We had such a lovely stay at this place. The setting is stunning and very private, which we really appreciated. The owners are super friendly and always there if you need anything, but they respect your space. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day out cycling. Just a heads up, the cottage sits directly under Stansted’s flight path, so there’s quite a bit of noise from the planes. It didn’t bother us after a while, but if you’re sensitive to noise, it’s worth knowing. Overall, we’d definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at this cosy little cabin, perfect for a quiet getaway. The private setting with the enclosed garden and beautiful views made it feel special. Just a heads up, there’s no shop or restaurant on site, so bring your supplies. The walk into Whitby along the old railway line is lovely if you’re up for it, but driving is quick too. Nearby Perry’s garden centre in Sleights is worth a visit, especially the cafe by the river. Overall, a lovely spot for a peaceful break!

We had a really lovely time staying here! Sharon and Robert were fantastic hosts and made us feel right at home. The place was spotlessly clean, cosy and perfect for Archie with plenty of secure space. The location was ideal - loads of nice walks and exploring nearby villages like Thaxted. We definitely left feeling refreshed and relaxed. It’s a great spot for a peaceful break, definitely recommended!

We loved the seclusion of Cook's Cabin, nestled alone among the other brick buildings. It's simple but cosy, perfect for a quiet escape. Definitely somewhere we'd return to for a peaceful break!

We stayed at Marton Cottage for four nights and really enjoyed it. The place was spotless and had everything we needed, even with Covid restrictions in place. The balcony offering views of the river and the North Yorks steam trains was just lovely - such a bonus! It’s also perfect for walking or cycling along the old railway line from Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay. Would definitely recommend it, though we didn’t try the restaurant.

We spent a lovely weekend at this cottage, which is tucked away on a working farm but still feels really private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely and welcoming. The place itself is so spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that made sleeping easy. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely enclosed-and has nice furniture to relax on. There are plenty of lovely walks nearby and Thaxted has some great restaurants like The Star and The Maypole. We’d definitely recommend it!

We needed a quick escape for the dog and this place was just right. Lovely scenery, close to great pubs and plenty of space for walks. Honestly, the dog didn’t want to leave at all!

We had a fantastic stay at this cosy little cottage. Honestly, we didn’t need to bring a thing because it’s so well stocked. The welcome pack was really thoughtful, with all the info and menus - saved us so much hassle. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs, who loved running around. The hot tub was just what we needed after long days out. Sharon and RobeRead were quick to reply whenever we had questions. Thanks for a lovely break - we’ll definitely be coming back!

We had a lovely stay at this cozy cottage. The kitchen may be a bit compact, but it’s really well stocked with everything we needed. The furnishings are a little worn, but super clean and tidy, which is what matters most. The bathroom looks fairly new, with a nice shower over the bath. The downstairs loo is small, so might not suit everyone, especially those with mobility issues. Heating and cold water were straightforward to operate and the induction hob came with clear instructions. All in all, a great little place!

Lovely cottage. The kitchen is small but well equipped. The furnishings are used but clean and tidy. The bathroom has a shower over the bath and appears to be newly installed. The downstairs loo is small and might be an issue for people with mobility problems. The heating and cold water was simple to use. The hob is induction but there are clear instructions given in a manual located inside the cottage. There is also a number on your site map for additional help.

Overall, we had a decent stay. The cottage was comfy and the beds were really nice, though a bit noisy sometimes. The main issue was the seating downstairs - only enough for four people, even though five of us stayed. Also, there weren’t enough sockets in the rooms, with just one per bedroom and nowhere near the seating areas. Still, it wasn’t too bad!

The property we stayed in was okay, but the seating arrangements downstairs didn’t match the sleeping capacity - 5 of us comfortably slept in the cottage but on an evening, the sofas only comfortably sat 4. Distinct lack of sockets in all the rooms, too - only 1 per bedroom and none near the table or seating areas. Single beds a little noisy, but very comfortable.

We recently stayed in Cottage 37 and overall, it was a pretty decent experience. The place was spotlessly clean and obviously well cared for, which we appreciated. The only minor issue on the cleanliness side was the shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom - it could definitely do with being replaced and the sealant around the bath is starting to look a bit mouldy, so that might need some attention soon. It made us smile to see all the sheets marked with the cottage number in permanent marker - quirky little detail! The fitted sheet in the master bedroom was a bit small for the mattress, constantly pinging off the corners, so maybe a bigger one would help. We also found the hanging space a little limited; a few extra coat hangers would have been useful, especially since there was still plenty of room in the wardrobe. An ironing board would be a handy addition too, especially for longer stays. Inside the kitchen, there's a folder with instructions for the appliances. Some of them, particularly the induction hob, could do with clearer guidance - once you get the hang of them, they’re quite straightforward. Also, it’d be helpful to know when the hot water booster kicks in in the mornings. Initially, the WiFi was a nightmare - wouldn’t load anything - but after restarting the router, it surprisingly worked much better than expected, letting us browse social media and surf the web without issue. All in all, a nice place with just a few tweaks that could make it even better!

Really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage’s layout and views were lovely and it’s well equipped and cosy. Only downside was the parking bays - wish they were a bit larger!

We stayed at this cosy little cottage in a quiet holiday village and loved the stunning views. It’s perfect for a relaxing break, though do remember to stock up beforehand since there’s no shop on-site. The hilly terrain might be tricky for some, but overall, a lovely spot!

We stayed at this place recently and honestly, it’s a gem. The house is super well equipped and kept us warm even on the drizzly December days. The bath was lovely and the shower was great too! The location is perfect if you’ve got noise-sensitive dogs, being in the middle of nowhere. And don’t worry about the planes - they didn’t bother us at all. Thanks a lot!

The cottage was truly lovely, tucked away in such a peaceful spot-perfect for unwinding. The hot tub was a real treat and the place was spotless, with everything we needed. Loads of walks nearby and easy to explore the village. Had a fantastic time!

First visit, and a great time had! We are a family with an 18month old, and the site, facilities and location was first class!
Jackie
Beautiful location for a holiday beside the river Esk. Accommodation was lovely 2 bedroom cottage with nice outside area with a bench and bushes either side to give a bit of privacy. Easy walk into Whitby for plenty to see and wander round. Lots of local villages and the Yorkshire Moors in easy reach too. Only minor point. As stated in the information WiFi is very poor. Had we thought about it we would have taken a device with plenty of data so we could use Netflix, Spotify or Internet on the one wet evening. TV and radio reception wasn't great either when the weather was bad.
Elaine
Lovely cottage in a beautiful location with the added bonus of the steam train passing by.
Angela
We really loved our holiday at Captain Cooks Haven and would very much like to return sometime It was spotlessly clean and well equipped
K
A lovely gem of a place. Peaceful and very well kept. Easy access to Whitby couple of minutes drive by car. Accommodation was lovely and had everything we needed. The pool was great. A really relaxed and easy going holiday.
Ian
Lovely relaxing time, cottage was really clean and well equipped, only downside was the shower which due to the sloping ceiling, means it's very low down.
Zoe
We had a fabulous holiday
Neil
Excellent park in a great location with fantastic views. Nice pool, helpful staff. The kitchen fixtures and fittings are a little dated but everything worked and it was a fantastic holiday. Great value for money. Would definitely book again!
Douglas
Great place and value Lots of walks and things to do
Stephen
A fantastic week holiday, in cottage 32. the cottage was in a very good position, very well appointed with the owners individual décor and collectables, that made it perfect for us, we daily walked into Whitby along the Cindor trail ,where we had most meals, so did not use the cooker etc in the cottage, As it was a hot week, we found the bedrooms being down stairs was a great help to keep cool, the massive shower worked great. The site, was very well cared for, everything was well kept, and no rubbish/litter anywhere. the site manager, and his staff, were always very helpful, and friendly. Worst thing for us was coming home.
Joanna
Lovely place in a fab location. We would definitely return.
Sue
A really tranquil setting beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife ....squirrels mallards cormorants herons....some other resident said they'd spotted seals but unfortunately we didn't. Lovely walks into Whitby and along the riverbank
Sara
We stayed for a 4 night break, lovely cottage that was well equipped, and close to the town of Whitby. It would have been nice to be able to walk into town, whilst this was within easy reach ( Just over 1 mile ) for some it was a bit too far for us.
