We recently had a lovely getaway and honestly, it was just what we needed as a couple with a 10-month-old baby. The hot tub was definitely a highlight - so relaxing! The glamping pod was okay, though I think a few tweaks could make it even better. For example, the floors were quite wet when we arrived, which wasn’t ideal, especially since towels are limited - we had to use what we brought along to dry up. Some outdoor lighting would also make a big difference, as the area around the pod is pretty dark at night; a few lights outside would make it safer and more inviting. We also found it handy to have a mirror outside the bathroom - it’d be perfect for quick hair fixes or plugging in tools without rummaging through our bags or using phones. A full-length mirror outside the toilet door would be another small but useful addition. Cooking was a bit of a letdown, sadly. We like to prepare proper meals, but on arrival, there was no big knife or chopping board, so we had to buy those ourselves, which caught us off guard. There was also a very strong smell of bleach when we arrived, so we bought a candle to help mask it - it was quite overpowering. The on-site restaurant and bar close quite early, at 4:30 pm, but since it’s next to a beautiful river, that’s understandable - you wouldn’t want a lot of rowdy folk around. Overall, it was a decent stay and quite enjoyable. Just a few small improvements could make it a perfect 10/10!

We found the pods to be just right for a small family or a couple. Everything you need for a quick getaway is there. The hot tubs were brilliant and we loved lighting the fire to warm them up-it’s such a nice touch!

This place was just what we needed-super relaxing with a stunning river view. The hot tub was lovely and the pod was spotless and calming. We had a great time, especially with our dog along for the trip!

We had a really lovely break and the hot tub was definitely a highlight! The location was spot on, just an hour from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, making it super convenient. The cabin itself was cosy and easy to find and coming and going was a breeze. Only thing is, when we arrived, there weren’t any hand soap, hand towels, or bath towels, which was a bit of a pain. It wasn’t mentioned online, so maybe they should warn guests to bring their own towels. Still, overall, a great stay!

We loved the peaceful setting, it’s just perfect for relaxing. The only thing that’d make it better is a gate on the ramp to keep our dogs safe without having to tie them up - I managed to block it with the table and cool box! A gate would definitely give parents peace of mind with little ones around. Lovely spot though!

We loved staying at this charming cottage! It’s perfectly tucked away, offering privacy but still close enough to enjoy the local shops and cafes. The hot tub was fantastic and the underfloor heating made everything cosy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie were lovely hosts. Can’t wait to return!

We stayed at this place during a rainy December and honestly, it was perfect! The house is super well equipped and kept us warm, which was a blessing. The bath was just lovely and the shower was big enough for a proper wash. Being near a flight path didn't bother us at all and it's a fantastic spot for dogs that dislike fireworks. Thanks a lot!

We had such a lovely weekend staying here! Everything met our expectations and we’re already thinking about coming back. The pups had a blast - they loved the underfloor heating and playing in the garden. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it, but the vet said it’s from all the excitement. Happy dogs, happy us!

We recently stayed at Goddard's Mead and honestly, Rob and Sharon have done such a lovely job transforming this historic building. From the moment we arrived, we felt really welcome-those warm greetings from them and Bonnie made all the difference. The place has everything you need for a chilled-out stay and the location is perfect for exploring Essex. We spent ages wandering around Thaxted and nearby villages, soaking up the history. Definitely recommend!

We had a lovely stay at this place. The setting is really peaceful and private, perfect for relaxing away from everything. The owners were super friendly and always available if we needed anything, but they also respected our privacy completely. After long days cycling, the hot tub was just what we needed-so relaxing! One thing to keep in mind is that the cottage is right under Stansted’s flight path, so there's quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but it didn’t ruin our trip at all. Definitely recommend!

We recently stayed at this charming cottage tucked away on a working farm and it really felt like a peaceful retreat. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely people. The place itself is unexpectedly spacious, with well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The bed was super comfy, which was a bonus! The garden is private and dog-proof, perfect for relaxing outdoors. There are some great walks nearby and Thaxted has a few good eateries like The Star and The Maypole. We’d definitely recommend it!
