Brockwood Hall Lodges - Reviews

We had a lovely stay at Viken Lodge! The view over the valley was stunning and the lodge was spotlessly clean when we arrived. It’s well-equipped with all the utensils you’d need. The hot tub was a decent size, though a lid bar would’ve made handling the lid a lot easier and the jets could be a bit stronger. We’d definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our stay! The lodges are cosy and the hot tub and sauna were lovely treats. Some areas looked a bit worn out, but it didn’t ruin our trip. Comfortable beds and quality linens made it even better. Two bathrooms are definitely a plus!

The kitchen's pretty tired and the decking’s seen better days, but overall, not too shabby at all.

Parking could do with extra gravel, plus some of the white goods are quite tired.

We loved the stunning views at Grizedale Lodge, even if some areas like the floors and door frames look a bit worn. The sofas are a tad low, but the beds are comfy and the kitchen has everything we needed. Nice touch with the welcome pack and treats for the dogs-really made us feel at home. Overall, a lovely stay!

We had a lovely stay at the lodge, the views were truly stunning and it’s a great spot to relax. The only real issue was arriving to find the place freezing cold, with just one tiny radiator in the living area-it took ages to warm up! When we checked in, we were told the hot tub might not be ready until around 9pm if it was still being cleaned last and unfortunately, ours was the last one, so it was still cold at 9 and we couldn’t use it till the next morning. That was a bit of a let-down. Despite that, we’d definitely recommend it and would come back. Though, we did notice prices seem to have gone up quite a lot for 2025-bit of a shock! Still, overall a good experience.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Viken Lodge in Brockwood Hall and honestly, it was just what we needed. From the moment we pulled up, the lodge’s cosy charm and the stunning natural scenery immediately put us at ease. The place itself was spotless and beautifully decorated, striking a perfect balance between modern comfort and rustic charm. The open-plan living space was a real highlight-spacious enough to relax in but still super inviting, with big windows that offered incredible views of the woods and fells around us. The kitchen was fully kitted out, which made self-catering straightforward and the little touches like the comfy bedding and the welcome pack made us feel really looked after. The best bit? The private hot tub. Honestly, after a day out exploring, nothing beats soaking in those bubbles with the peaceful surroundings all around. It’s such a luxury! Brockwood Hall’s location is fantastic-peaceful and secluded, yet close enough to visit Lake District highlights like Coniston Water and Muncaster Castle. There are some lovely woodland walks just outside the door, perfect for a morning stroll or a bit of afternoon adventure. The staff at Brockwood Hall were brilliant-friendly, attentive and always happy to offer tips or a smile, which made a big difference. Whether you want a romantic escape, a family holiday, or just some peace and quiet in nature, Viken Lodge ticks all the boxes. It’s a perfect blend of luxury and tranquility and we’re already planning our next visit!

We had a fantastic stay at the lodge! It’s super cosy and spacious enough for our family of five. The hot tub was always at the perfect temperature, which was a lovely bonus. We also enjoyed some great walks nearby and the grounds are spotless and well-maintained. The only real downside was dining at Billy’s restaurant in Brockwood Hall - honestly, the food was pretty shocking. The Sunday roast lamb was mostly fat and the steaks were burnt to a crisp, tasting of charcoal. The chef wasn’t exactly friendly either and didn’t take kindly to any complaints about the food. Still, the lodge itself made up for it!

We stayed at this lodge recently and overall, it was a lovely place. The lodge itself was comfortable and we really enjoyed our time there. There was some black mould on the ceiling by the patio doors in the lounge and in the corner of the single bedroom, which was a bit disappointing. Also, we noticed there wasn’t a chopping board in the kitchen, which would’ve been handy. When the power went out, the site responded quickly-within a couple of hours-which was good. It might be helpful if they kept battery lanterns in the storage for future guests, as we depended on our phone torches. Despite these small issues, we had a great stay!

We stayed at the lodge recently and honestly, it’s a lovely place with plenty of space for everyone. The living area is really well thought out and we appreciated having enough firewood and dishwasher tablets to last the entire trip. One thing to note, though, was that there weren’t any means provided to light the fire, which was a bit of a pain. The hot tub was quite disappointing because it’s hidden behind a really tall fence, blocking the gorgeous view that drew us to this place in the first place. It’s such a shame because the surroundings are stunning. We nearly rebooked just to find somewhere with a better view from the hot tub!

We wish there was a washing machine available for longer stays, but the carpets were spotless and the furniture, while a bit worn, was still okay. Overall, pretty decent!

The lodge was really charming and close enough to reception for convenience. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable, but I still had a decent sleep. Would’ve been a bonus to have a washing machine inside.

The lodge was really lovely and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well-stocked, but some furniture looked a bit tired and could do with a deep clean. A quick clear of cobwebs would make it perfect!

Honestly, we’ve never bothered leaving a review before, but our stay at Kent Lodge was just so disappointing that we felt we had to share. We booked it for my daughter’s 10th birthday thinking it’d be a nice little getaway, but it was a bit of a nightmare from start to finish. The bedrooms were decent-sized, which was a plus, but the living space was just way too cramped for four of us. We had to shuffle the furniture around just so everyone could see the TV properly - it was a real squeeze. The condition of the lodge was shocking. It was in such a poor state of repair, honestly, it smelled strongly of wet dog and the furniture was filthy - some of it was even shredded. There was no shelf in the fridge, so storing food was a hassle and the kitchen bin had no lid at all, which was pretty gross. The oven only had one shelf and no baking trays, making cooking for four a real pain. The bathroom wasn’t much better - there were big holes in the walls and the shower needed regrouting. We even found a dead slug squashed on the bathroom window, which was pretty revolting. No mats at the doors either, so mud and water tracked in constantly, especially since we had a hot tub. One of the bedside lamp was broken and dangerous and the electric radiators looked like they’d seen better days - all the stickers on them said they were due PAT testing back in 2021, so that wasn’t reassuring. There was a DVD player hidden away in a drawer under the TV, but the sofa was so close to the drawer that we couldn’t open it, so we never got to use it. Staff did try to fix some things - the light was sorted out and they brought us a broken mat, a mop and a shelf for the oven, but it didn’t fit. They also replaced the bin and removed the slug, which was kind of them. Sadly, they couldn’t do much about the other issues and there was nowhere else on site to move us. In the end, we had to raise our concerns with Hoseasons, who managed to get us a full refund. They did find us alternative accommodation in the Lakes, but it was 1.5 hours away and cost us extra. Brockwood Hall did offer us a free night in any lodge on site, but with school and everything, that’s pretty much impossible for us to do before December. Honestly, it was a real letdown and we wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We stayed here for the first time and honestly, we were really pleased. Having been to a few lodges across the country, this place definitely stands out for its breathtaking views. We arrived on a Monday and left Friday and from the moment we got there, the staff made us feel welcome with friendly, helpful info. Our lodge was more of a cosy Scandinavian style than ultra-modern, which we loved - spacious and spotless. The furniture was top-notch, though you could see a bit of wear, but nothing that spoiled the charm. The beds were a tad too firm for us, but that’s personal taste. One of the best bits was the small woodland area perfect for dog walks, a real rarity! We also enjoyed the restaurant-twice, actually-once dining in and once grabbing takeout. Both meals were tasty and good value. All in all, a lovely spot, a bit off the main tourist trail (about 25 mins from Coniston), but definitely worth the trip for a relaxing break. We’d come back!

Had a brilliant time and the accommodation was just the right size for a family of 3 and a dog. The only downside was the lack of fridge and freezer space in the lodge. Location was fantastic, local beaches not too far away and the food at the restaurant was really Nice and the staff were nothing but helpful and friendly. Would definitely visit again :-)
Wayne
Great views around the area. Staff were always polite and helpful.

Spent a weekend here with my family, including my 20 month old little boy and 2 dogs. Slightly out of the way but a lovely drive to the beach if you want to explore. Cabins clean tidy and cosy, my little boy loved seeing the peacocks roaming. The shop on-site had all the essentials, the restaurant food was lovely and staff really friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time
Claire
Lovely big lodge with plenty of room for the family with everything you need. Friendly staff and lovely wee pub/restaurant. Only downside is could do with a better park for the children. But overall had a lovely stay.

Just back from a week's stay at the beautiful Brockwood hall. Loved it. Location is perfect, beautiful views and walks, our toddler and dog both had a great time. The lodges are lovely, hot tubs great, the on site pub and shop brilliant and staff so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back

Stayed here for 3 days, was just beautiful. The lodge itself was lovely and clean, the beds were mega comfy. Kids and our dog were very happy. Lots to do around the area and Windermere lake is a must to go and visit for the day. Definitely be back soon

Lovely stay We have been before so knew what to expect and it didn’t let us down we will return again Thanks

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brockwood Hall and would definitely return. The location was exceptional. The on site facilities were great especially the hot tub at the lodge. I know that they are opening a new leisure centre in 2023, which will be a welcome addition. The Peacocks in the grounds added a special touch. The woodland walks were great for the dogs too. Highly recommend this location for a family holiday where dogs are welcome.
Christopher
Brockwood hall really nice, just don't go to millom, nothing there.
