Lodge was comfortable and clean. It is a cost cabin so slightly tight, but spending time outside in hot tub or al fresco meals on the decking didn’t make the inside space that much of an issue.

The lodge was lovely and clean. It was very warm inside, i had to turn the heaters off in the bedroom but left on in the lounge. The beds were really comfy and cozy. The decor was beautiful in the bedrooms. The bathroom was spacious and had lovely touches of little shampoo and shower gel bottles and a little soap plus a toilet roll which I wasn't expecting. Inside the fridge was a bottle of water and a pint of milk. There was also coffee, tea and biscuits samples, a very nice touch.I would definitely stay in this lodge again.

Best location on the site in our view, with superb views to the sea and surrounded by trees. The lodge is stylishly designed and well equipped, with the added attraction of an enormous hot tub! What's not to like?

Lovely comfortable lodge, well equipped and very clean. Loved the little touches, a pint of milk in the fridge and a coffee machine with pods for when we arrived. Some parts looked a little worn (corners of some carpets & table legs) but not obvious unless you're looking for lost little toys under beds & sofas. Hot tub was lovely.

Nice big lodge with a lovely view across the valley. Plenty of utensils etc, hot tub was a good size but in need of a lid bar to make it easier to put the lid back on and the jets could be better. All showers were good and the place was immaculate when we got there. Would Definitely stay in viken lodge again in the future

We had a lovely stay at Viken Lodge! The view over the valley was stunning and the lodge was spotlessly clean when we arrived. It’s well-equipped with all the utensils you’d need. The hot tub was a decent size, though a lid bar would’ve made handling the lid a lot easier and the jets could be a bit stronger. We’d definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our stay! The lodges are cosy and the hot tub and sauna were lovely treats. Some areas looked a bit worn out, but it didn’t ruin our trip. Comfortable beds and quality linens made it even better. Two bathrooms are definitely a plus!

We spent a week here in mid-July with our two little dachshunds and honestly, they loved every minute of it! The village of Thaxted is charming and friendly and the cottage itself is really lovely. The hot tub was such a highlight, especially during the scorching days; it was cooled just enough to be perfect and super refreshing. The hosts were warm and welcoming and it was nice to see them taking their dogs out to the fields every day. Being near Stansted’s flight path added some entertainment, watching the planes come in. We’d definitely recommend it - a great stay!

Grizedale lodge perfect views. A little tired on flooring, door frames and windows but overall good. Sofas quite low but beds comfy and well equipped kitchen. Nice little welcome pack and treats for dogs. Enjoyable stay.

We loved the stunning views at Grizedale Lodge, even if some areas like the floors and door frames look a bit worn. The sofas are a tad low, but the beds are comfy and the kitchen has everything we needed. Nice touch with the welcome pack and treats for the dogs-really made us feel at home. Overall, a lovely stay!

Date of stay: 20th November 2024
We had a lovely stay at the lodge, the views were truly stunning and it’s a great spot to relax. The only real issue was arriving to find the place freezing cold, with just one tiny radiator in the living area-it took ages to warm up! When we checked in, we were told the hot tub might not be ready until around 9pm if it was still being cleaned last and unfortunately, ours was the last one, so it was still cold at 9 and we couldn’t use it till the next morning. That was a bit of a let-down. Despite that, we’d definitely recommend it and would come back. Though, we did notice prices seem to have gone up quite a lot for 2025-bit of a shock! Still, overall a good experience.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Viken Lodge in Brockwood Hall and honestly, it was just what we needed. From the moment we pulled up, the lodge’s cosy charm and the stunning natural scenery immediately put us at ease. The place itself was spotless and beautifully decorated, striking a perfect balance between modern comfort and rustic charm. The open-plan living space was a real highlight-spacious enough to relax in but still super inviting, with big windows that offered incredible views of the woods and fells around us. The kitchen was fully kitted out, which made self-catering straightforward and the little touches like the comfy bedding and the welcome pack made us feel really looked after. The best bit? The private hot tub. Honestly, after a day out exploring, nothing beats soaking in those bubbles with the peaceful surroundings all around. It’s such a luxury! Brockwood Hall’s location is fantastic-peaceful and secluded, yet close enough to visit Lake District highlights like Coniston Water and Muncaster Castle. There are some lovely woodland walks just outside the door, perfect for a morning stroll or a bit of afternoon adventure. The staff at Brockwood Hall were brilliant-friendly, attentive and always happy to offer tips or a smile, which made a big difference. Whether you want a romantic escape, a family holiday, or just some peace and quiet in nature, Viken Lodge ticks all the boxes. It’s a perfect blend of luxury and tranquility and we’re already planning our next visit!

Date of stay: 13th November 2024
We had a fantastic stay at the lodge! It’s super cosy and spacious enough for our family of five. The hot tub was always at the perfect temperature, which was a lovely bonus. We also enjoyed some great walks nearby and the grounds are spotless and well-maintained. The only real downside was dining at Billy’s restaurant in Brockwood Hall - honestly, the food was pretty shocking. The Sunday roast lamb was mostly fat and the steaks were burnt to a crisp, tasting of charcoal. The chef wasn’t exactly friendly either and didn’t take kindly to any complaints about the food. Still, the lodge itself made up for it!

We had such a relaxing stay! The lodges were spotless and in a perfect spot, away from city chaos. Everyone was friendly and super helpful-really made our trip enjoyable. Would definitely come back!
Sharon
Had a brilliant time and the accommodation was just the right size for a family of 3 and a dog. The only downside was the lack of fridge and freezer space in the lodge. Location was fantastic, local beaches not too far away and the food at the restaurant was really Nice and the staff were nothing but helpful and friendly. Would definitely visit again :-)
Wayne
Great views around the area. Staff were always polite and helpful.
Katie
Spent a weekend here with my family, including my 20 month old little boy and 2 dogs. Slightly out of the way but a lovely drive to the beach if you want to explore. Cabins clean tidy and cosy, my little boy loved seeing the peacocks roaming. The shop on-site had all the essentials, the restaurant food was lovely and staff really friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time
Claire
Lovely big lodge with plenty of room for the family with everything you need. Friendly staff and lovely wee pub/restaurant. Only downside is could do with a better park for the children. But overall had a lovely stay.
Gordon
Just back from a week's stay at the beautiful Brockwood hall. Loved it. Location is perfect, beautiful views and walks, our toddler and dog both had a great time. The lodges are lovely, hot tubs great, the on site pub and shop brilliant and staff so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back
Gail
Stayed here for 3 days, was just beautiful. The lodge itself was lovely and clean, the beds were mega comfy. Kids and our dog were very happy. Lots to do around the area and Windermere lake is a must to go and visit for the day. Definitely be back soon
Leanne
Lovely stay We have been before so knew what to expect and it didn’t let us down we will return again Thanks
Scott
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brockwood Hall and would definitely return. The location was exceptional. The on site facilities were great especially the hot tub at the lodge. I know that they are opening a new leisure centre in 2023, which will be a welcome addition. The Peacocks in the grounds added a special touch. The woodland walks were great for the dogs too. Highly recommend this location for a family holiday where dogs are welcome.
Christopher
Brockwood hall really nice, just don't go to millom, nothing there.
Jane Anne
Had a great stay only down side noisy neighbours with barking dogs
Kim
