Kevin, Peterlee
Date of stay: 24th August 2018
Great facilities and staff location is great as you head north you are in Scotland and head back south through the lake district so plenty of off site adventure to be had.
Silloth itself is a nice place with places to dine and we were lucky enough to go to the circus which was in town whilst we were there .
Julia, Newcastle
Date of stay: 24th August 2018
We had an amazing time with our children! The lodge was spacious and clean with everything that we needed for our stay. The hot tub was amazing and a great addition to our stay.
We could not get WiFi in our lodge as the equipment had not been fitted but there was free WiFi in the public areas.
The pool needed booking except on the Monday and Friday, but all you have to do is be organised!
Evening entertainment for the younger ones was fun and upbeat.
Day activities, there are free ones available and we made good use of those.
Arthur, Beith

Emma, Edinburgh
Date of stay: 13th August 2018
Really nice site, dont understand the bad reviews?? Site seems neat and well kept, Caravan was lovely, really clean and modern and we went for the cheapest option! bar was fine, ate breakfast in the restaurant once, which was tasty, few tiny little things like sticky table, and pile of dust on floor, but not really a big deal, all in all what you would expect from a caravan holiday. Would recommend, but wouldnt go back, simply because of location and nothing much in the area, but if you are happy to stay on site then is perfect.
Zeta, Flintshire
Date of stay: 11th August 2018

Date of stay: 20th July 2018
We got a bargain as a last minute deal but if paying full price I would not have been happy. The smell of inside the caravan was disgusting, I hav a dog whom we didnt take but the smell of wet dog was very strong. Also the caravan was completely covered with seagull droppings, outside is more explainable than one on the inside door is not !!

Date of stay: 16th February 2018
After reading the reviews we where a little bit worried about the site but we had a fantastic week.
The caravan was modern and clean with room to park next to it. Entertainment was fantastic with lots for the kids to do. Very close to the beach great location. Pool wasn't open but we where told the before booking. We did have a leak in the bathroom but he staff where helpful and it was fixed immediately. Only criticism would be the roads around the site could do with being re surfaced which wasn't too good in the heavy rain and snow.

Date of stay: 16th May 2016
Only downside was that our chalet was shaded by trees , which meant hot tub was never in the sun.
It seemed that number 2 was the only one covered by trees on the whole site , if our stay was longer than 3 nights we would have asked to be moved as I'm sure the staff would have accommodated us due to being a quiet weekend x

Date of stay: 18th September 2015
Paying for electric was a hassle & no free wi-fi a bit odd!
Gill, Sheffield
Date of stay: 14th September 2015
Very spacious, warm, comfortable bed - no problems. the hot tub was wonderful and private being inside a gated fenced area. It got to a good temperature and seemed to stay hot for a long time.

A couple of things that would improve things - a light outside for the hot tub would be nice - we bought a couple of those battery led ones as it got very dark getting in and out in the dark - maybe a couple of chairs outside too?

We didnt like the electric meter - please add the cost of the electric to the overall bill as its a faff having to make sure you've got enough pound coins - I dont seem to have been given a choice of prepaying for this. I dont mind the cost as the hot tub lodge was really cheap but please make it more convenient for your guests.

Date of stay: 17th August 2015
The lodge was great. Constructive criticism would be to add hooks to back of bedroom doors and bathroom door for towels, dressing gowns etc and also more coat hangers on wardrobes!
Katherine, Kent
Date of stay: 14th August 2015
The chalet was clean and comfortable and the hot tub was fabulous. A little bit of TLC was needed in places, but nothing to spoil the holiday.

Date of stay: 1st August 2015
The caravan was excellent as were the staff.
We felt there could have been more facilities at the site and a greater variety of food on offer as it was quite a distance to the nearest pub or restaurant.
We wouldn't return purely as we travelled a long distance and the weather was awful. But beautiful scenery nearby if you could see it through the rain!

This Chalet was newly renovated and was very comfortable and clean. We were a sharing with the grandparents and everyone had their own room and lots of storage space. A big bonus was the fridge/freezer. The location of the chalet is also great, as it is right next to the office, pool and other amenities. The train to the zoo was lovely, great for kids under 10. The beach was at the front and great if you like fishing. There was space for a hot tub, so it would have been nice to have one.

Date of stay: 16th March 2015
Did what it was meant to do, small but I wasn't expecting Buckingham Palace. Only downside that I found was that the electric meter if you had the water heater on is set to guzzle pound coins - top tip just go for a swim and use the showers there rather than feeding the meter - on normal heating and lighting it wasn't too bad.

fridge was wonky and tin opener not working- the staff on the reception where very good and gave us a voucher to get a hot drink and drink for our child- would of preferred though the caravan ready on time. Everything else was great- we last visited about 6 years ago and really enjoyed the farm & swimming pool. Many thanks. Shame the caravan was straight facing the bins.

Date of stay: 31st October 2014
The chalets are lovely although the furniture leaves a bit to be desired. I have bruises on my knees from bumping into the wooden bed frames and the lounge furniture consisted of abed setee which does not make for a comfy sofa and wicker furniture which is really designed for a conservatory. Also, in one of the rooms, the cupboard door wouldn't close because of the bed frame, and all the bedroom wardrobe doors and drawers stick or don't close.

We had a great weekend break at the Solway Holiday Village. The accommodation was excellent - nothing to fault at all. The children loved the play area and playing football in the all weather sports area. The swimming pool is fairly basic i.e. no slides or flumes but it was fine for us, clean pool and clean changing facilities. The only criticisn here is that the life guard kept disappearing and seemed to be doing two jobs at once. This is something the park really needs to address for the sake of safety. I would recommend that if you take children swimming just be vigilent yourself. The evening entertainment was good. The children especially liked joining in the competitions and dancing games. There's also a land train, a farm to visit and an indoor play area but we did not have time to use these facilities as the weather was so good while we were there that we spent most of our time playing outdoors, visiting the lovely town of Silloth and enjoying the local beach. A big plus for us was that Solway Holiday Village, the local people and the places we visited were all very dog friendly. Overall, I would reccommend Solway Holiday Village and I would say that you should not be put off by negative reviews as we felt apprehensive before we arrived but our worries were unfounded.
Emma, Egremont
Date of stay: 1st September 2014
The chalet was dated but it was immaculate. All beds were comfy, clean and bedding was well provided. The kitchen had all the basics you would need for a break away and the living/ diner was a large space with plenty of room for the children to play.

Date of stay: 15th August 2014
An enjoyable holiday on a pleasant site with lots of facilities, and variety at night, with a bistro, pub and entertainment bar. The pool needs more showers, but otherwise everything was fine. Silloth is also a pretty little town geared up for day-trippers.
Sylvia, Manchester
Date of stay: 15th August 2014

Jayne, Middlesbrough
Date of stay: 11th August 2014
Caravan old but very clean and comfy. Site tired needs update. facilities average . Not much choice of food and shop pathetic. Silloth like goin back to 60's. What little there is of town shuts down by 8! Would recommend for quiet family holiday but dont expect too much. Staff v friendly and helpful tho.
Gareth, Preston

Date of stay: 8th August 2014
The family loved the chalet
Byron, Essex
Date of stay: 8th August 2014
Disappointed with the park nothing to do the worst is the pool , you can only used the pool in 1 hr and you have to book your slot.
Emma, Caernarfon
Date of stay: 8th August 2014
The outer buildings, parts of the site and play park (although well equipped and the kids loved it!) were run down and need of urgent repair/refurbishment. However everywhere (grass, paths, venues, toilets) was extremely clean and obviously regularly tended to.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, service second to none.

The only reasons couldn't give 10/10 value for money was we paid the same amount as the bigger parks with more on-site facilities and they have unlimited use of the pool. We were really disappointed that we couldn't just go for a swim as and when we felt like.

That said we really enjoyed our stay and would come again.
Ella, St Helens
Date of stay: 8th August 2014
We went for four nights in August, last minute booked. We had a great time, however the swimming pool session was to short. The children loved the play area, tennis court and the farm. There was a very good location to the beach and we all enjoyed walking to see the dolphins. Very recommended, we will defenitly go back.

Dorothy, Carlisle
Date of stay: 21st July 2014
The complex itself could do with a bit of tidying up e.g. weeds etc. What a shame that the lovely fountain site consisted of dirty water, weeds and even a rusty old bike lying in what could have really been a good water feature and garden. A good lick of paint here and there would really enhance what is a really good holiday centre.
Sally, Newton Stewart
Date of stay: 19th July 2014
Lovely Chalet, very clean, all facilities would have expected, if I had to find fault, the bed linen had seen better days, but otherwise, couldnt fault it.
Wilma, Dalkeith
Date of stay: 12th July 2014
The chalet was generally clean and tidy. The furniture was in good order though the suite (couches and chair) were more for a conservatory in our chalet but chalet next door had furniture you would have in your home. Nonetheless it was comfortable. The fridge was old and broken but it was replaced within an hour of us raising the matter with staff.

Not sure that it was an Orlando caravan but was adequate. We did not have enough plates to suit party size, took a second request to sort it by our third day. All adult Irish bar never opened even though queues at the bar good Friday took 9 mins for most of the evening. Made worse by children using the bars not allowed at other sites. Still enjoyed our holiday staff all friendly some still learning but all did their best. Silloth a nice relaxing place. Will not rush to return.

This was a better chalet than the others on offer ( I have tried various others at this site as I like the hot tubs) however this could not be discribed as luxurious. It is clean and comfortable

Fun Days Out near Solway Holiday Village

about 14 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
about 14 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.

This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
about 22 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
about 28 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
about 33 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
about 35 Miles

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
