We had a wonderful stay at this charming rural retreat. The courtyard with its slate tiles was lovely and the hot tub really made the place feel extra special. Perfect for peaceful walks!

Positive points The Gledfield gate house cottage was good , very clean and comfortable for our needs With a large rear garden giving security for the dogs . Negative points The local facilities are non existent, one local village shop in Ardgy , nearest food restaurant was 10 miles away in Lairg . Road in front of cottage( the gate house cottage is not in the estate grounds ) is single track and has a 60 mph speed limit , and surprisingly can get a lot of traffic on it . Although the advert for the estate details 5 thousand acres and forest walks ,woodlands surrounding the house extend down to the River Carron, providing excellent private access to the riverbank. With approximately 1 mile of single bank salmon fishing, plus 15 named pools, the estates fishing potential doesn't end there, as a further three ponds close to Gledfield's main house are well-The first thing you are presented with on entering the cottage is a Note stating : - Guest,Welcome to Gledfield we politely ask that during your stay please refrain from entering into the estate grounds.The grounds to Gledfield Estate are private property.Thank you for your understanding and co-operation and we hope you have an enjoyable stay.Overall cottage was adequate for our needs to travel the NC 500 , and tour the West coast , but the advertising for this cottage facilities need to be reviewed

We needed a chill escape and found this place spot on. Lovely comfy digs, loads of nearby pubs and eateries, plus endless fields for walking. Honestly, our dog was loving it and didnt want to leave!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and it was such a lovely experience. The owners, Rob and Sharon, have really put a lot of thought into restoring this historic building and it shows. They gave us such a warm welcome, along with Bonnie, which made us feel right at home. The place has everything you need for a chilled-out stay. The location is perfect, in the heart of Essex and we enjoyed exploring Thaxted and nearby villages, soaking up the history and charm. Definitely recommend!

We recently stayed at this charming cottage on a working farm and honestly, it was a lovely experience. The place feels surprisingly private despite the farm setting. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely warm and friendly. The cottage itself is big, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that we slept like logs on. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely enclosed and nicely furnished. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted has some great restaurants like The Star and The Maypole. Wed definitely recommend it!

We had a fantastic stay at this lovely spot. The setting is so peaceful and private, yet the owners are super friendly and always there if you need a hand. After a long day cycling, the hot tub was just what we needed! The only thing to note is that the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of plane noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but if youre sensitive to noise, its worth bearing in mind. Overall, a great little getaway!

The welcome pack was full of useful info and the extra touches for our dogs and us were much appreciated. The enclosed garden was perfect for the pups and the hot tub was just the cherry on top.
