We had a lovely break at Upton Lakes The site is well maintained and peaceful Our lodge was at a fantastic standard and well maintained Although we stayed in a pet friendly lodge you wouldn’t have known as there were no obvious signs or smells We were disappointed that we had not received a welcome pack prior to arrival with information about accessing our lodge and that on arrival there was no one at reception ( would recommend that if you haven’t had an email regarding check in you contact Hoseasons as there was no number to contact onsite)On our second attempt to check in a off duty member of staff helped us get into our booked lodge We had a little issue with our boiler however this was dealt with very quickly and efficiently The only other disappointment was our hot tub was not at a ‘hot temperature’ and had very little jet pressure and 1/4 was not working at all Unfortunately the onsite staff were unable to assist as access was locked by the owner Overall a good experience with a few minor issues Would happily return with the hope that the hot tub would be fixed and at an appropriate temperature

We stayed in lodge 4 during new year. We booked before reading the reviews and was then a bit concerned with so many negative ones what the lodge would be like however we had the best time, the lodge exceeded expectations, it was clean, big and had everything we needed for our stay. Despite it raining the whole time we were never bored. Very close to near by food shops. The hot tub was lovely (although we did wonder if the water had been cleaned from the previous users however it didn’t stop us from using it). Would recommend staying there and hope to one day return and stay back in lodge 4 specifically.

Was looking forward to a well deserved break, chilling in the (hot tub ????????????) that's what they called it, I've been staying in lodge's with hot tub for a number of years, even on this site, AND THAT'S NO HOT TUB BABE , IT'S A GLORIFIED BATH OUT SIDE, Very disappointed, and felt fobbed of, so won't be going bac

The Good bits: Upton Lakes and lodges is in a fairly quiet and peaceful location and the surrounding lakes and wildlife makes its a relaxing stay. The lodge is spacious and well equipped with everything you could want' beds are relatively comfortable, so a good night's sleep should be guaranteed. The BAD bits: The outside lights don't work (at the main door), so tripping up WILL happen as it's extremely dark here at night with no other external lights. The decking all around the lodge is ROTTEN and with a large hole near the hot tub (that you can barely see without a working light) makes it DANGEROUS at night. The rails around the lodge are loose and also rotten and feel VERY unsafe to the point where if a child was to lean on it I'm sure it would collapse, meaning they'd fall off the edge down to the lake !!!. This was our 2nd time here (and our last). It was nowhere near worth the price I paid, it has become very run down and neglected. After my 1st visit I thought my family would love it here, but it was definitely VERY much in need of some repairs and maintenance and we were all somewhat disappointed with lack of safety around the lodge. The HUGE hornets were also EVERYWHERE (probably due to the us going on the hottest days this year, but they were most of the time harmless. Would I come back here? NO WAY.....not in THAT condition for THAT price.

The lodge itself is in a lovely location - however for the money the inside is very poor and is in need for some TLC - Only a TV in the lounge with one set of controls which don’t belong to the TV ???? the microwave handle was hanging off the selves in the fridge collapse when you put anything on the top shelf - the outside light doesn’t work which makes it pitch black going outside - hot tub lid broken in half with lots of debris floating in the water - whether this is due to the end of a summer season I’m not sure - the bonus’s were that is was clean and spacious and a. Nice quiet location just needs a little update

Lodge was fantastic, clean, tidy with all mod cons. Sadly due to the weather unable to use the BBQ and hot tub but interior was very comfortable and we would recommend this lodge to everyone, certainly consider a return visit. Two good size bedrooms both en-suite, we had an elderly relative with us, she found it very pleasant and enjoyed seeing the wildlife on the lake.

The heating was not working when we arrived but the estate manager sorted it out. The washing machine leaked. The hot tub was a big hit with our 11 year old as was the sauna with us although the bucket was broken. The bbq looked very sad, we did not use it.

Great lodge, fab scenery.

Local to many beaches/places of interest.

Despite COVID restrictions, had a lovely time and felt very safe and comfortable in our surroundings. Felt that lodge and contents had been cleaned thoroughly.

Highly recommend :)

Beautiful lodge, hot tub BBQ and terrace, we had wonderful relaxing stay. Could do with a mirror where you can dry your hair in the lodge somewhere. Excellent quality of fittings and comfort, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The lodge was very spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed for a self catering holiday, the hot tub was huge and enjoyed by all and the beds were very comfortable.

Only thing to add was the shower in the bath room (not the en-suite) has the wrong fitting for the shower head so we had to hold the head whilst showering the kids.

Lovely location and lovely lodge but needing just a little bit of tlc, nothing at all to spoil our stay though. Loved the huge decking and bbq, the hot tub was just perfect to relax in under the stars.

We arrived on Sunday afternoon after a 6 hour drive but there was no one about rang the number provided and was seen to within minuets . In the lodge and sorted within 10 minuets and having a well deserved cup of tea . The Lodge was very comfortable as I am larger than most reading a review about the beds I thought the worst but as I say everything nice and comfortable and easy to use . The only thing is there is no WIFI and the phone signal is poor but that can be a big bonus
Jennifer
Amazing holiday second time we have been and loved it! Great accommodation, lovely location, spotlessly clean and lovely maintenance staff
Steven
Needs a bit of work to tidy up abit loose handrails, hot tub lid broken in two light bulbs not working.
Nicola
We had the best time! Peace and quiet. Staff could not have been more helpful. Wonderful wildlife around the lodge including ducks, geese and peacocks. We were in lodge 5, this lodge allows dogs in. It was spotless! Everything you could possibly need was in the lodge. The hot tub was amazing and so restful. We will be returning next year. I highly recommend this location.
Christine
Didn’t see any staff, but we didn’t actually need too. Lodge had everything that we needed so we had a nice stay. Was ideal for the wedding we attended at Upton barn and walled garden.
Clare
Had a fantastic weekend away So peaceful and lovely lodge Great place if you want to relax with the town close by My dog loved exploring the area And the fishing lakes are fantastic Enjoyed it so much have booked again for November
Mark
Stayed in lakeside escape the lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything you need for a nice relaxing holiday. Mark the on site caretaker was very helpful and approachable. Great holiday was had and will rebook.
Jeff
Very peaceful. Nice lodge could do with a facelift but not the end of the world. Didnt use the hot tub. It looked grubby. Enjoyed the fishing. Could do with a bit of fishery management and some more info on the fishing. The folder was quite informative but again could do with updating. At the end of the folder it ask us to leave a comment in the book. Where ? Did not meet any staff hence the score on helpfulness. All said and done would recommend.
