Perfect last minute break with amazing golf course and spa. Lodges are well equipped and in great condition. Golf course was immaculate and a joy to play will definitely look to come back in the future and as it’s first time I’ve used hoseasons to book a trip will definitely look into searches of this site again. Great choices and value for money

We stayed here for a week in July with our two mini daschunds and honestly, it was a lovely experience. The cottage itself is charming and the hot tub was a real highlight-perfectly timed during the hot weather to cool off. The hosts were super friendly and made us feel very welcome; it was nice to see them taking their dogs out to the fields daily. Being close to the flight path near Stansted was interesting too, we actually enjoyed watching the planes come in. Overall, we’d definitely recommend Hide for a relaxing getaway!

We had a lovely time at the cabin! The space was perfect and the hot tub was a real highlight. The decking area looked fantastic in the sunshine. We’d definitely return for another stay. Absolutely loved it!

Lovely furniture and fittings. Perfect for our dog who could have the run of the place due to it being fenced and gated

We had a fantastic stay! The house was super well equipped and kept us warm despite the rainy December weather. The bath was perfect after a long day and the shower was great too. The location is ideal if your dogs dislike fireworks - it’s really remote, so no noise worries. The property is beautifully converted and just lovely overall. Thanks a lot!

I stayed in one of the 4 person Luxury Boutique Retreat Spa Lodges with private spa garden and sauna, on the West Park. Absolutely gorgeous lodge, still looks brand new and so well cared for you’d think it has never been used before. Everything you could need, to the point I even looked up the cost to buy one as I’d happily live in one! Didn’t venture around the resort or into the main spa, owing to the lodge having its own private spa garden with sauna as well as hot tub, so I didn’t feel the need to book into the main spa so can’t comment on that, and I catered myself in the fully equipped and stylish kitchen in the lodge, so didn’t visit any of the on site restaurants, so I can only review the actual lodge. It had everything I could need there though and although I didn’t need to interact with staff over anything whilst I was there (it’s self check in/out), I did email before arriving with a query and staff replied quickly and efficiently and couldn’t have been more helpful and polite in responding. Any staff I saw in passing e.g walking past, checking hot tub etc were all polite and friendly. The hot tub gets checked daily, however for my lodge this was just after 10am each day, which was fine for me as I didn’t plan to use it before that time, but if you don’t like going in until the chemical levels are checked, don’t expect an early morning dip. On one of the days it was after 11am but all other days were just after 10am. The hot tub was clean, garden area clean and tidy, and outdoor sauna was a fabulous addition. It has a built in stereo and is a lovely added extra, although as it is self-serve, remember to turn it on a while before you want to use it for it to get up to heat otherwise you’ll be sitting in it waiting for it to get hot! Also depending on the weather/humidity beware of the mosquitoes over the hot tub and around the garden. One of the days I was there I didn’t see a single one but another day, which must have been different humidity, there was a huge swarm of them above the hot tub in the evening, to the point I abandoned use of the hot tub and went indoors. The description of the lodge also said that one of the two bathrooms had a bath with shower over, whilst the other was just a walk-in shower, however it was actually a walk-in shower in both rooms and no bath, again this was fine for me (although I do love a bath) but worth noting if you specifically require a bath. One of the showers didn’t drain the water efficiently out of the plug at first (never got to the bottom of why because it wasn’t blocked or anything and started working eventually) and the water built up and started overflowing the shower tray and flooding the bathroom floor before I looked down and realised what was happening (quickly turned off the shower and investigated the plug and somehow managed to get the water draining) but other than that not a single fault with any of the facilities or amenities and the lodge had everything I could possibly need. The lodge was peaceful and the setting tranquil, with lots of love areas to walk and plenty of places close by if you want to go for a day out. I occasionally saw neighbours coming and going to their lodges but the lodge gardens are fully private and far enough from each other not to even hear neighbours, so it is a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful retreat which was exactly what I was wanting. I came away feeling fully relaxed and refreshed and will definitely return.

We had such a lovely stay at this cosy cottage, tucked away on a working farm but still very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely and made us feel really welcome. The place itself is surprisingly spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that made for great sleeps. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely secluded and furnished nicely. We also enjoyed exploring the walks nearby and dining in Thaxted; The Star and The Maypole are top choices. Overall, we’d definitely recommend it!

Poor parking arrangements due to inconsiderate guests hogging space for too long on departure day. Also someone using the drop off spot as a parking space

We just got back from a fantastic week at Goddards Mead. The cottage had everything we needed and more. The hosts were so friendly and inviting, making us feel right at home. Even on a busy farm, it was such a peaceful retreat!

Peaceful and very relaxing.

Fantastic site and lodge was great had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend it to others. Just wee thing for the site maybe needs a small park area for children just to give them something to do but apart from that nice site and walks to do and went to restaurant onsite and highly recommend
John
Great location

The lodge was lovely, spotless, located and equipped to perfection.

I can't really comment on staff as we didn't see anyone, apart from the guy in the bar. The bar closed at 6 on the Monday we arrived, the restaurant was closed & only opened till 4 or 6 on the remaining 3 days we were there. As it's a golf resort we were expecting the restaurant & bar to be open later to cater for the golfers. We found some lovely pubs & cafes in/on the way to Waltham though. Lodge was beautiful & the setting is very quiet. Had a very relaxing stay.
Michael
Wonderful setting, amazing lodges with top quality furniture and fittings.
Robert
Amazing surroundings, restaurants excellent, I don't play golf but the courses looked really well kept.
