We had an absolutely lovely stay! The owners are genuinely warm and helpful, making us feel really welcome. The cottage itself is charming with its traditional half-timbered style and it’s super cosy inside. The shower is powerful and the bed was so comfy we didn’t want to get up. Parking right next to the cottage is a real bonus and the place is spotlessly clean. Perfect base for exploring Thaxted and the surrounding fields-definitely recommend!

We had a fantastic time here! The place is super well-equipped, making it really comfortable for our stay. It’s a short drive to places like Gibraltar Point, Mablethorpe and Anderby Creek, which was perfect for day trips. After a long walk, relaxing in the hot tub was just what we needed. There are a couple of pubs nearby, but you’d need to drive or cycle since there's no footpath all the way. We loved it and will be booking again!

The cottage was really lovely and perfect for a peaceful getaway. Just a heads up, there are some night flights from Stanstead, but the hot tub made up for it! Great stay.

Wow, what a find! We booked this place without seeing any photos inside, just hoping for the best and it really paid off. The inside was absolutely lovely-spotlessly clean and newly refurbished, you could tell they put a lot of thought into it. There are two double bedrooms with en-suites, plus a third bedroom with bunk beds (bottom bunk’s a small double, top’s a single) and a separate bathroom just for that room, which was handy. The real wow factor was the kitchen-it’s huge, super modern and really well-equipped, with plenty of space to cook and hang out. The island seats four and the open-plan living area was massive, with three comfy sofas and a big flatscreen TV. Bifold doors opened onto the patio, stretching the length of the room, which was lovely for sitting outside. There was also a separate dining and living room with a table for six, two sofas and another large TV-great if you want two separate chill zones. We were a family of six, with two other families and everyone loved it. It’s only about ten minutes to the seaside and local shops and less than half an hour to Skegness or Ingoldmells if you fancy the busier spots. We’re already planning to come back. I was tempted to leave a bad review to keep it quiet, but I couldn’t bring myself to lie-honestly, it’s a brilliant place!

We had a really lovely stay at this place. The setting is stunning and private, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The owners were super friendly and always willing to help if we needed anything, but it still felt peaceful and secluded. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day cycling - absolute bliss! Only thing is, the cottage is directly under Stansted's flight path, so there's quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but honestly, it didn’t ruin our holiday at all. Definitely recommend!

The place has everything you need for a relaxing break. The location is perfect, in a lovely part of Essex. We definitely recommend exploring Thaxted and the nearby villages-they're full of charm and history. Definitely a place to return to!
