We didn’t try the spa or dine in because we were a bit nervous about sitting inside, so we went for takeaway instead. Some of the food was lovely, but honestly, the chips were just frozen, which felt a bit disappointing for a place claiming five stars. The bistro’s quite small, but the view of the sea is stunning. We’d come back!

We recently stayed at Goddard's Mead and were genuinely impressed. Rob and Sharon have done a fantastic job transforming this historic place and their warm welcome made us feel right at home. Bonnie was lovely too! The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you enjoy wandering around charming villages like Thaxted with its rich history. Everything you need for a chilled-out stay is here and we’d definitely recommend it for a relaxing break.

We just got back from a four-night stay at this cosy cottage and honestly, we loved it! The owners were super friendly but never intrusive, which was perfect. The fenced garden was great for our dog to run around safely. Everything inside was well-equipped - we even enjoyed a BBQ one evening. The hot tub was a real highlight! There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted has some cracking restaurants-The Star and The Maypole are our favourites. The Swan and Indian are pretty good too. Honestly, we’d definitely recommend this spot!

Pool, spa facilities and views were fantastic. Didn’t try restaurant but had a takeaway. Very nice. Wonderfully peaceful place, though road was a little noisy. Generally though, only heard the sea. Would definitely go again.

Lovely peaceful break with young grandchildren who loved pool walks on rocks and small playpark. Nothing was to much for the staff. Recommend for a peaceful break.

We had a wonderful stay at Bennane Shore Holiday Park. The location is absolutely amazing with stunning views along the coast and breathtaking sunsets. And, with binoculars, we could see seals every night from the decking of our lodge! The lodge itself - Kintyre - was great. The living area and kitchen was like a proper home from home and the bedrooms were comfortable and spacious too. We could happily have stayed longer than the week we had booked and will definitely visit again. Our daughters (aged 10) loved seal spotting, playing on the private beach and playground and scootering up and down the Park. And it is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area which has some brilliant family days out. The food at the Bistro was freshly cooked and delicious and the staff were all professional, friendly and helpful. We didn't use the spa facilities - other than the steam room - but enjoyed using the pool every day with our children and everything was spotless. We would definitely recommend this holiday park are already planning our next visit!

The site was easy to find and had plenty to do if your happy to travel a few miles. We had a nice view out to over the Firth of Clydd .
