. The hot tub, though at the front, felt quite private thanks to the fencing. We’d definitely come back, absolutely loved it!

We really enjoyed the mountain biking here, even though the food options were limited. Self-catering worked well for us, so no worries!

A fantastic holiday it’s was fabulous

Beautiful setting. Beautiful accomodation. Perfect long weekend away. The owner was very welcoming and helpful. The lodge had everything we needed in it. Only thing we were disappointed about was not being able to see the stars at night but it was wrong time of the year I think for that. I would highly recommend it to anyone especially those wanting a peaceful setting to relax but with adventures close by for families who also want to explore, cycle, walk, do water sports etc too.
