We had a lovely week here from 15 to 22 July with our two tiny dachshund girls, who really enjoyed themselves, especially making friends in the charming village of Thaxted. The cottage itself is quite pretty and the hot tub was a real treat - perfect since it was scorching weather and cooling the water made it super refreshing. The hosts were warm and welcoming and it was nice to see their dogs being taken out daily to the fields. Being near Stansted’s flight path was interesting - I loved watching the planes land. Definitely recommend hiding here for a peaceful escape!

We really enjoyed our stay overall. The views from the lodge are stunning and the bedrooms are a good size. The living room was comfy, which was great after a day out. That said, some areas could use a bit of sprucing up - the en suite shower was temperamental and the outside decking and furniture could do with an upgrade. With a bit of TLC, it’d be perfect!

Stayed the weekend for my wife's 40th birthday and mother's day celebrations. Lodge was fantastic, well equipped and immaculate throughout. Surroundings were stunningly beautiful and the staff were fantastic. We have booked to return already. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

We stayed over the weekend for my partner’s 40th and Mother’s Day. The lodge was spotlessly clean and really well equipped. The scenery was breathtaking and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. We’ve already booked to come back-thanks for an amazing break!

We loved the cosy cabin, especially the secure patio for our doggies. The beds were super comfy and the coffee machine was a lovely touch. Might need a bit more kitchen storage, but overall, great stay!

I don’t think the lodge had been thoroughly cleaned prior to our arrival. Sweets and crumbs under the cushions on the settee. Fire on wall in lounge was thick of dust. Dishwasher wasn’t clean on inside of door. No facilities on site except children’s play area.

We had a really lovely time staying here! Sharon and Robert were such warm hosts, making us feel right at home from the start. The place was spotlessly clean, comfy and perfect for Archie with good security. The location was just right, with loads of nice walks nearby and Thaxted and the surrounding villages are definitely worth exploring. Honestly, we left feeling totally refreshed and relaxed - a proper little escape!

We just got back from a really nice four-night stay at this cottage. The owners were super friendly and helpful without being intrusive, which we appreciated. The big fenced garden was perfect for our dog to run around safely. The cottage had everything we needed, including a lovely hot tub - such a treat! We even fired up the BBQ one evening. Definitely planning to come back and already recommended it to friends. Thanks for a great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The place felt so warm and inviting, super clean too. The shower was really powerful and hot, which was a bonus after a day out. The kitchen had everything we needed and we appreciated the nice touch of a Prosecco welcome. Visiting Derwent Lake and Keswick was lovely, especially since it’s so dog-friendly-our dog had a great time! We’re already planning to return, it’s a shame to leave behind such a lovely spot.

We booked a couple of nights in February at this lodge and honestly, it was a lovely experience. The spot is tucked away in a peaceful area with a beautiful view over the lake, which makes it perfect for escaping the hustle. The lodge itself was spotless and really well equipped - everything we needed was there. The highlight, though, had to be the decking area; such a great place to relax and soak in the scenery. The staff on reception were super friendly and even let us check in early since our lodge was ready, which was a nice surprise. When we checked out, the guy we spoke to (probably the site manager or owner) was really welcoming and asked about our stay, especially since we were only the third guests in that new lodge. Overall, we had a fantastic time and definitely want to come back!

Nice lodge that suited us well, we're not hot tub fans! Nicely furnished and good facilities at a very good price and a view of the lake.

We had such a great weekend here! The place really ticked all the boxes for us and we’re already planning to come back. Our dogs had a blast-especially with the underfloor heating and playing outside in the garden. Luna wagged her tail so much she hurt it, but it’s all good according to the vet. Happy pups, happy us!

We stayed at this lovely lodge recently and it really felt like a home away from home. The view of the lake from the lounge is absolutely breathtaking and the place is super cosy. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, with a bath and separate shower - love those big fluffy towels! Plus, it’s really pet-friendly, which was a big plus for us and our mini schnauzer.

We spent a week here in July with our two tiny dachshunds and they absolutely loved it! They made friends with other dogs in the village of Thaxted, which was lovely to see. The cottage itself is charming and the hot tub was a definite highlight - perfect for cooling down during the heatwave. The hosts were really friendly and welcoming and it was nice to see their dogs being taken out to the fields every day. Being near Stansted’s flight path was interesting too - we enjoyed watching the planes land. Definitely a place we’d come back to!

We stayed in this lovely place during a chilly December and it was so cosy and well kitted out. The bath was superb and the shower was a good size-really appreciated that after a long day. The location’s perfect, especially for dogs that dislike fireworks, being tucked away from everything. The house is beautifully converted and peaceful. Honestly, we had a great time, thanks so much!

What a great house, the pictures don't do it justice. We had a great time here, can't fault anything. We enjoyed being so close to the lake and it really is a very picturesque spot. Staff really helpful as we left a few items behind! We would certainly visit again. Thank you!
Mark
The lodge is in an awesome location. We were literally 60 seconds away from the lake which our Siberian Husky loved. Keswick is 10 minutes away in the car & Dodds Wood is just over a mile away - well worth a visit to both. The Cumbrian Coast is only 30 minutes drive. The accommodation was fantastic - very well appointed. Great unexpected extras /treats on arrival for us & our dog - nice touch which really makes the difference. Staff all great & very helpful. All in all a great break in an excellent location. I would absolutely recommend.
Ian
Stunning location and lodge would recommend to all
Terence
Outstanding site in lovely surroundings.
Latha
It’s so gorgeous we’d like to come here again. Beautiful setting , felt like Canada. Love that we could cool off in the lake and walk from the lodge too. It’s much more peaceful than a lot of the lakes this time of the year.
EMMA
The Croft Cottage was perfect for us. It was very spacious and it had everything we needed. It was very clean. Just a short walk down to the Lake. We will definitely be booking this again.
Michael
Amazing location, recommend getting hot tub, got an early check in, lovely scenery and areas to go to
