Visitor Reviews of Bassenthwaite Lakeside Lodges

Emma Clarke
Date of stay: 1st April 2025
We stayed over the weekend for my partner’s 40th and Mother’s Day. The lodge was spotlessly clean and really well equipped. The scenery was breathtaking and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. We’ve already booked to come back-thanks for an amazing break!

Date of stay: 30th March 2025
Great spot for dog walks, right next to the lake and fields. Lovely!
Emma Carter
Date of stay: 12th March 2025
Beautiful spot, peaceful and well-maintained.

Date of stay: 9th March 2025
Honestly, we were a bit disappointed with the cleanliness. There were sweets and crumbs under the cushions and the fire on the wall was dusty. The dishwasher was filthy inside the door. The only thing on site was a small play area for kids, which was a bummer.

Date of stay: 9th March 2025
We had a fantastic stay! The lodge was spotless and spacious enough for six people. The highlight was definitely relaxing in the hot tub, such a lovely touch.
James

Really enjoyed the stay, the hot tub was a real highlight!

Date of stay: 18th February 2025
We booked a couple of nights in February at this lodge and honestly, it was a lovely experience. The spot is tucked away in a peaceful area with a beautiful view over the lake, which makes it perfect for escaping the hustle. The lodge itself was spotless and really well equipped - everything we needed was there. The highlight, though, had to be the decking area; such a great place to relax and soak in the scenery. The staff on reception were super friendly and even let us check in early since our lodge was ready, which was a nice surprise. When we checked out, the guy we spoke to (probably the site manager or owner) was really welcoming and asked about our stay, especially since we were only the third guests in that new lodge. Overall, we had a fantastic time and definitely want to come back!

Really enjoyed the stay here. The lodge was comfy and well-equipped and the view of the lake was lovely. Not a hot tub person, but everything else was spot on!

Date of stay: 29th December 2024
We loved the place! It’s super welcoming for dogs and babies, which is a big plus for us. A bit more subtle lighting at night would be nice, but overall, it’s a fantastic spot and definitely worth it. We’ll be back!

The cabin was lovely, really well furnished and spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was there, including a nice surprise - a bottle of Prosecco! Great stay!

Date of stay: 2nd October 2024
Great overall, just a small maintenance hiccup that could be sorted easily.
James
Date of stay: 28th September 2024
Great place, everything was well looked after and neat.
Emma
Date of stay: 22nd September 2024
The outdoor area was quite cramped with the hot tub taking up most of the space, making it tricky for four adults to sit comfortably outside. Bedding and towels were spotless, really white and clean. The lodge could use a bit more dusting, but overall, we had a great time!
Emma Carter
Date of stay: 18th September 2024
Nice spot, very peaceful

We had a fantastic stay at the lodge! The place was spacious, spotless and super comfy. The kitchen was well-stocked and perfect for meals and the balcony was a lovely touch. Thanks for letting us bring our dogs - they loved it too! Definitely a place we'd return to.

The lodge’s location by Bassenthwaite Lake was perfect - so peaceful and scenic. It was cosy, well-stocked and we felt truly at home. Definitely recommended!

Date of stay: 31st July 2024
We really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was lovely and the hot tub was a real treat. Everything was spotless and well-stocked, though a clothes horse would’ve been handy for drying our swimwear. Still, great overall!
Emma
Date of stay: 17th July 2024
We loved the stunning setting; honestly, that alone makes it worth a visit. The lodge had some lovely touches, especially the hot tub which we really enjoyed. It’s definitely a luxury spot, but we did notice a few things that could be improved - like the formica on the worktops peeling, some mould in the shower corners and cobwebs on the ceiling. A bread knife in the kitchen would be handy too. Still, we’d happily come back, it’s a really beautiful place!
Emma
Date of stay: 12th June 2024
We had a great stay here! The lodge was lovely, especially the hot tub. The site’s peaceful and well-located-perfect for paddleboarding on the lake. We really enjoyed the quiet surroundings and the beautiful views. Definitely a spot we’d come back to!

Date of stay: 9th June 2024
Beautiful spot, really peaceful and well-maintained. We loved every minute of it.
Sam
Date of stay: 5th June 2024
We really enjoyed our stay. The hot tub was a lovely touch and the lodge was comfy with everything we needed. Access to the lake for kayaking was super easy. Sure, some bits of the lodge looked a bit worn out, but it didn’t spoil our trip at all!
Emma
Date of stay: 16th May 2024
We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge! It’s comfy and has everything we needed. The en suite in the main bedroom was a real bonus, plus there’s a bathroom too. Our dog loved the little walk nearby in the mornings - perfect getaway!
Emma
Date of stay: 31st March 2024
We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. It’s well-equipped, with everything from kitchen gear to dog bowls, towels and treats. The bed was super soft, maybe a bit too much, but overall, a lovely experience!
Alex
Date of stay: 27th March 2024
Really enjoyed our stay, staff were super friendly.
Emma Carter
Date of stay: 20th March 2024
We stayed at this lodge recently and really appreciated how well-equipped it was - everything we needed was there. The two bathrooms with showers made mornings so much easier. The bedrooms, one double and one twin, were comfy. The only slight downside was the outdoor space; the hot tub took up most of the decking, so sitting outside for four might be a bit crowded, but for two it was fine!
Sandra

What a great house, the pictures don't do it justice. We had a great time here, can't fault anything. We enjoyed being so close to the lake and it really is a very picturesque spot. Staff really helpful as we left a few items behind! We would certainly visit again. Thank you!
Mark
The lodge is in an awesome location. We were literally 60 seconds away from the lake which our Siberian Husky loved. Keswick is 10 minutes away in the car & Dodds Wood is just over a mile away - well worth a visit to both. The Cumbrian Coast is only 30 minutes drive. The accommodation was fantastic - very well appointed. Great unexpected extras /treats on arrival for us & our dog - nice touch which really makes the difference. Staff all great & very helpful. All in all a great break in an excellent location. I would absolutely recommend.
Ian
Stunning location and lodge would recommend to all
Terence
Outstanding site in lovely surroundings.
Latha
It’s so gorgeous we’d like to come here again. Beautiful setting , felt like Canada. Love that we could cool off in the lake and walk from the lodge too. It’s much more peaceful than a lot of the lakes this time of the year.
EMMA
The Croft Cottage was perfect for us. It was very spacious and it had everything we needed. It was very clean. Just a short walk down to the Lake. We will definitely be booking this again.
Michael
Amazing location, recommend getting hot tub, got an early check in, lovely scenery and areas to go to
