Great time

You can’t take your dogs into show bar or restaurant, and can’t leave them in the caravans even if well behaved or elderly dogs that just sleep in doors, don’t understand why they say dog friendly when limited where they can go must pubs that serve food allow dogs in.

Great little caravan little to far to walk for our dad who’s 89 but all in all a great stay food was a bit pricey in restaurant

not much room in main bedroom for travel cot kitchen well equipped stains on sofa could do with a mop and bucket to,wash floor as we had a baby who was crawling also could do with hoover as could clean crumbs from carpet bathroom ok for the price we paid ok

The caravan was spacious it was very clean had everything that we needed the beds and seating area was very comfortable and the shower was amazing

Caravan was really nice and clean with all mod cons and beds were really comfy and bedding was all clean and fresh.

The holiday was amazing for the kids, plenty to do and the staff are lovely. Facilities were clean and well managed

Good value for money, short on utensils. Iron and board

It was so bad we only managed to stay 2 nights out of 4. Had no choice but to go home early. Mould growing up the walls, dirty and the smell of the caravan was overwhelming. Simply a health and safety hazard. Staff were not interested in helping. Management didn't care less- they hid away. We were told they could not move us as they were full and when we suggested sourcing alternative accommodation we were told we could not use the facilities if we did this. They simply didn't care and patronisingly informed us that we were in 'pet friendly accommodation'. This was just used to try and justify the state of the accommodation. Paying extra for pets is, in my opinion, a con! That extra charge is to compensate for animals being in the accommodation and for them to carry out extra cleaning but this clearly does not happen. In addition to this madness, dogs are not allowed in the restaurant/bar but they also state you can't leave your dog alone in the caravan so we found we could not eat in the restaurant as pets were not allowed but we couldn't leave our pet in the caravan to eat, so unless we sat outside in the rain there was no where for us to eat, as there was no way on this planet we could have eaten in that dirty caravan. In the end we had to travel 20-30 minutes to find dog friendly places to eat. The outside areas were dirty too! Would never return and have already warned family and friends of this place. The place is a genuine health and safety concern.

Fantastic lodge.Fantastic location.Could not fault anything.Will definitely be back.Well manicured grassed areas using professional grass machinery leaving the areas with attention to detail.Very courteous and friendly staff from the receptionist to the maintenance engineer. Cannot wait to return.

Wonderful ty

Very comfortable, clean and lots of space.The en-suite with the main bedroom was a lovely extra.Had everything we needed and more.

Clean all we needed

We stayed in the 8 berth luxury caravan and it was really well equipped. The rooms were spacious and having two toilets was a bonus. The shower worked perfectly with hot water for everyone. Overall, great value for money!

decking made all the difference

We loved this cosy cottage - perfect for some quiet time but still close enough to town for essentials. The hot tub was a real highlight and the underfloor heating kept everything super comfy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome. Already planning our return!

We were a group of eight and honestly, we all had an awesome time!

We needed a peaceful getaway for the dog and it was spot on. The place was comfy, loads of lovely pubs and eateries within walking distance, plus endless fields for walks. The dog didn’t want to leave!

Our first stay at Sands Le Mere was lovely! The staff genuinely go above and beyond to make your holiday special, which we really appreciated. There’s plenty to keep you busy during the day and evening, so we’re already planning our return!

We really enjoyed our stay at Goddard Mead. The cottage had everything we needed and the walks right from the doorstep were lovely. The hosts were incredibly warm and friendly, making us feel right at home!

We had such a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob & Sharon really put a lot of effort into preserving the charm of the historic building and their warm welcome made us feel right at home. Bonnie was adorable too! The location is perfect for exploring Essex’s beautiful villages like Thaxted, which is well worth a wander. If you're after a cosy spot with character, this place ticks all the boxes. Highly recommend!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and were genuinely impressed. The owners, Rob & Sharon, put so much effort into preserving the charm of this historic building and it shows. They greeted us warmly along with Bonnie, which made us feel right at home. The location is perfect for exploring Essex; we loved wandering around Thaxted and other nearby villages, soaking up the history and adorable sights. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway!

Honestly, we had such a lovely time. The place was really well thought out and comfortable. The hosts were super friendly and always ready to help. Definitely planning to come back, it was just perfect!

The site might be a bit remote for some but we loved it and it's a nice walk along the beach to withernsea
