We stayed here last year and really enjoyed it, so we were quite disappointed to miss out this time. The cabin was super clean and peaceful, just what we needed. Electricity was paid separately, but we only used about £4 and it lasted us ages. Definitely planning to return when we can!

So, we stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, it was quite a pleasant experience overall. The place had all the essentials for a short break - everything was clean and the utilities worked well. The electric fire in the living room was a real highlight, especially on that rainy night when we could hear the lovely patter of the rain, which made it so cosy. We also found the coin-operated electricity box pretty handy, accepting both £1 and £2 coins, which was a nice touch. Now, a few things to note - there was quite a bit of dust in some corners, but it was a quick wipe to sort that out, so not a big deal. The toilet seat was a bit wobbly, which was a minor annoyance. We did run into a bit of a hiccup with the bath; even though it’s there, it takes ages to fill and we were told to use the shower instead. However, because of my daughter’s additional needs, she’s only able to have baths, so that was a bit frustrating. The owners were really helpful, giving us plenty of info about taxis, local eateries and delivery options - which was much appreciated. We didn’t have a car, so relying on taxis was a bit limiting, especially when trying to explore the surroundings. We weren’t told if we could wander around the wooded area nearby, so we stayed mostly inside, which was a shame because my daughter loves being outdoors. She’s autistic and not always aware of dangers, so it was a little tricky for her. One day, the owners had to cut down a couple of trees, which was quite loud and since we’d planned to leave that evening, we had to cut our visit short and leave by 10 am instead of when we’d initially planned. The noise and the crowd got a bit overwhelming for my daughter, so we left a little earlier than expected. Ordering food was straightforward, just a tip - if you’re using a delivery app, make sure you give clear instructions to the driver. We ordered through Just Eat and the restaurant only accepted cash, but we managed to direct the delivery fine and left a tip for the hassle. All in all, it was a nice stay. The countryside around the lodge is lovely and the nearby parks like Beecraigs and Muiravonside are fantastic - my daughter loved them. They can get busy quickly, even during term time, so we had to leave after an hour or so. If only we had a car, things might have been easier, but still, it’s a decent place to unwind if you don’t mind the occasional inconvenience.

We stayed at this lovely cottage recently and honestly, the location is just stunning. The surrounding countryside is so peaceful and quiet, perfect for a relaxing break. The host was super friendly and really helpful with any questions we had. The lodge itself is a great size for a small family - we brought along our 2-year-old and it felt just right. Everything we needed was there, which made things easy. However, I was a bit surprised to discover there’s an electric coin meter that takes £1 coins, especially after a long 8-hour drive. We’ve stayed in loads of places around the world, but I’ve never had to pay for electric separately like that. It’s understandable that electricity costs money, but it felt a bit unfair to pay extra after already paying for the stay. To warm up the lodge from being cold, we ended up using around £10 in coins in just a day, but after that, keeping it warm was manageable. Still, it’s worth mentioning that little quirk.

We had a lovely stay! The place had everything we needed, from kitchen roll to washing up liquid and even tinfoil. WiFi was a bit of a shock when it was gone, but it was clear beforeh and, so no worries there.

We stayed in the Burns Lodge, not Pentl and, but it was really cosy and comfortable. The place has potential, but it lacked those little touches that could’ve made our stay perfect - kinda let it down. Would love to return since it’s so central and close to family. The £1 coin meter was crazy expensive, costing around £3-4 daily! Definitely on a rip-off tariff.

We had a great surprise when we got to the location to these lovely wooden cabins. Beautiful setting, everything you need, lovely wood setting which are children loved to explore finding wild raspberries. We really enjoyed it & will definitely book again.

Lovely The lodge is in a beautiful area. Plenty of wildlife Staff were pleasant, helpful and could not for us. The dog loved it as well.

This is a hidden gem! Beside the meadow, the river, 3 miles from the town. I would say book it asap. Gorgeous time with my little family.

Lovely lodge beautiful area my boys loved the woodlands and ropeswing , lots of local history in boness and Linlithgow and Edinburgh nearby, the owner was friendly and we would definitely return

If you need time away to relax, this is a good option. The kitchen, bedrooms and living room were in fairly good condition but the bathroom could do with a makeover - however that didn't take away from the overall experience too much. The entire lodge was very clean. Family of one parent with 2 adult children aged mid 20s.

We thoroughly enjoyed this holiday. We have holidayed in centre parcs for a number of years and this was a nice alternative. The owners couldn't have been more helpful! The area itself is very picturesque. Although if you didn't have a car I would imagine it could be more difficult to get about as the area is remote. A great base in order to explore the Lothians and Edinburgh. We will definitely be back!
