Honestly, the place was disgusting when we left.

The lodge feels a bit tired and needs some love. The sofa and bed aren’t comfy and the shower cubicle was patched up with tape. Could be lovely with some TLC, really!

The lodge was lovely and suited our needs perfectly. A bit of TLC wouldn’t hurt-some windows won’t close, the door handle’s broken and the bedside light’s out. Still, overall, we enjoyed it!

The cabin was quite basic inside. The drawers smelled weird, so I had to grab some fresheners. Also, the toilet wasn’t smelling great either. Not the best experience.

We stayed at this place recently and honestly, it’s got loads of potential but really needs some TLC. The view was stunning and it’s such a charming spot, but the state of the room left us a bit disappointed. The bed was so creaky, it felt like it might fall apart if you shifted even a little - not exactly comfy! The pillows were just awful, thin as cardboard and probably as old. There was a loose sheet on the mattress that kept sliding around and in the morning, we noticed the fitted sheet had what looked like urine stains, which was pretty gross. The kitchenware was also a letdown; the pans looked battered and needed a good scrub before use. The kettle was grimy on the outside with brown dirt and the sofa had torn cushions, so not very inviting. The shower was another issue - the shower head bar was broken, so we had to hold the shower head ourselves or risk it falling off, which it did - right onto my head! The dustpan and brush were useless, with bent and out-of-shape bristles. It’s such a shame because the place itself is lovely and the views are incredible, but considering what we paid - nearly £100 a night - I expected better, especially since we were charged extra to bring our dog. Honestly, for the price, I was pretty disappointed.

We spent a week here in June and honestly, it was lovely. The views over the village and fields are stunning - really picturesque. The location was great, close enough to beaches and within walking distance of two pubs, which was handy. Woolacombe and other beaches are just a short drive away. Justin, the host, was super friendly and helpful. The place itself was comfy and had everything we needed. Definitely recommend and we’ll be back for sure!

We found the place really cosy and spotless, which was great. The wardrobe was a bit snug for two of us, but since we packed for all the weather surprises, it felt like we had four people's clothes! The shower was warm and had instant hot water, which was a bonus. The bed was super comfy and everything looked fresh and tidy when we arrived. Loved sitting outside with the table, chairs and a glass of the free Prosecco if the weather was nice. Definitely recommend!

We had such a lovely weekend at the Putsborough lodge! The place was spotless and surprisingly spacious, with just the right facilities. The view from the front was absolutely stunning, perfect for unwinding. The beds were comfy and it’s really ideal if you’re after some peace and quiet. Honestly, we’d definitely return - it’s just a great spot to relax without any fuss.

Nice place overall, though the steep walk up is a bit of a workout. Sofa’s a little low, but still lovely stay.

We found the lodge pretty run down, with chipped paint on the beds, which was a real letdown. Also, it’s not ideal for older guests with mobility issues and we wish that info had been clearer before booking. Disappointing overall.

Honestly, it's frustrating how the owner can take your money but doesn't bother to keep the place clean. We had to buy our own cleaning supplies just to tidy up ourselves. Nobody answers the phone or is around when you need help, which is really poor service. We usually stay at Hawkchurch Resort and Spa, where everything’s spotless and towels are provided. This place definitely needs a serious overhaul-maybe close it for a bit to sort out the cabins and get proper furniture or a proper cleaner in.

The setting of these lodges is absolutely stunning, no doubt about that. Sadly, the cleanliness inside was quite disappointing - rubbish from previous visitors and overall grime. Considering the price, I expected a much higher standard, really let us down.

We had such a lovely stay here! Perfect for a peaceful break, especially with our dogs - they loved the open spaces and walks right from the site without needing to jump in the car. The walk to Watermouth harbour through the dog-friendly field was just beautiful and the views from the lodge’s deck were stunning, ideal for lazy afternoons. The lodge itself was cosy and well-equipped, making it easy to settle in with the dogs. We also enjoyed visiting the nearby pub in the village; it’s really charming. Justin, the site manager, was super helpful and friendly, always happy to share local tips, which made our trip even better. All in all, it’s a fantastic spot to escape the hustle and relax in gorgeous countryside and coast. We’d definitely come back - it really felt like a home away from home!

Honestly, we weren’t expecting much, but the place was pretty disappointing. The fridge was covered in mould, so we had to give it a good scrub before storing any food. The plates, cups and pans also needed cleaning, which was a bit of a pain. We found a dog chew and loads of dust under the radiator, not great. The bathroom was grimy and the window wouldn’t close properly, so bugs kept coming in every morning. The toilet seat was broken too. The bed was comfy but a hassle to get into since we had to pull it out every night. The sofa definitely needs an upgrade, it’s seen better days. Outside, the lodge was filthy - cobwebs in the open windows, mould inside the panes, definitely overdue for a proper clean.

We chose this place mainly because there isn’t much nearby and the area is really hilly, which was a bit of a challenge with the dogs. They loved running around in the woods nearby, so that was a big plus! It’d be really helpful if they had a map of local walks available in the room, though - we only found out from a local lady just before leaving and it was too late to buy one. The room itself had all the essentials, but it wasn’t the cleanest - we did spot a mouse’s droppings under the kitchen sink, though luckily we didn’t see the mouse itself. There’s a pub down the hill that’s dog-friendly and their food was quite nice. We did lots of exploring, visiting Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Castle Hill - miles of walking! One thing that was a bit confusing was the check-in time; the email said 5pm, but we actually could’ve arrived from 3pm. On the last day, we could stay until 10am, which was handy. Honestly, we don’t think we’ll go back since we feel like we’ve seen all there is to see in the area and it’s quite a trek to get here.

Great location with lovely views. Fantastic for us and 3 dogs with walks all around.
Great base for exploring north Devon.
Accommodation was basic but everything we needed.
Would visit again.

Very friendly and helpful staff; Justin! Lovely clean lodge, with everything we needed. Beautiful views and a lovely dog walk at the back of the site. Up a very steep hill! But well worth it. Would highly recommend. Our second visit.
