With superb facilities, and just 10 minutes by car from the bustling town of Clacton-on-Sea, Weeley Bridge is a great family park and well positioned to explore the beautiful countryside of Essex. There's a host of things to do at Clacton - from the pier and the aquarium to bowling and kiting on the beach and Ipswich and Colchester are also within easy reach.

Weeley Bridge has an outdoor heated pool and a kids' adventure playground, as well as family entertainment, a multi-sports court and a well-stocked fishing lake. The Lakeside Tavern serves meals and snacks or you could head towards Clacton for a great choice of pubs - the Bowling Green is family friendly with an extremely reasonable kids' menu.

The Orchid is a superior 12 foot wide caravan that sleeps up to six people. It has a double room and one twin room with space for two people to sleep in the lounge area. It has a TV, a well-equipped kitchen with microwave and a bathroom with shower.

Head to Clacton Pier for thrilling fairground rides and ten pin bowling at the pavilion. The 111 steps at Naze Tower are worth tackling as the views from the top are spectacular; it also hosts regular art exhibitions by East Anglian artists.

Our Top Tip
"For a great day out, take a picnic to Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve - there are nature trails, bird hides and stunning estuary views."

Fun Days Out in Essex

Colchester Zoo

No visit to Essex is complete without a day at this popular zoo with over 250 species of animals. The enclosures are well maintained and the zoo provides a good habitat for the animals there.  The 60 acres of parkland and lakes are ideal for walking round and we are sure this day out will provide you with lasting enjoyable memories.   Some of the highlights include penguins which you can see swimming at Penguin Shores, and the elephants at Spirit of Africa.  In addition there are over 30 daily shows to attend.

Adventure Island

This attraction is actually free of charge to enter which we think is excellent.  Located on the Southend Seafront there are over 50 rides and attractions to enjoy.  For the very daring there is a 75ft roller coaster with a more than vertical drop- not for the faint hearted!  Other highlights include the Dragon's Claw, Vortex, Scorpion, Ramba Zamba and Sky Drop.  Younger children will also find plenty of more gentle rides and attractions to keep them entertained.

Great Notley Discovery Centre
A day at Great Notley Discovery Centre and Park is a fantastic way to explore the very best of Essex offering many facilities including a sensory trail, visitor centre, bistro and cycle hire centre. There are links to  over 15 miles of walking and cycling paths on the Flitch Way too. Those with young children can rent a trailer or tandem bike to make exploring fun for the whole family.

Had a 4 day break. Had a lovely time. The site was ok. As the weather hadnt been fab the grounds are wet but thats mother nature not the staffs fault!! The van was lovely it was a "poppy van" name..yr2017 . The van has central heating that was fab! 1000% better than having just a gas fire! The van was high spec. Lets move on to bar/club/food...... What i like about this site is its not big!! me and my family dont like massive loud places so this site was perfect. John and Jess the club entertainers where fantatic and friendly! The bar staff where friendly and helpful. We had eaten at the club twice and both times the food was lovely. Travel in the area and overall..... Ive read alot of reviews about this site that made me unsure to start with.. yeah it might need a bit of TLC in places but that wont stop me from going back!! trains didnt bother us as its only rush hour for a small time and then its ok. There is a shop/post office 5mins from site (keep in mind no shop on site) .Clacton (beach) its self is 13 mins by car (used nav for this info) Asda is about the same time. So you are never far from anywhere to go!! sorry i cant give info on trains or buses as didnt use this. Hope people will give these guys a try!

Used the site for along weekend as a base to explore the area so did not get much chance to use all the facilities available on site. However looking at the programme there was plenty to do for the kids. I will be returning later in the year
