We’ve just spent another wonderful two week family break staying at the beautiful, peaceful Chestnut Lodge. Highly recommend and already looking returning again next year.

A very nice lodge that went beyond our expectations, it was very peaceful although some might find it a bit isolated as they are still in process of renovating the site, but for us it was perfect and suited our autistic grandson who loved it

Beautiful Lodge, amazing welcome pack. Great communication from the owners. All the little touches like local info, soap, washing up liquid etc that are often not included at other lodges.

We stayed in Cherry Lodge, with a hot tub. My husband needed an accessible bathroom..it was lovely. He used the ramp entry into the lodge easily we felt very relaxed. My granddaughter, two and a half, loved the playground. It is a resort still in development, but we were not disturbed by building noise at all. Haystax close proximity to Gateshead made visiting our son easy. We went to Beamish living museum, that was amazing..and it's also close by. Lorna gave us careful check in instructions and left a lovely hamper..thankyou.

We went to Stoneycroft cottage Consett from 20th June to 23rd June , 6 adults , we experienced the most stunning cottage with all the amenities you could wish to have , from the welcome basket to the accommodation. the Owners Lorna & Ian were so friendly and made us all so welcome, This is such a Beautiful cottage , it was so good we have booked again to return in 12 months. 5 stars all the way and more , Peter , Terry , Carl , Ann , Karen & Fran we thankyou sincerely **

Everything you could possibly need!

We had a fantastic week here from 15 to 22 July with our two little dachshunds. They loved exploring the village of Thaxted and made plenty of furry friends. The cottage itself is really charming and the hot tub was such a treat-especially during the scorching weather! It was great to see the hosts being so welcoming and attentive; we enjoyed watching the planes land since it’s near Stansted’s flight path. Overall, a lovely stay and we’d definitely recommend Hide if you’re after a relaxing break with your pets.

Really enjoyed our visit, the setting was beautiful and walking with the dogs was perfect fun!

The high-standard amenities (washing machine with dryer, separate fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and even a vacuum cleaner!) made our stay effortless. The quality of the furniture, crockery, and cutlery was outstanding, and the provision of toiletries—including handy extras like ear buds—showed remarkable attention to detail. We especially loved the separate towels for the bath and hot tub. Our goal was a relaxing family getaway, and Cherry Lodge delivered perfectly. We had a lovely stay at this charming spot tucked away in a peaceful, private area. The owners were super friendly and always on hand if we needed anything, but it still felt private enough to relax completely. The hot tub was a real highlight after long days out cycling. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the cottage is right under Stansted’s flight path, so there’s quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but honestly, it didn’t ruin our trip at all. We’d definitely come back!

We had a fantastic stay at this cosy little cottage! Honestly, we didn’t need to bring much because it’s so well equipped - I even overloaded the car thinking we’d need more. The welcome pack was a real bonus, full of helpful info and menus, which made things so easy. The owners, Sharon and Rob, were quick to respond whenever we had questions. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was just perfect for relaxing after a busy day. Thanks for a lovely break, we’d definitely come back!

We had a great stay at Stoneycroft Cottage as a group of 6 friends. The cottage was well presented and clean on arrival. We particularly liked the extra touches of a welcome basket, animal feed, hot tub towels etc. 3 ensuite bedrooms was perfect for a group like us and beds were comfy. The kitchen was well appointed. The owner communicated well.

We stayed in this lovely, well-kept house and honestly, it was perfect for a cosy winter break. The place was warm and inviting, especially on that rainy December day. The bath was just the right size and the shower was great too. Being near a flight path didn’t bother us at all and it’s a fantastic spot if your dogs hate fireworks - so peaceful! Thanks a lot!

We had a fantastic weekend at this cottage! The welcome basket was a lovely surprise and the bed was honestly the most comfy we’ve ever slept in away from home. The host was really friendly and gave us all the info we needed. Plus, feeding the alpacas and cattle was such a treat. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely time staying here! Sharon and Robert really went out of their way to make us feel at home, which was much appreciated. The place was spotlessly clean, comfy and perfect for our dog Archie - he loved it! The location was spot on with lots of scenic walks and we enjoyed exploring Thaxted and nearby villages. Honestly, we left feeling totally recharged and relaxed. Would definitely recommend!

We just got back from a four-night stay at this cosy cottage and we had a really great time. The owners were super friendly and helpful, but they didn’t bother us at all, which was perfect. The garden was big and fully fenced, so our dog could roam freely without worries. The place had everything we needed, including a barbecue for one evening. And the hot tub? Absolutely brilliant! We’re already planning to come back and have recommended it to friends-thanks for a lovely stay!

The garden was perfect for the dogs and they were so happy, especially with the underfloor heating-Luna even came home with a strained tail from all the wagging! Definitely planning to return soon.
