Wildwood is a woodland discovery park on the A291 between Herne Bay and Canterbury. Its 40 acres sit within the larger West Blean woods and are home to around fifty native British species. It is run as a conservation charity, and the trust has been involved in bringing European bison back to Blean Woods.
Tip: Parking is free, but space for coaches and minibuses is limited in peak seasons. Dogs, including guide dogs, are not allowed.

Dover Castle crowns the white cliffs above the Channel and has been called the "Key to England" because of its defensive importance through the centuries. It is Grade I listed and has a history stretching back some 2,000 years, with a Roman lighthouse still standing in the grounds.

A Grade I listed underground passage in Margate, covered in millions of shells with an unsolved past.
The Shell Grotto is an underground passageway in Margate, dug out of chalk and decorated almost from top to bottom with shell mosaics. Around 4.6 million shells cover roughly 2,000 square feet of wall and roof. A winding passage leads down to a rotunda and on to a rectangular altar chamber, with a shaft that lets in a little daylight.
Tip: There is no car park at the grotto. Try the surrounding residential roads, or the Trinity Square pay and display car park (CT9 1QY). It has no step-free access, and large bags must be left at reception.

St Augustine's Abbey in Canterbury was a Benedictine monastery, founded in 598 by St Augustine after he arrived to convert the Anglo-Saxons. It was the burial place of early Kentish kings and archbishops, and it ran for nearly a thousand years until its dissolution in 1538. Today the preserved ruins show how the site grew from a Saxon foundation into a grand Norman monastery.

Comfortable, friendly, great location
Really enjoyed our visit, can't wait to come back!
We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, it was a lovely place to unwind. The decor was classy and everything was super clean, which made us feel really comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked with all we needed, which was perfect. The sofas and mattresses were comfy too. The only downside was not being able to watch DVDs or access our streaming services, which my teens missed. On the bright side, the WiFi was excellent and kept everyone happy!

Really enjoyed the trip overall
We stayed at this park recently and honestly, the quality of the accommodation really stood out. Its quite convenient if youre heading to that part of Kent - about 15 minutes to Canterbury and between 30 to 50 minutes to some lovely beaches, which is perfect for a day out. The location is peaceful, nestled among farm fields, so if youre after a lively village scene, this isnt it. Sadly, there are no walking or running routes nearby, so youll definitely need to drive everywhere - no options for a quick stroll or jog. We noticed quite a few folks expecting to find somewhere to walk or grab a snack within walking distance, but its pretty much drive-only. No pubs, shops, or even a corner shop nearby, so a car is pretty much essential for everything. Still, the quality of the place makes up for it!
Even with a few tiny issues, wed happily come back again for sure.
We stayed at this lodge recently and really enjoyed it. The location is great, just a quick 10-minute drive into Canterbury and not far from Whitstable either. Our only gripe was the terrace being pretty shaded most of the time and those pesky wasps. Wouldve loved to sit outside more-still, a lovely place overall!

We had a lovely holiday overall, but the lodge was a bit too hot for our liking. After a day out, wed have to open all the doors and draw the blinds to cool down. A few fans wouldve made things much more comfortable! Definitely still enjoyed it though.

We had a lovely time staying here. The lodges are really spacious and well-equipped, perfect for relaxing. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made a big difference. You definitely need a car to get around, but its a great spot if you want peace and quiet. Good base for exploring Ramsgate, Margate, Canterbury and beyond. Would recommend!

We recently stayed here and honestly, the peace and quiet was such a breath of fresh air compared to the hustle and bustle of Canterbury. Its perfect if you're after some relaxation but still want the option to explore a town rich in history. The lodges are super comfy and you can choose how much you want to interact with the staff - no pressure at all. Check-in at 4pm felt a bit late, especially since we arrived earlier, but I guess they need time to get everything ready and they did a great job cleaning each lodge thoroughly. The only thing I missed was a wok in the kitchen; the hob had a wok ring, but no wok itself. As someone who loves cooking and often plans themed dinners, it would've been handy, especially for Chinese night. Overall, a lovely spot with just a small tweak needed for food prep. Wed definitely come back!

Overall, we found the lodge to be quite cosy and clean, even if it wasnt as modern as some others we've stayed in. A few small touches, like descaling the kettle, would make it perfect. Still, we enjoyed our stay!

Fantastic lodge spacious, modern and clean. The site is well cared for and well thought out.
Our lodge was for two people so cutlery was at a minimum only 2 teaspoons and knifes and forks too few as if you want to use the dishwasher you have to keep washing up as well.
Otherwise great, we would visit again.

Only downfall we stayed in the lodge during a heatwave (which is out of there hands) which made the lodge very hot and no aircon

Sherrie was an absolute star. We were there for a family wedding, bride let from Canterbury Lodge. Had 5 lodges so lots of us but nothing too much trouble for Sherrie. Certainly would return
