The owners were genuinely lovely and went out of their way when the storm knocked out the power. The place was spotless and cosy, plus our dog loved the secure garden and the hot tub was a real treat!

The cottage itself is adorable, with that charming half-timbered look and the shower was surprisingly powerful-perfect after a long walk. Speaking of walks, the fields around are perfect for exploring and it’s a quick trip to Thaxted with its beautiful timbered houses and windmill. The parking right next to the cottage was a real bonus too. Spotlessly clean, well heated and super cosy overall.

Rob and Sharon really put a lot of effort into transforming this old building with care and they’re genuinely lovely hosts-plus Bonnie’s a sweetheart! The place has a cosy, welcoming vibe, perfect for relaxing. It’s situated in a lovely bit of Essex, so we’d definitely recommend exploring Thaxted and the nearby villages; there’s so much history and charming architecture to enjoy. We felt right at home and will be coming back for sure!

One thing to note, the cottage is just under Stansted’s flight path, so there's quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn’t bother us much once we got used to it, but it might be a problem if you're sensitive to noise. All in all, a great place to relax!

We were surprised at how well equipped it was - I ended up overloading the car! The welcome pack was really helpful, with all the info and menus we needed.
