We had a pretty decent stay overall. The pod was super cosy and kept us warm, especially after a day out walking. The bedding and towels were spotless, which was a relief. The bathroom was clean and functional and the kitchen served its purpose well enough. Its location was perfect for exploring Keswick and Blencathra, so we couldn't complain there. That said, a few things could be better - some crockery and cutlery were a bit dirty, so we had to wash them first. The floor was a bit gritty underfoot and storage was quite limited, just a few hangers. Also, being right next to the A66 meant it was pretty noisy at times. A little welcome pack would’ve been a nice touch too. With a bit more attention, this place could easily be four stars, but the road noise keeps it at a solid three for us.

We recently stayed in one of the glamping pods and honestly, it was a brilliant experience. The place struck a great balance between luxury and being close to nature, making it a perfect escape for us. The pod was spotless and well-designed, with all the modern bits and bobs you'd want, but still kept that cosy vibe. The comfy bed and good heating meant we were warm and snug the whole time. The outdoor space was just as lovely, with a private deck offering cracking views of the landscape-ideal for a morning brew. The location was spot on, with loads of hiking trails and scenic spots nearby, so we spent our days exploring and loved coming back to our cosy pod in the evenings. Overall, it really surpassed what we expected. Whether you're after a romantic getaway, a family adventure, or just a peaceful break from everyday chaos, this glamping spot hits the mark. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

We really enjoyed our stay! The views were stunning and the pod had all we needed for a comfy break. The only downside was the traffic noise from the A66, which can't be helped. Super easy to get to Keswick too. We’d happily come back!

We recently stayed here for our honeymoon and it was just lovely. The location was quite convenient, not too far from everything we wanted to explore. Plus, having a dog-friendly place was a real bonus - our pup had a great time too! We'd definitely come back.

We had a lovely stay here! The beds were super comfy and the place had everything we needed for a quick getaway. The bathroom was spacious and the underfloor heating made it really warm, even in February. Perfect spot to explore the lakes and those nearby pubs were a bonus. Definitely coming back!

Date of stay: 1st November 2023
We had a lovely stay and the pod was spotless and beautifully designed. The surrounding walks are stunning, perfect for a peaceful getaway. Only small gripe is the limited hanging space-maybe an under-bed storage option? Still, we’re definitely coming back, it’s a gem!
James
We had such a lovely weekend here! The place was perfect for what we needed and we really enjoyed our stay. The garden was great for the pups - Luna especially loved it and was wagging her tail non-stop, which apparently caused her a bit of strain! Definitely coming back, it’s a gem for both hoomans and pets alike.
Alex
We stayed in this cosy cottage and loved how peaceful it was, perfect for relaxing. The hot tub was a real treat and the owners were so helpful without being intrusive. Just right!
Emma
We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage! The place is really well looked after and has everything you could need. Our dog loved the nearby walks and meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig. The host was super friendly and quick to respond. Definitely planning to return - great value for money too!
Oliver
We had a lovely stay at this cottage tucked away on a working farm, which surprisingly felt very private. Robert and Sharon are such friendly hosts, making everything feel welcoming. The place itself is really spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that we didn’t want to get out of! The garden is perfect for dogs, really secluded and nicely furnished. Plenty of walks nearby and we enjoyed dining out in Thaxted - The Star and The Maypole are our favourites. Definitely recommend!
Emma
We had a lovely time! Sharon and Robert really make you feel at home, which was much appreciated. The place was spotlessly clean, cosy and felt safe for Archie, our dog. The location was perfect for exploring Thaxted and the nearby villages, which are just charming. We definitely left feeling refreshed and relaxed, so it was just what we needed. Would happily come back again!
Emily
We spent a week here in July with our two tiny dachshunds who loved every minute, especially making friends in the charming village of Thaxted. The cottage itself is lovely and the hot tub was a real highlight - perfect for cooling off during the scorching weather. The hosts were really welcoming; it was nice to see their horses being taken out daily. Being close to Stansted’s flight path was actually quite fun, watching the planes come in. All in all, we’d definitely recommend Hide for a relaxing break!
Emma
We had a fantastic stay! The cottage was spotless and had all we needed. The hot tub was definitely a highlight, so relaxing. Plenty of lovely walks nearby, perfect for unwinding. Honestly, we’d happily come back again. Highly recommend!
Emma
Really enjoyed our stay here! Perfect spot for a peaceful anniversary getaway. We’d definitely come back.

We needed a relaxing break with the dog and it was just what we hoped for. Lovely countryside walks, nearby pubs and comfy stays. The dog loved it so much, it didn’t want to leave either!
James
We had a really relaxing stay at this place. The hot tub was a big hit! The house is well kitted out and the owners are lovely. If you're after some peace and quiet, this is spot on. Highly recommend!

We just got back from a lovely week at Goddards Mead. The cottage had everything we needed and was super cosy. The hosts were really friendly and welcoming. Even on a busy farm, it felt peaceful and quiet. Definitely recommend!

Lorraine

Julian
Lovely comfortable pod with everything you need for a short break. Good base for exploring the wider area. We loved it.
Laura
Had a lovely stay here thankyou
Daniel
Great accommodation in an excellent location.
David
Good location for touring the top half of the lakes. Lovely views Road a bit noisy but you get use to it
Catherine
Perfect. Great location for exploring the Lakes. Yes, traffic noise from the A66, but not at night, just an occasional lorry. Clean, everything thought of (toilet roll, washing up liquid, soap, towels etc). If a bit chilly, just put the underfloor heating on. Super hot shower. Everything catered for. Entry is from a single track leading up to the farm, through the farm yard which is a tad bumpy, but no problem at all. I was concerned that I may meet another vehicle on the track (hopeless at reversing). I didn't luckily. I enjoyed every second of my four day stay. Thank you
Michael
A very cosy cabin ideally located for a trip up Blencathra and the surrounding hills
Onysha
Lovely place to stay. The fridge and freezer compartments were quite large, the bed was comfortable too. Although I did see a few hairs on the pillow from the last occupant. Unfortunately, the location is a little bit too close to the A66, this doesn't make it particularly noisy but more so awkward from a commuting perspective if you need to walk to the bus stop since you'd walk very close to fast passing cars. The beauty of the surroundings more than compensates and bear in mind the above would of course be very convenient for drivers. Overall the place was clean, staff were extremely helpful and friendly- the owner was really kind and picked up my friend who was a bit lost and scared of the passing cars, the complimentary cleaning products were also handy. I'd definitely book a stay there again and would highly recommend.
Michael
Lovely little pod... it was a great escape... my dog loved it too... thank you...
