The showers were out of order and the hot tub was pretty grimy inside.

Really enjoyed the stay

Relaxing stay overall, but the lodge definitely needs a refresh. It felt quite outdated compared to others we've been to.

We recently enjoyed a lovely midweek break with our family of six-two adults and four kids aged 10 to 15. The lodge might be a little on the older side, but it has everything we needed and was super comfy. Nights were incredibly peaceful and I honestly had one of the best sleeps in ages. Towels and bedding were all sorted, which is always a plus and the hot tub was spotlessly maintained, adding a real touch of luxury to our stay. Be aware, it’s about a 20-25 minute drive to local shops and attractions, but honestly, the scenic drive and Roman sites we visited each day made it totally worth it. We’d definitely go back!

We decided to do a spontaneous trip to Peel Lodge and honestly, it turned out really well. The place was spotless and surprisingly spacious, with all the basics covered. The hot tub was definitely a highlight, perfect for relaxing after a day out. The park was peaceful, just what we needed, with gorgeous scenery all around. There’s a small village about ten minutes away with a Co-op, so grabbing bread and milk was easy. The clubhouse was a nice touch too - bar, TV, pool table - and Marie & Michael were lovely, always happy to help with any questions. It’s a cashless bar, but no hassle at all, they sorted us out quickly. We met lots of friendly owners on site, everyone was super welcoming. We’re already planning to return soon - can’t wait!

We decided to book the Cupola Lodge last minute since we were taking our puppy on his first holiday. The location is perfect if you’re after a quiet escape-loads of space and the staff were genuinely friendly. The lodge itself was quite spacious and mostly clean, apart from the kitchen area which was a bit of a letdown. The frying pan and spatula looked like they'd been cleaned with cold water and no washing up liquid, as the fat was still beaded on them-definitely needed a proper wash before use. The mismatched plates and cutlery, with three different types of knives and random scissors, didn’t help either; it was more of an aesthetic annoyance, but practical issues popped up too. The bread knife was blunt and one "sharp" knife had a broken tip, which was a bit frustrating. Self-catering was a bit tricky because the toilet seat was missing front bumpers and one of the hinges on the decking gate was broken. On our last night, my son dislodged some of the build-up from the hot tub filter grill. We’re used to cleaning hot tubs at home, but this one hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned-there was quite a build-up and some matted hairs, which was a bit gross. It’s a shame because with some proper attention, this place could be really great. Still, overall, a decent stay!

Honestly, the place was really disappointing. Walls and skirting boards were marked, doors looked tired and dusty. The pots and pans weren’t very clean either-definitely not what we expected. Wouldn’t stay again.

The lodge was pretty nice overall. We appreciated the peaceful vibe and friendly staff. The outside could use some minor fixes, but nothing major. A good little getaway, would come again!

Really cosy and relaxing stay

We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, it was quite lovely. The place was spacious, spotless and had everything we needed. We appreciated the ample storage - a rare find! Only minor thing was a lack of outside plastic glasses, but no biggy. Our hairy dog loved it too. We’d definitely come back, it’s a solid spot!

We noticed the lodge was much cleaner this time around, which was great. The main bathroom shower pressure, however, remains quite low. Still, enjoyable stay!

Great spot, definitely worth a visit

The lodge was fantastic, honestly! The hot tub was spotless and the kitchen was really well-kept, which we appreciated. The space was huge, with two bedrooms, a study and a walk-in wardrobe - plenty of room for everything. Only minor thing was a wobbly table leg in the living room, but it didn’t bother us at all. We’d definitely come back!

We really enjoyed wandering along Hadrian's Wall, which was so close by. The staff were genuinely lovely too!

The furniture's a bit worn, but it does the job. The surroundings are stunning and super calming.

We recently stayed at these lodges and honestly, it’s a lovely spot if you're after peace and quiet. The setting is just stunning - tucked away in a secluded valley with a pretty wooded area and a shallow, fast-flowing river running nearby. The Cupola Lodge itself was spotless, super cosy and really well equipped - it had everything we needed. The hot tub was a real highlight, always perfectly maintained, which made relaxing even easier. The manager was so friendly and welcoming when we arrived, which made us feel right at home. If a calm, comfy getaway sounds good, this place is definitely worth considering!

We’ve stayed at Peel Lodge twice now and honestly, it’s just lovely. The place is spotless, really warm and feels super cosy. It’s tucked away in a quiet valley, away from the busy roads, which makes for a peaceful escape. Plenty of space for our family of four, with a bathroom and an ensuite in the double room - very handy! The hot tub is a real treat, especially at night when you can stargaze. Oh and the ducks at the door in the mornings? So cute! Would definitely come back.

We've just come back from our third visit to Parmontley and it was another great weekend! The place is stunning as always, super clean and the scenery is just breathtaking. The staff are friendly and really helpful. We usually stay in Peel Lodge, but for six of us, Staward was perfect-cozy and a bit more lived in. Can’t wait for next year!

In a beautiful location. Lodge excellent. No extra facilities ie shop or clubhouse. Very quiet. Great if you want peace and quiet. Nearest pub 2 mile walk. Menu not to our liking but that’s personal choice. Overall got value for money contactless check in superb. Manager always answered phone when rung

A lovely lodge on a secluded site by the River Allen. Only 10 lodges on site at the moment, in a field designed for 40 so lots of space. Some facilities on the adjacent caravan park across the river.Local walks restricted by steepness of terrain, but lots of wildlife to observe.

Lovely quiet location made for a relaxing stay

Lovely peaceful and scenic place surrounded by rare ancient woodlands. Very helpful staff and the permanent caravan crowd are so welcoming. We even got invited to a weeding party in the clubhouse on the second night.

We had a lovely time away. Re visiting places my husband spent a lot of time as a child. Lovely walks and quaint near by villages to visit.

Lovely location, clean lodge, secluded and quiet. Lovely owner and very helpful. Dark skies great for telescope and accessible to Hadrian's Wall. Would highly recommend.

Peace and quiet. In the middle of nowhere. Had to walk to the pub though the woods nice walk not to be done at night. Nearest shops are about 9 miles away.There was only two lodges occupied while we were there. Staff really helpful and nice. Lodge had everything in it that you could want.
