Stayed in cedar one bedroom for me and my wife for a week All very good with hot tub and sauna very relaxing Bed very comfortable 4 poster

We just got back from a really nice four-night stay at this cottage. The owners are super friendly and helpful without being intrusive, which we appreciated. The garden was perfect for our dog - fully fenced and spacious. The cottage had all the essentials and was really well equipped. We even used the BBQ one evening and the hot tub was fantastic! We’re definitely coming back and already recommended it to friends. Thanks for a lovely break!

We had a brilliant stay! The lodge was super clean and comfy and we loved relaxing in the hot tub and sauna. The fire pit pizza night was a real highlight and the torch in the cabin was a nice touch. Lovely attention to detail!

A very well equipped log cabin in a peaceful and relaxing location

If you’re after a peaceful break with a hot tub and amazing views then this is the place to go. I needed a well earned quiet break away from it all.. it did not disappoint! I could have quite easily stayed longer, the added luxury touches of the sauna in the bathroom, and the hot tub on the decking just made it even more special. The lodge was beautiful, everything I wanted. The staff are so helpful and always there to answer, Sarah was amazing! Highly recommended!

We recently stayed here for some much-needed downtime and honestly, it was just what we needed. The views are stunning and the hot tub on the decking was perfect after a long day. The lodge itself was really lovely - everything we wanted and more. The little touches like the sauna in the bathroom made it feel extra special. The staff were friendly and super helpful; Sarah especially went above and beyond. We could’ve easily stayed longer, definitely a place to revisit!

We had a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob and Sharon really put a lot of effort into converting this historic place and it shows. They were super welcoming from the moment we arrived, along with Bonnie, of course. The location is perfect for exploring Essex-there’s so much to see in Thaxted and the surrounding villages. It’s a peaceful spot with all you need for a comfy, relaxing break. Highly recommend for a quiet getaway!

Really enjoyed our stay here, the hosts were lovely and the jacuzzi was a bonus! Great time.

The cottage was really cosy and perfect for a peaceful escape. The only thing was the occasional night-time plane noise from Stanstead, but the hot tub made up for it. Lovely stay!

Fabulous Arrival, all as advertised and nothing was missing, nice little touches we didn't expect like coffee, tea, biscuits etc. Cleaning products under the sink were a big advantage too Inc dishwasher tablets.The pillows are absolutely to die for, soooo comfy - all the beds too, very nice quality!!Great TV with all the apps used at home, really great and simple.Great games room for the children, includes so many things to keep them entertained.Had a few issues with noisey neighbours in another cabin while away but this was dealt with immediately by Staff/owner and even gave us free Rent of BBQ to rectify this the next day - Thank you.We would recommend a few things though -• More fly papers required for all rooms, or electric fly bat is a must.(The flys are absolutely unbearable and this is October, I'd dread to think about summer month).• More than 1 TV in whole cabin, maybe in bedroom especially when travelling with family.• Dusting of the wooden ceilings is needed, cobwebs are a problem.We absolutely will be returning again and had a flawless stay over all.Thank you **

Nice little surprises like coffee, tea and biscuits were a nice touch! The cleaning supplies under the sink, including dishwasher tablets, were super handy. The beds and pillows were incredibly comfy-definitely the highlight, honestly. The TV had all the apps we use at home, so it was really easy to settle in and relax. The games room for the kids was a big plus, with plenty to keep them entertained for hours. We did have a bit of trouble with noisy neighbours in a nearby cabin, but the staff responded quickly and even gave us free BBQ rental to make up for it, which was really thoughtful. A couple of suggestions from us-more fly papers or electric fly swats would help, especially since the flies were pretty bad even in October. Also, having another TV in the bedroom would be great for families. Lastly, a bit of dusting on the wooden ceilings and cobweb removal would make it perfect. Overall, we’d definitely come back, we had a smooth and enjoyable stay. Thanks again!

We just got back from a week at Goddards Mead and honestly, it was lovely. The cottage had everything we could ask for and the hosts were so friendly and welcoming. Despite being on a working farm, it felt surprisingly peaceful and relaxing. Definitely recommend!

The lodge had everything we needed and out of all the holidays we’ve had this was by far the cleanest. Normally we find ourselves having to give it a once over with cleaning products but not this place. Location was fantastic for us. We had no intentions of going out for days as we were quite local anyway plus we had covid so wanted 5 days to chill and the peace and quiet was lovely as well as the private hot tub which was checked on daily. The staff let you get on with it, they even provide keysafes to let yourselves in, yet they are always on hand to help if needed. Regular communication via email was sent throughout our stay just to make sure everything was perfect. There are some lively walks we went on too. Just one criticism would be there isn’t a lot to do for young children or families, they have a games room but this isn’t state or the art but if you’re looking to just relax and get away from it all then we can’t fault it. We will return and recommend 10/10

Perfect getaway, the lodge was spotless, it was peaceful and generally a fantastic break away. Only problem is very rural you have to drive to get to anything but if you just want to stay in all week then it’s perfect for you. 100% would book again!

We loved it here. Recharged our batteries. Ideal for relaxation walking and bike rides, spending time with family and friends. Loved the hot tub. Lodge was well thought out and well equipped and dog friendly too! Tiggy and Jasper the dog said we will return!!!

Perfect location (would have been amazing if the hedge in front of us was shorter so we could appreciate more of a view) cabin was spotless, staff happy to help, all I can say is perfect, everything you could need was there, including tea sugar milk, and ice cubes lol,
