Nice lodge overall, but a bit more storage would make it perfect.

Really disappointed, the lodge was way too small for six.

We had a lovely time staying in the Star Gazer! The swing chair was definitely our favourite spot to relax. A little privacy for the hot tub would’ve been nice though, as it’s pretty open. Also, the steps are a bit dodgy - could do with some fixing. Oh and fairy lights outside would really add a cosy touch. Overall, we’d happily return - the staff were really lovely too!

We had such a lovely stay! The lodge was super cosy and beautifully kept, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. The hot tub was a real treat and it was nice knowing it was maintained daily. The location was peaceful but still close enough to shops. Definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway!

The lodge was charming but quite cramped for our family of five. Storage was minimal, making it a bit tricky to keep everything organised during our stay.
Charlotte
We loved this cosy cottage! The hot tub and log burner made it extra special. Hosts were lovely and it’s so peaceful here. Hope to come back soon!

We stayed at this lovely place during a rainy December and it was perfect. The house is super well equipped and really cosy, which was much appreciated. The bath was fantastic and the shower was a nice size. The location is peaceful, great for dogs who dislike fireworks and the fact that it’s on a flight path didn’t bother us at all. Would definitely recommend!
Oliver
We had an awesome weekend here! The place ticked all our boxes and we genuinely loved it. The dogs were totally spoiled - especially with the underfloor heating, which they adored. The garden was perfect for them to play in. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it, but she’s fine now. We’ll definitely be back!
Emma
We had such a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob and Sharon really put a lot of care into transforming this historic building and it shows. They gave us such a warm welcome, along with Bonnie, which made us feel right at home. The place is perfect for relaxing, with everything you need. The location is ideal too - exploring Thaxted and nearby villages is a must, so much history and charm around here!
Raj
We had a wonderful stay at this charming spot! The setting is truly peaceful and quite private, perfect for relaxing. The owners were super friendly and always ready to help if needed, but they didn't intrude on our privacy at all. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day cycling - absolute bliss! One thing to note, though, is that the cottage is directly beneath Stansted's flight path, so there's quite a bit of noise from planes. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but it didn’t ruin our holiday at all. Definitely recommend!
Sam
The cottage was a real find, tucked away on a working farm but surprisingly private. Robert and Sharon were lovely hosts, making us feel welcome from the start. The place itself is spacious and well equipped, especially the kitchen and bathroom - no complaints there! The bed was super comfy, which was much appreciated after long walks. The garden's perfect for dogs and totally secluded with nice furniture. We explored loads of nearby trails and loved having options for meals in Thaxted - The Star and The Maypole are great spots. Honestly, we’d definitely recommend it!
Emma
We really appreciated the warm welcome from the owners. They were so helpful when the storm knocked out the power. The cottage was spotless, well-equipped and cosy. Our dog loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was a bonus!
Emma
We had a lovely time at this peaceful spot. Sharon and Robert really go above and beyond to ensure everything is just right. Even though it’s our second visit, we’re already planning to come back again soon!
Emma
We had such a lovely stay! The cottage was spotless and beautifully set in a peaceful spot-perfect for unwinding. The hot tub was a real highlight and there are plenty of walks nearby. Honestly, we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend it!

We needed a break with the dog and honestly, it was just what we hoped for. The place was lovely and the location meant plenty of walks and good local pubs nearby. We didn't want to leave!
Emma
Really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was cosy and perfect for some peace and quiet. The hot tub was definitely a highlight, we loved it! Just a heads-up about the planes, mostly at night though.
Emily
We stayed at this charming cottage recently and honestly, it had everything we needed - we didn’t have to pack much at all. The owners, Sharon and Rob, were super quick to reply if we had questions. The welcome pack was full of handy info and menus, which saved us a lot of hassle. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was just the cherry on top. Little touches for both us and the pups made the stay even better. Thanks for a lovely break!
Oliver
We had a fantastic weekend here, exactly what we were after. The place was perfect and we’re already planning to return! The pups were over the moon with the underfloor heating and the garden kept them busy for ages. Luna even came back with a strained tail, but the vet said it’s just from wagging so much! Everyone was really happy.
Oliver
We really enjoyed our stay! The cottage’s peaceful setting was perfect and the hot tub was definitely a bonus. Owners were friendly but not intrusive at all.
Emma
We had a fantastic stay at this cosy cottage! The place is kept in great condition and is fully equipped, making everything easy. There are plenty of lovely walks right outside, perfect for the dogs. The host was super friendly and responsive and we loved meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig. Can’t wait to return - such great value!

We spent a week here in July with our two miniature dachshunds and honestly, it was lovely. The village of Thaxted is charming and our dogs made plenty of new friends. The cottage itself is cosy with a really nice hot tub, which was perfect given the scorching weather-cooler water felt so good. The hosts were super friendly and it was nice to see them taking their dogs out to the fields each day. Being close to Stansted’s flight path was pretty interesting too, watching the planes land. We’d definitely come back!
