With an enviable location in the midst of of the Lake District National Park, Limefitt Park will appeal to those looking for a base to explore this stunning area.  Close to both Lake Ullswater and Lake Windermere you can enjoy some fantastic days out and outdoor activities.  The park itself also has much to offer with quality caravans, an adventure playground for the little ones and a convenient shop on site.

There are some lovely local towns and villages to visit and if you enjoy outdoor activities then take advantage of the watersports and rock climbing right on the doorstep as well as some breathtaking walks. Guests can also use the amenities at the nearby White Cross Bay holiday park (just a 10 minute drive away) including indoor pool, gym, sauna and restaurant.

You can enjoy fun family days out in this region and we love the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness on Windermere.  With a recent refurbishment this attraction is well worth a visit and will appeal to families and couples alike.  If you head to Ulverston less than 10 miles from Limefitt Park you will find the Lakes Aquarium where you can see more than 30 species from eels to pike.  For a more interactive experience visit the South Lakes Wild Animal Park where you can hand feed giraffes and walk amongst wallabies.

Accommodation is a selection of caravans which provide a restful haven after a busy day.  The Limefitt Superior 2 was new in 2009 and provides a luxurious 12ft wide home with one double and one twin room.  The Limefitt Superior 3 is a similar caravan with an extra bedroom.  All of the caravans come with TV/CD/DVD and the kitchens are well equipped including microwave.

Our Top Tip
"Windermere is the place to go for world class watersports as well as many other outdoor activities."

Fun Days Out in Cumbria

Lake District Wildlife Park

Both children and adults will enjoy a day out here where you can see over 100 species of animals including Zebras and Antelope.  At set times you can go an see Birds of Prey flying displays as well as Zoo Keeper Presentations which are educational as well as fun. If the weather is not on your side then you can make the most of the indoor heated play area and modern cafe.  Located at Coalbeck Farm in Cumbria we think this is a must for families...

Ullswater Steamers

A trip to Cumbria wouldn't be complete without a cruise on the lake and what better way to do this than on an Ullswater Steamer.  Ullswater is widely regarded as the most beautiful of all of the lakes in the area.  This award winning attraction has been in business for 150 years and currently has four vessels operating Ullswater lake cruises.  A further option is to combine a lake cruise with some of the most breathtaking walks in the area.

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery

Described as the number one attraction in Carlisle this place makes a fantastic day out for all the family.  Suitable for all weathers you can take in interesting exhibitions and enjoy interactive fun.  Lookout for special events which take place at various times of year such as Easter weekend and summer holidays. Open daily all year round.

Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis
Lakeland's Wildlife Discovery Centre is the perfect place for a fun day out which is also educational. The unique centre offers visitors the chance to explore many species of exotic wildlife through interactive 'hands-on' displays. These clever displays travel through 3,000 million years of evolution from the development of life on Earth. The centre is home to some of the world's most threatened species and plays an important role in international breeding.
