Absolutely loved our stay at the retreat lodge 11. It was very clean and loved the hot tub. Nice to know that the hot tub was completely emptied and cleaned after our stay, to refill for the new guests. Beds were good and it just had everything you needed. Best one I’ve been in at the lakes.

See earlier comments, for our particular family (our criteria is; rural/countryside, access to food and drink options without driving, access to local bus services, privacy) this accommodation was almost ideal other than would have preferred another bathroom. This wouldn't prevent us from rebooking, which we intend to do.

We had a really lovely stay! Sharon and Robert went out of their way to make us feel at home, which we truly appreciated. The place was spotlessly clean, cosy and felt safe for our dog Archie. The location was perfect for exploring - loads of nice walks and charming villages like Thaxted nearby. We definitely left feeling refreshed and relaxed. All in all, a great little retreat!

We had a fantastic weekend getaway and this place really ticked all the boxes for us. The garden was perfect for the dogs and they were so happy, especially with the underfloor heating-Luna was wagging her tail nonstop! She even came home with a strained tail, but it’s all good. We had a really lovely stay at this place. The setting is quite secluded and really beautiful, perfect if you want some peace and quiet. The owners are genuinely friendly and helpful, always nearby if you need anything but respecting your privacy. The hot tub was a real treat after cycling all day, definitely a highlight! One thing to keep in mind though, the cottage is right under Stansted’s flight path, so there’s quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn’t bother us too much after a while, but it’s worth considering if you’re sensitive to noise. All in all, a great spot!

We had such a lovely stay at this cosy little cottage. It’s tucked away nicely but still close enough to the shops and local spots. The hot tub was a real treat and the underfloor heating kept everything super comfy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel right at home! We’ll be back soon for sure.

The bed was super comfy and the space felt quite generous. Kitchen had everything we needed, which was great. Wifi wasn’t the strongest, but it did the job. Overall, a nice place to stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this cosy cottage on a working farm, which feels surprisingly private. Robert and Sharon are such lovely hosts, making us feel really welcome. The place itself is spacious and well-equipped, especially the kitchen and bathroom - everything we needed! The bed was super comfy and the garden, dog-proof and secluded, was perfect for relaxing. Plenty of walking routes nearby and we loved exploring Thaxted’s restaurants like The Star and The Maypole. Definitely recommend!

We had such a lovely stay at this cosy little cottage! Honestly, we didn’t need to bring a thing because it’s so well equipped. The welcome pack was a nice touch, full of useful info and menus - really thoughtful. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was the perfect way to unwind after a day out. Sharon and Rob were super quick to reply if we had any questions. Thanks for the little extras for us and the pups - we’ll definitely be back!

We stayed here for a week in July with our two little dachshunds. The cottage is really charming and the hot tub was a real treat, especially during the scorching days when the water was cool enough to enjoy. The hosts were lovely and made us feel very welcome, even taking their dogs out to the fields each day which was a nice touch. Being near Stansted meant we could watch the planes landing - quite interesting! Overall, we’d definitely recommend Hide, it was a great little getaway and the dogs loved it too!

Just returned from a 5 night stay in the Dorchester lodge. The location of the site is perfect for a stroll into Pooley Bridge and lots of lovely walks around the area. Friendly staff and well maintained site. Would highly recommend.

This is the 5th or 6th time at hillcroft over a period of say 10 to 12 years and not one has been a bad one although there has been some changes but we will always go for the lodge and that never disappoints loved our time and will certainly will come again in the very near future.

Beautiful immaculately clean lodge with everything you could need for your holiday. You always worry staying in pet friendly accommodation but not here it was sparkling. The grounds are amazing.The whole site is so well looked after. Short walk into Pooley bridge with enough pub/restaurants to visit albeit they seem to have the same menus. A bit of variety would be nice .
