Honestly, the cabin was pretty snug, but it’s what you’d expect for a weekend stay if you get a decent price-anything above £300 and I’d look elsewhere. The bed was soft and a bit bouncy, not my favourite, but okay for a short break. We only had two chairs and no table inside, so we ended up using the outdoor table indoors, which was a bit awkward. The kitchen’s pretty basic-no oven, just a microwave in a cupboard with barely enough room to prep anything if you’re using the two-ring hob. Toaster and kettle are also hidden away. The fridge is actually quite spacious. The hot tub was the highlight; it heated up well when the jets were on, unlike some others we’ve tried. Overall, it’s a decent spot if you find a good deal and don’t mind the small space. We were about an hour from most places, which was fine.

WiFi connection was a bit of a letdown since it didn’t work, even though it was advertised. Still, it’s not a huge issue.

It didn’t bother us too much after a while, but if you’re sensitive to noise, it’s worth considering. Overall, we’d definitely come back!

The garden is lovely, dog-proof and has some nice furniture to relax on. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted’s eateries, like The Star and The Maypole, are well worth a visit. The hosts were super friendly and made us feel right at home. It was nice to see their dogs being taken to the fields each day. Plus, the proximity to Stansted meant we enjoyed watching the planes land. We’d happily recommend it!
