We loved this charming little cottage, perfect for a peaceful getaway. It’s tucked away enough to feel private but still near local shops and eateries. The hot tub and underfloor heating in the bathroom made it extra special. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie are lovely hosts-we’ll be back soon!

The place is spotlessly clean, with a warm, well-heated interior that feels really welcoming. The shower is powerful and the bed super comfy - perfect for relaxing after exploring. Parking right next to the cottage is a real bonus, especially when heading out for walks to Thaxted and beyond. Truly a charming spot!

The owners were super friendly and always happy to help if needed, but they kept that nice sense of privacy which we appreciated. The hot tub was a real highlight after cycling all day! One thing to note is that the cottage is right under Stansted’s flight path, so there is quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn’t bother us much once we got used to it, but it might be worth considering if you’re sensitive to noise. Overall, a great spot!

Goddard's Mead offers everything for a truly relaxing stay and the location is perfect for exploring Essex’s lovely villages and towns like Thaxted. We loved wandering around and soaking in the history. Definitely recommend if you want a cosy and interesting place to stay!
