We stayed here for a week in July with our two tiny dachshunds and honestly, they loved every minute! The village of Thaxted is charming and the cottage itself is really lovely. The hot tub was a real treat, especially during the scorching weather, as it cooled the water just right for a refreshing dip. The hosts were super friendly and made us feel welcome, which was nice. Watching the planes land near Stansted was surprisingly entertaining too! Overall, we’d definitely recommend Hide for a relaxed getaway with your furry friends.

The lodge had everything you could need - dishwasher, washing machine, TVs in every bedroom plus USB ports. Spacious and clean. The hot tub was well maintained and at perfect temperature- ideal at the end of the day to chill out on the private terrace. Really lovely place.

Parking right next to the cottage was a bonus and the place was spotlessly clean. Perfect for exploring Thaxted and its beautiful walks across the fields!

The cottage itself is gorgeous and the hot tub was a real highlight, especially since it was so hot outside-cooling the water made it super refreshing. The hosts were really friendly and welcoming and it was lovely to see their horses being taken out daily. Being near Stansted’s flight path was interesting; watching planes land added a bit of fun to our stay. We’d definitely come back!

We had a fantastic weekend at this place! Everything about it suited us perfectly. The garden was a hit, especially for our dogs - Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it, according to the vet! The underfloor heating kept us cosy and honestly, we’re already planning to come back. Great spot, really loved it!

The garden was perfect for the dogs and they couldn’t get enough of the underfloor heating - Luna was wagging her tail like crazy all weekend! Honestly, the pups were happier than us. Being near the Stansted flight path was interesting and watching the planes land added a bit of excitement to our mornings. We’d happily recommend it!

Really enjoyed the kids' area

We’ve visited a few times now and honestly, it’s the little things that keep us coming back. The gardens are always tidy, the buildings look great and the rooms are spotless. The BBQ on Tuesday was fantastic-loved the variety of cold dishes and meats. Looks like everyone else enjoyed the burgers and chicken too, they kept going back for more!

We stayed at the Caldew and were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Troutbeck cottage with three bedrooms. We didn’t really need that many, but it was lovely anyway. The only thing we noticed was the low ceilings on the Caldew, especially since my partner is over 6ft. Still, overall a nice stay!

The location was perfect - lots of lovely walks and exploring nearby villages like Thaxted. We definitely left feeling refreshed and relaxed. All in all, a top-notch break and we’d happily come back again!

We loved exploring the charming village they’ve built here. The Skiddow was really close to the car park and main areas like reception, restaurant and bar, which was super convenient. The cottage was spotless, roomy and cosy. The kitchen had all the basics. Overall, a great stay-we’ll be back for sure!

Excellent setup and location in need of balconies painting and restaurant closed 2 days, which we understand due to short taff in the kitchen but the bar could of been open. All in we have stayed 10 times and will make it 11 then 12+

We stayed in Caldew 1, myself, my husband and two children aged 7 and 11. The contact free check in worked very well. I arranged an online shop for an hour after we arrived at reception. This was great but next time would meet the van in the guest car park as there is more space. The lodge was well equipped and very clean. The children used the swimming pool twice a day which was fantastic. Our hot tub was serviced every day and we had lots of fun using that. Places I would recommend a visit to with children are - Lowther Castle (huge adventure play area), Aira Force (the kids played in the stream for hours), and Brougham Castle. We packed lunches everyday which saved money. A big thank you to the reception staff at Whitbarrow Village who worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. My daughter particularly enjoyed feeding the ducks with the food you gave her

We had a fantastic few nights Surroundings are stunning as is the accommodation and facilities. Very calming place and lots for the kids. We really enjoyed the pool which was spotlessly clean. The staff were lovely and so helpful at the main reception. Food in the restaurant was delicious. We would return tomorrow ?

Great holiday super facilities

We stayed in one of the ullswater apartments and it was fab...Nice spacious room, well equipped little kitchenette with hob sink and microwave oven large spacious bathroom, good shower. The site had lovely outdoor areas and plenty to keep kids amused mini golf and the swimming pool were a big hit. Great location for exploring the lakes really easy to get to everywhere. Would definitely stay again!

I’m absolutely delighted about staying there just feeling Sad because we stayed there too short…4 night definitely too short. We will back next year ??
